    Bondage

If you're ever in Fort Worth - Look up Kincade's on Camp Bowie. They started as a kind of pharmacy with a lunch counter in the back. That was like a million years ago... Now the store part still exists, but the place has been totally rearranged to make room for all the folks that come in and stand in line for half an hour while they wait on the best hamburger in town. Anyone ever think that the reason the food tasted so good at the ROA was because the water smelled and tasted so bad? That, and and the fact that when you're living in a tent and sweating in a dress and hose or a three-piece suit - food seems to make you feel normal. Can you say "comfort food?"
  3. That'll work Cool Chef - just don't put "stuff" on the meat before cooking - unless its more lemon and garlic. Make lots of lemon dressing and tomato salad - and don't forget the Italian bread!

    STEAK!

Steak Italian Style This is the way Grandma prepared it. Get everything ready ahead of time before you cook the steaks. Have lots of Italian bread on hand to dip with - you'll see when you eat it.... Measurements are to taste... One large steak - whatever cut you prefer Kosher salt Heavy skillet with a large flat cooking surface Lemon Dressing Fresh Lemon juice Olive oil Garlic - crushed and chopped (I like a lot of this) Mix and put dressing on a large platter Tomato Salad 2-4 tomatoes - cut in chunks Thinly sliced onion Fresh basil salt Olive oil Red wine Vinegar Put all ingredients in a large bowl to let flavors meld Cook steak: Heat skillet over high heat with Kosher salt on the surface Place steaks on and let cook till done to desired doneness (We like Rare and Med/well) Take steak from the skillet to the platter with the Lemon Dressing. Cut the steak right there on the platter and serve by making sure all sides of the meat are coated with the dressing. The juices of the meat mix with the lemon dressing and then can be spooned onto the meat to serve. Serve with the tomato salad, steak and bread. HMMMMM MMMMMMMMM!

  10. This recipe has traditionally been made at Thanksgiving in our family - but its so pretty that I have been known to buy extra cranberries and make it in the summer. Cranberry Salad 2 Pkgs. Cranberries - chopped in a food processor 2 cups sugar 2 small cans Crushed Pineapple 2 pkgs. Large Marshmallow, quartered (The mini marhmallows don't work as well - the cut edges are neccessary) Combine the above 4 ingredients & refrigerate 24 hours, stirring occassionally. (I use a large Tupperware container and just turn it over each time the fridge is opened.) Before serving, stir in: 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts 1 pint whipping cream -(that you have whipped) Cool Whip is not a good substitute here, nor is ready made whipped cream. This is a beautiful pink dessert, and it is sweet without being too sweet. ENJOY!
  11. The girls and I make home made hats and confetti. I get them sparking apple juice and I get wine since I really have yet to find a champagne I really like - I'll have to try some of the suggestions on the other thread. For the last few years, my oldest has gone to a "lock-in" at the church down the street. She gets to sleep in real late the next day as a result. I alway make black eyed peas and corn bread - then I also make lentils because the kids like it better and in Italy that's what they eat for good luck - because the lentils resemble coins. Hasn't worked yet - but at least the food is good.
  12. Is the person's name important? If it is, then I'm sure that I don't know at all.

  19. Chas - For future spreads of this nature, try "Stevia" I have lots of friends that use this - its apparently a powder made from a plant and it is a LOT sweeter than sugar. You might need to look up how to use it as a substitute (I'll even Google is and then try to get back to you.) PS- I got it here - Stevia
