I guess my main point is that this story leaves me cold a bit. Did the news report the death of LG? Or of any of your loved ones? Why does this person warrant national coverage? I know I sound naive here - I assure you I understand the whole celebrity thing. It just seems sad to me. Even the reasoning that an entertainment personality demands so much respect and attention when there are some real people out there that really make a difference in real life issues and not on a screen between plastic surgery and personal trainer appointments.

Rocky, Is it really drama to say, "Good-bye?" I dunno, seems to me that when I bid a friend "Adieu" that I look them in the eye and share a moment. This being cyber space and all, well it makes sense to stay around and read the farewell wishes. Or is this against some moral code you have....? One could ask why you felt the need to post this comment on a thread that was meant to say "Good bye" to friends. Apparently you don't count yourself among those friends - so why bother....? Now I'm getting all cranky and curmudgeonly again.

Years ago I read the book Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television. It lays out pretty clearly that all television is designed to sell product. We get to watch certain shows according to what company is willing to advertise during that show. I dunno - seems that Hollywood is just one more drop in this bucket. That said, ANS's death is a trajedy to her child and her family, and I'm not one to downplay that - but perhaps there is another way to play this game......

I always have mixed feelings on this kind of news story. Why is it that Anna Nicole Smith's life and death warrant a news story with national coverage and speculation ad nauseaum; but so many more important people get passed by. I know. I know, the Hollywood thing...still it seems so wrong, so vouyeuristic. Ultimately, Hollywood promotes itself to keep the dollars coming in. Sheeeeeeeeesh now I sound like a curmudgeon!
