Groucho wrote: "The real question that begs to be answered is not whether CFF engages in abusive practices towards their followers...(Is that the criteria?...they don't abuse me, so they must be of God?)..." This was what I was trying to say - but you had the better words for the thought.

Letter from John Lynn
doojable replied to Jeff USAF RET's topic in Spirit and Truth Fellowship International
The sad truth is that most folks don't really trust their ability to really hear God, so they go and talk to as many people as possible to get that little tid bit of truth that they are hungering for. Or - worst yet - they have heard VERY CLEARLY from God, but they are looking for that one person that will tell them what they really want to hear. Then there's always the good excuse for gossip (NOT) "Let's discuss how to help this person.." That one used to get me. Two people would be talking and pretending to discuss how to help another person, while in reality they were just trying to show how "spiritually perceptive" they were. It makes for a pretty good conversation over coffee, but not much more. Mom used to say. "Why are you telling me this? I can't do anything about it. Go talk to that person!" I'm trying to be like that more and more.... -
Ultimately, does it really matter what I think or Cowgirl thinks or Belle thinks (not picking on anyone here - just got some random names from the posts.) I mean - unless there are skeletons in the closet, isn't this decision up to Pink Lady and WHAT SHE THINKS? Maybe this thread was only that - a search for any skeletons. The bickering sometimes just drowns out the message.....

Shell, the best meatloaf recipe I ever made had three types of meat in it - beef, veal and pork. I'm not sure that's what you're thinking is simple. If you still want it - let me know.

LOL Out There, I guess you do remember me! I tend to stand out because I just can't seem to keep quiet when there's BS in the air. Funny thing is that I didn't get in trouble for that in TWI - they gave me the silent treatment instead...... OK- So now that I've stood up, and stood out, NOW what you want me to do? I can dance....

I made the mistake of being a part of a small offshoot for about a year after leaving TWI. Well, really, I was part of starting one (don't throw anything yet, please.) I wasn't out to make any money - and I never made a dime. OTOH - the clergy that asked for my help had other things in mind and I was too naive to realize it. My advice for anyone leaving a group like TWI - a group that already has you on the fringes in many respects - is to take at least a year to get away from all that mess. Visit lots of different groups, and churches.

I usually don't pass stuff like this on, but it seemed to strike me as pertinent. I do happen to look at hands a lot so it meant a lot to read this. It was one of those internet "pass it on" type of letters - so you may have read it already. GRANDMA'S HANDS Grandma, some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the patio bench. She didn't move, just sat with her head down staring at her hands. When I sat down beside her she didn't acknowledge my presence and the longer I sat I wondered if she was OK. Finally, not really wanting to disturb her but wanting to check on her at the same time, I asked her if she was OK. She raised her head and looked at me and smiled. "Yes, I'm fine, thank you for asking," she said in a clear strong voice. "I didn't mean to disturb you, grandma, but you were just sitting here staring at your hands and I wanted to make sure you were OK," I explained to her. "Have you ever looked at your hands," she asked. "I mean really looked at your hands?" I slowly opened my hands and stared down at them. I turned them over, palms up and then palms down. No, I guess I had never really looked at my hands as I tried to figure out the point she was making. Grandma smiled and related this story: Stop and think for a moment about the hands you have, how they have served you well throughout your years. These hands, though wrinkled, shriveled and weak have been the tools I have used all my life to reach out and grab and embrace life. They braced and caught my fall when as a toddler I crashed upon the floor. They put food in my mouth and clothes on my back. As a child my mother taught me to fold them in prayer. They tied my shoes and pulled on my boots. They held my husband and wiped my tears when he went off to war. They have been dirty, scraped and raw, swollen and bent. They were uneasy and clumsy when I tried to hold my newborn son. Decorated with my wedding band they showed the world that I was married and loved someone special. They wrote my letters to him and trembled and shook when I buried my parents and spouse. They have held my children and grandchildren, consoled neighbors, and shook in fists of anger when I didn't understand. They have covered my face, combed my hair, and washed and cleansed the rest of my body. They have been sticky and wet, bent and broken dried and raw. And to this day when not much of anything else of me works real well these hands hold me up, lay me down, and again continue to fold in prayer. These hands are the mark of where I've been and the ruggedness of life. But more importantly it will be these hands that God will reach out and take when he leads me home. And with my hands He will lift me to His side and there I will use these hands to touch the face of Christ. I will never look at my hands the same again. But I remember God reached out and took my grandma's hands and led her home. When my hands are hurt or sore or when I stroke the face of my children and husband I think of grandma. I know she has been stroked and caressed and held by the hands of God. I, too, want to touch the face of God and feel His hands upon my face. When you receive this, say a prayer for the person who sent it to you and watch God's answer to prayer work in your life. Let's continue praying for one another.

I worked in Sewing on campus while in rez. I helped make drapes and I altered a LOT of pants. I had to take them in because the guys were losing so much weight so fast. Then I cleaned windows on campus - every day every window got cleaned twice - once iby hte morning crew and once by the afternoon crew. After that I'd say that the only thing I did without pay was run classes and oh yea.... Local leadership was always looking for free stuff from where you worked - they expected you to "bless them." SHEEEEEEEESH!

And just Father, for making sure the word "just" was in the English language so that we just could use it just so much, Father God... we just want to thank you... Then there were the prayers that started with Dear Heavenly Father, we just want to thank you for being our Daddy and just for our big brother..... Considering the word "just" got used so much you would think that the prayer would have been limited to "just one or two things."

I HAD TO DO THIS! "Stairway To TWI’s Heaven" There's a min’stry who's sure all that glitters is gold And they’re buying the stairway to heaven. When they gets there they know, if the stores are all closed With a word they can get what they came for. Ooh, ooh, and they’re buying the stairway to heaven. There's a card on the wall but they want to be sure 'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings. In a tree by the corn, there's a greencard they bring, Sometimes all of our thoughts need renewing. Ooh, it makes me wonder, Ooh, it makes me wonder. There's a feeling I get when I look to the west, And my spirit is dying to leave them. In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees, And the voices of those who stand looking. Ooh, it makes me wonder, Ooh, it really makes me wonder. And it's whispered that soon if we all lead the tune Then the MOG will lead us to reason. And a new day will dawn for those who stand strong And the cornfields will echo with laughter. (DOES ANYBODY REMEMBER LAUGHTER? mwahahhahahahaha) If there's a bustle in your cornfield, don't be alarmed now, It's just a spring clean for the Gay queen. Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run There's still time to change the road you're on. And it makes me wonder. Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know, The rev’rend’s calling you to join him, Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know You need to lay down beside him. And as we wind on down the road Their shadows taller than our soul. There walks a man that we all know Who craves white light and wants to show How everything still turns to gold. And if you listen very hard The tune will come to you at last. When all are one and one is all And they tell you, “Take the class.” And they’re buying the stairway to heaven. Annnnnnndddddddd... if you play it backwards it says - Worship Veepee and he will give you 666. :evilshades:
