CES is in a Mess...
doojable replied to Captain Crunch's topic in Spirit and Truth Fellowship International
Too many thoughts, not enough words...... When people get hurt - when people are treated as property or commodities, when people are expendable......something is truly wrong. -
there's two sounds here - not two separate words - they make one word.

Babylon Mystery Religion is another of those books.

CES is in a Mess...
doojable replied to Captain Crunch's topic in Spirit and Truth Fellowship International
Where to start......? If we aren't careful this can become a case of "rejoicing in iniquity." Not accusing anyone of it yet - but this thread does have a circus-like quality to it. No disrespect meant - but when people's pains and lives are paraded in front of a crowd - well.... it's just a freak show. I'm not saying that there isn't a place for this discussion - but motive would seem to be a real factor. Reality check (for me first) : What are "we" hoping to accomplish here? I mean, when I first left the Roman Catholic Church, I didn't keep tabs on what was going on there or in Rome. Neither did I do that when I left TWI. Now I find myself checking this thread regularly - and I was never even involved with CES - tho I do have some dear friends that are. This is a sad time for the body of Christ - do we really want to say our "I told you so's" and " it figures"? Some folks got royally screwed here! I dont' care who they are or what they've done - people are important. And yes, I know that I have participated in the thread and made some sly remarks. Now I'm just praying that these folks get healed. Ok - beat me now..... -
Oldiesman - When I first took PFAL the person running the class showed us all that photo. It was helpd up as proof to lend weight to vpw's research - that someone had somehow corroborated his findings independently. The truth is that vpw took that from Bullinger. So the reference was a dishonest one. Kinda like reverse engineering a product and then trying to claim that you invented it yourself.

How did it come to this? Hmmmmmm - you know, the frog that finds itself in a pot of water that is about to boil says the same thing....... I'd say that when it come to religious matters, folks are way too easily lulled to sleep. They find something that is working for them and then they fold their hands, press "Auto-Pilot" and let someone or something else take to wheel. Moral of the story - take care of you and yours. Keep YOUR eyes and ears open. Don't wait for someone to tell you "what the Lord is saying." ASK HIM YOURSELF AND LISTEN. If you smell a rat - go looking for a rat and stop telling yourself that perhaps you're mistaken and that smell is really some roses that need some watering. Have I mixed up enough metaphors for all of you English majors...? -
Very good Raf! Sorry you must have been posting the answer while I was posting a reply. Your turn!

Trust and Obey - doesn't it sound to you like this gal might be "under the gun" in a sense? I'm thinking that she's on probation or maybe has been M&A-ed and needs to "prove her worthiness to enter the Household." Excuse me while I puke.......

Thank you everyone - carry on.... Merry Christmas!

CES is in a Mess...

MY ONLY experience with CES has been with a few friends that were close to JAL. They were always coming up with a new "tweeking" of what TWI taught. It was never just "well TWI got it wrong," it was ""not only did TWI get it wrong - but HERE is the new revelation....blah blah blah." IMHO whenever you have a ministry that's sole duty and mission is research and teaching, you have the makings of a mess. Afterall, after a while you have to start really stretching for new material - else you've outlived your usefullness and folks who have become addicted to "some new thing" will leave for yet another new thing. -
Moryan, Here is the thing you have to consider - along with the sound advice given by many. For this young lady - getting involved with you has a two-fold purpose: she has a boyfriend and she has someone new she can introduce to her group ("Ministry' is the word she'll say.) She's in a quandry as well. She probablly likes you, but also has this need to get someone new to fellowship. The felllowship will be harmless enough if you decide to go. Folks will be nice and sweet and even engaging. But, all the while you most probably will be scrutinized. After you and she leave, she will most likely talk to someone and they will give her their "spiritual opinion" - so to speak. Is this really a relationship that you want? It will not be just you and her. It will be you and her and all those folks in your business for as long as you are a couple. Think BAD IN_LAWS multiplied by a thousand - and it won't matter if you're married or not - they will have an opinion and talk about you to her and her to you - but never to the person in question directly. IMHO you should end this relationship. You're young - most of us here are much, much older and we know where this ship is sailing. As I see it, this is not a healthy way to begin a relationship. It never works when two people go into a relationship expecting the other to change. If you decide to try and see if it can work - well then keep your radar way way up! Listen for all those catch phrases and warning signs you've been given. No matter what, it will come out eventually.

I need a good Yorkshire Pudding recipe along with any helpful advice to making it perfectly. I'm making a roast beef for Christmas and I want to also serve the pudding from across the pond.

Ok- I've been on both sides of this argument in my life. I learned to say the words, "I'm sorry...." while all the while apologizing for nothing with my step mother. I stopped doing that when I encountered that attitiude in TWI and watched and listened with disgusted amazement as leadership not only used those words but also lived the phrase, "It's easier to get permission than forgiveness." Now - sometimes I DO say "I'm sorry if I offended you....." BUT I mean it sincerely - and I ONLY use this phrase if it is unclear if I have truly offended the person in question. Afterall, sometimes its not that I have offended a person - but rather that something offensive has arisen but still needs to be dealt with. One time in GSC I was accused of doing something that I KNEW I didn't do, but I asked for forgiveness anyway. WHY? I did that because I felt it very necessary to show humility in the situation. It seems to me that we can strain at gnats or give folks the benefit of the doubt. HEY - did you notice that the two folks on the thread in question that supposedly had the disagreement haven't posted here? I would say that they are fine with the way it was handled - or they chose not to air the dirty laundry. NICE
