    Groceries

Belle, We buy a lot of veggies, - salad fixin's. I also like to make soups and chili. I don't buy cookies and sweets much, so that saves a lot. We do a lot of shopping at Costco and then fill in at our local Albertson's. I make a lot of things from scratch, but since I work and the girls have afterschool activities, I have had to balance the meals with better frozen items..I get pre-formed hamburger patties from Costco - ground sirloin that is the 90/10. We try to eat fish at least once a week. I also eat yogurt, the girls sometimes like it and sometimes don't - it depends on the what house the moon is rising in. One of my girls eats like me, the other like her father. So while one loves fruits and veggies, the other has to be bribed to eat anything green. That is where soups come in real handy.
  7. Happy Brithday Shell! I'm glad that I've gotten to know you - even just a little bit.
  8. OK! At I'm fine with commercial breaks every now and then...... Well - whenever actually. Thanks for filling me in. :B)

  11. My dad worked for the system in NYC for almost 30 years. He saw incidents that ran the gamut. It was his job to look around the apartment and look for things like new televisions and furniture and the like - anything that would indicate that there was a lot more money coming in than what they got from the City. I'll have a talk with him and ask him to describe that world from his side of the coin. I know that he saw it all - there were some folks that absolutely needed what they got and more. Then there were the drug dealers that made all their money off the books and didn't need it at all. And don't get me started on the parents that got angry because they were refused an increase on a Friday and left their kids in the office so that the city would care for them over the weekend...
  12. Cowgirl, My reference to "Master Level" has more to do with the maturity of her style and some of her skills. She's young and is going for a realistic approach. Some of her drawing skills need work - but that's normal at any age. My comment was more lamenting that all this attention could stall her instead of inspire her. The process of maturing and changing - she might feel the need to stay with a certain style because the public wants it or expects it. I'd like to see her grow and mature more - and develop herself even further. Like I said - what she is doing is amazing for a 12 year old - but not so impressive for an adult. I'm more concerned for her growth all around and not the immediate fame she is seeing.
  13. I am confused - what's with the chemistry lesson?
  14. I'm gonna weigh in on this one. She's talented - yes. VERY talented! I actually think that this publicity is going to hurt her. Sure she'll sell a lot of work and get on a lot of shows like Oprah. But in the long run, with this kind of attention so young, she's going to burn out early if someone doesn't step in and protect her. It happened with that Romanian prodigy a few years ago. Her work is amazing for a girl her age. It is not yet at "Master Level." That being said, I'm not saying that I know it all - but I do know that if she were 18 and producing these same paintings, no one would be giving her a second glance. I'd like to see everyone get out of her way and let her grow a bit more. Let her be a kid that paints instead of a child prodigy to be displayed for the world to see. In order for he work to have depth, she will need to have depth as well. Someone needs to be caring for the child in the genius instead of the genius in the child.

LOL I can talk loud - can't sing loud or at all for that matter.. I think the award should be named..."The Greasy Spoon" Sooooo - does this mean that I might need to go out and get a designer dress? Will there be a red carpet moment? "On behalf of the 11th corps I would like to thank all those folks that made it easier for us to leave......" ;)
