So maybe we should start there and then shoot for a woman president. Btw Chatty - I didn't see your post when I posted my request for a return to the subject. Maybe we were typing at the same time. Maybe I just got lazy and posted without reading - it was early!

I hope this thread can get back to the main discussion. There were a lot of great points made early on. Are we still discussing the authority of a woman as it pertains to either the workplace or society? Or are we now discussing how it relates in a marriage? I find that the media stereotypes both men and women unfavorably. If you're a man you're either a big hotshot with a taste for cheating, or a dumb brute who is helpless. If you're a woman then you're either a b*tch who can't keep her skirt down in between major corporate takeovers, or you're just a dumb bunny waiting for your man to teach you a lesson in life. Maybe what we need is an introduction of the next point and a defining of terms. I hate to see threads like this degenerate into just one or two people throwing stones at each other. Really, aren't we in essence talking about how we all in general deal with each other? Do we base a person's worth on their gender? Do we limit our view of what that person can accomplish according to whether or not they have mammary glands? It's early. I'll write more later. Got to get the kids off to school.

I searched for this segment - but I can't find it. I do remember that the chef had a more humane way of killing the lobsters - at least that's how it was touted - it involved a French knife and splitting the head in two I believe. Perhaps you can find a segment of her series with guest chefs on PBS. I haven't had any luck - although I could definitely see myself experimenting with what I remember.
-
I once saw and amazing recipe with Julia Childs and a guest chef - the lobster tails were cut before cooking and then braised on the stove in wine and broth. If I can find it I'll post it.

Someone once told me that America used to have lots of dark beer from individual breweries. But, when WWI and WWII hit and "Rosie the Riveter" was going to the bars - the popular beer became the pale ale. I'm sure there's some beer history buff out there to either confirm or disclaim my assertions. Like I said, it's only second hand information on my part.

Here's a tongue twister: If Stu chews shoes, should Stu choose to stew the shoes he chews?

I give the ole "wave and nod" frequently. Then, when I am the receipient of such a kindness I also give the "Thank you wave." As the world gets smaller it also gets bigger. What I mean is that while I can chat in real time to my brother in Italy, and call a friend 1500 miles away while I wait in a parking lot for my daughter to get out of practice, it's also easier to be just behind a computer or in a car. Those rollling cubicles are great for getting places but they sure make it easier to NOT have to interact with people. SO.....I go into the bank and greet the tellers. I try don't use the drive-thru unless I absolutely am pressed for time. I take every opportunity to keep myself firmly a part of the world around me. It just seems that to me that if I don't do these things, these little acts of humanity, that I condemn myself to a smaller world instead of the larger one I'm ultimately seeking. Ramble, ramble, ramble.....there I go again.
