PFAL: An Unorthodox Translation
doojable replied to Tom Strange's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Mike, I know that I haven't been around in a while - but you are getting meaner, it seems. People have the right to ask questions. They have the right to doubt your beliefs - this is, afterall, America. There really is an easier way to go about all of this - but you seem to think it is not feesible. Put ALL your thoughts in a paper. You keep poo-poohing the idea, but even if you think that there is no way to prove that a work is "God-breathed," you could at least make your whole argument without constant interuption and others could take all your words in the context you mean them. OTHO - then you would also have it all out. Then everyone could hold you to your own words. This could be a plus or a minus - based on the strength of your arguments. This thread had gotten fairly civil. I am sad that it has gotten so mean spirited. It is hard to convince anyone of anything once you have insulted them - and even though you don't like the thought - you have the burden of proof here because you are trying sway unwilling "students" to your way of thinking. A brother offended ..... -

LOL Thank you Jonny! Actually there used to be people who asked if i was even in the room when she was born! She really has a lot of my features - particularly my sunny disposition. This was a big deal for everyone involved - I actually lost my voice from screaming so loud! Many of these girls (and the boys too) I have known since they were in Kindergarten - so this was especially great for me. By the way - this daughter is the original dooj!

Oh no! This again! -
That's exactly how I feel Tops and Tonto! I am not saying that we MUST kneel. I am saying that there are times when we feel like we have to kneel. I just had to overcome so much aversion to kneeling that when I finally did it it was a very healing thing. I would never kneel just to show someone how I feel. I heard of a man who said that. "I hardly ever pray for more than 1/2 and hour, but I also never go more than 30 min without praying." Now, insisting on kneeling in this situation would be ridiculous! I just wanted to get a sense of how folks have dealt with that quote from VPW.

ok Tom - so say the "boy" and repeat it. Then only use the admiral's name. I think you can get the rest...

Just a quick thought - I am NOT saying that I am holier if I kneel. I am NOT saying that there is greater believing in kneeling in prayer. I just think that we threw out humility when we started "demanding" from God and eliminated the humble posture of prayer. Carry on..........
