Yes - But a Coke is always a Coke - no matter where you go. Ironically enough, the ad in the clue even says : "Coke means only Coca Cola and Coca Cola only means Coke" So that's what I was going on - MY people would have called that a "soda" - or a "coke" And FYI - been in Texas over 20 years and I still ask the kids if they want a soda - or if they want a drink. Ok - I can be totally off base here - but here's what I think regarding why "us Greasespot folks" are more apt to speak badly of D*nna M. than Mrs. W. D*nna ticked more of us off. She was a yeller and screamer. Mrs. W. was a woman that managed to do good while she was living in Wayworld. Maybe not enough good for some here - but at least she tried and cared about folks. She prevented her husband from cornering at least one woman - maybe she did that for more women who have not spoken up here at GS. Did D*nna ever do that - even once? I don't know - if she did, no one has stepped up to tell the story yet.

There will always be "what if's" and "should haves." She didn't leave TWI - period. She left her child behind to go to India - Period. (Now if she were Mother Theresa or Cory Ten Boom or some kind of Florence Nightingale personality, we would be saying how strong and courageous she was.) I am not judging her here. Just trying to state the facts as they have been presented. I never knew the woman personally. We can speculate all we want. Bottom line is - she did some good and tolerated some evil. Does the good she did outweigh the evil she tolerated? Everyone has to answer that for themselves.

What little I know of Shell comes from our times in chat and some of her posts. I know her story because one of the first times I was in chat I mentioned that I wasn't fully informed and she PM-ed me and told me how it was. She's courageous and honest. A loving mother, tenaciously devoted to her family. When I grow up I'd like to be like her.....

There is a big difference between a man (like Peter, John, Martin Luther, Tendale, et al.) and a woman married with 4 kids to a man who is abusive. These men might have been threatened, but they were not emotionally abused by a spouse. It's really much easier to rally one's self to justice when you are oppressed by the established powers that be than it is to go against somewon you love (or once loved) and the father of your children. Maany victims end up supporting their abusers and defending them. Could we go after Mrs. W with a venegeance? Sure. Do we? No. Why? Well because we in some way sympathize and empathize with her. Some greasespotters have had to face the fact that they did some not nice things even though they thought they were right. Some Gs-ers probably even helped cover stuff up - until they woke up. I'm sure that is was even more complicated for Mrs. W who's family farm was given to TWI. If she left she had no where to go and might have to leave the kids behind. I know this has all been said - I guess I just wanted to say it too.

Are SURE about this?!!!! Do you have any experience with an abusive spouse? You are thinking about vpw as if he were logical and normal. I had an encounter with someone he "trained." I assure you the man became dangerous when confronted and he saw the potential for losing all that he had.

I don't know many details - I'm sure that there are some here that do. Seems to me that the ones that should get chided (ie - torn a new one) are the ones that actually did the deeds - or actively set people up to get used, or who used people themselves in some fashion or another. I have only heard rumors about D*nn@'s early days in the ministry - one might want to ask someone who has first hand information.
