  1. I thought this was an appropriate discussion to add to a thread concerning love and camaraderie: Compassion
  2. I apologize RumRunner. I was just thinking on the page. I guess I don't know how to describe the mentality I'm referring to. A young woman (non-twi) who carried a pistol for self-defense once told me: Don't point a gun unless you intend to shoot. Back to the topic...
  3. So the bravado of being in power as a MOG is what gave some the idea that they should bring guns to a "clergy meeting," or to sit it intimidatingly on a desk in plain sight while a young man was confronting the MOGFODATAH? Insanity.... straight insanity. And who's holding the weapons in the asylum now? I'm just saying...
  4. One has to wonder... "Honey, I'm off to the the clergy meeting at HQ. I'm bringing my Smith and Wesson."   W T F!! Just how much mistrust was already present? Bluze- I agree. My godmother became a paraplegic the day her policeman husband was cleaning his gun (he thought the gun was empty but there was one in the chamber and he left the safety off.) The bullet ricocheted two rooms away and severed her spinal cord. Sorry for the
  5. Seether - "Breakdown" My kids' new favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTpDJrozdR0
  6. Isn't it the least bit ironic that some of the signature moves in this little show are from the '80's? And... they come from Michael Jackson.??!!.. who's "love of little boys" and sexual dalliances have been questioned numerous times in the news. I happen to like MJ's dancing during that period in time. I just find this choice of dance steps odd given the attitudes that have been spouted during the years. (* NOTE ~ think about the prevalent attitudes at the Cornfield Cult location. *)
  7. I agree RumRunner. I also see how it could get to the point that only a gun would do to really intimidate someone. If you have someone who is a strong leader, (a recent thread comes to mind) and truly has "godly righteousness" on their side, ("It's wrong for you to sleep with my wife!") then there is no "spiritual superiority" to whip out and brandish about. There is no "Renew your mind dammit!" that can be said, because the MOG is the one in the wrong, and he knows it. Hence, the fear of death is a strong manipulator. ("I may not be right, but I've got the firepower. YOU WILL do as I say and like it.") Not that it's necessarily smart to call a bluff when you have a bunch of potential religious psychos brandishing guns...
  8. Nope. Never heard that teaching. What a bunch of bull. IMHO of course...
  9. I see that scenario... but I also see the "temperance" of public opinion holding them back. After all, how would they explain it to the authorities? Self-defense? Der victoid used psychological manipulation and threats. There's really no way to tell. Some may have that little bit of self-control still in place. Then again, what if they don't? Hard to believe this is supposed to be a "Christian" organization- huh? Innies? Hope you can take a hard look at what you're involved in.
  10. But the question remains... Barring heat of the moment incidents, do you believe that a gun would have been used to silence someone? I'm not talking about a brawl or heated argument. Picture a scenario where a man is called into LCM's office and Linder was there with a gun on his side and a gun on the desk... What about at the reading of POP? (I thought I read that there was a gun present with CG.) I'm wondering if this was just intimidation or did they mean business.
  11. Geisha, I'm glad that wacko never pulled the trigger. I almost forgot how many truly insane people held high positions in twi.
  12. Control. Control at all costs. Intimidate and manipulate. This is what I frequently think about when I think about some of the tactics I saw while in twi. It could have been as subtle as a leader telling you to get back in fellowship (even though you didn't even know you were out,) or it could have been as intense as a public face melting. We've read and heard about the brandishing of guns by Mr Linder and his henchmen. It's one thing to have a security force of twi "rent a cop wannabes" to keep things safe. It's quite another when you consider that guns have been used to intimidate people into keeping their their mouths shut and maintaining the party line. How would the following headline be received? "Wayfer Killed by TWI Security Force" Twi is all about controlling their image. I wonder if there is any real "teeth" to the threat of gun violence when a gun is conveniently shown to intimidate a "beloved member of the household." What do you think? Do you think they would follow through with it? Do you think they just play the odds that someone doesn't want to find out?
  13. I'm not convinced they're chitterlings... but lets see how she likes them.
  14. The argument went that (UGH repeating this dribble is nauseating) in order to be a good steward you were responsible to give to the best and not just a good cause. And of course the Grammy for Best Cause goes to... *opens envelope* TWI! *even the crickets in the audience are silent*
  15. It's been posted but it's worth repeating. John Mayer - "Daughters"
  16. So this is an Enron situation all over again? But on a much bigger scale and with more far reaching consequences?
  17. Bump - just in case there are some that will be helped with this info.
  18. That's what I meant to say Ham. It's supposed to be a day of rest- but if you're talking "time and talents" then it's pretty obvious that "rest" isn't in the plan. spin- wash- spin - repeat
  19. "One seventh of time and talents"? I once heard in a church that that was the idea behind keeping the Sabbath. That one seventh of your time would be spent in rest and quiet. Time for family and reflection. But twi has taken that OT law (which they reject or keep when the mood strikes them) and has turned it inside out. I guess this is where the brainwashing goes on "spin cycle."
  20. UGH! That's even sicker. But it makes sense in a twi way... make sure everyone is in lockstep. Still - to devote corps nights to that kind of dribble and then have the audacity to use any thing even closely related to the Bible in the title... As the stomach turns...
  21. I just have to comment here... What kind of class was this anyway? It certainly wasn't a class that had any longevity in mind. Imagine sitting in this class another 20 years from now and hearing about how some spat between two wannabe MOGs... It sounds like it was a commercial for LCM. Please tell me that after sitting through this class there was another mass exodus...
  22. Here is a link for anyone wanting to start up a distribution center with a group they are involved with. I'm going to contact some schools to see if some students would be willing to volunteer their time as community service. They could either help at a distribution center or volunteer to pick up food for someone who can't do it for themselves.
  23. Can you check that link Now I See? I got "Page Load Error" :(
