oh well - sorry for the bad experience - I hated Waco but I like Houston and the city I abide in now.....

do you understand the notes you made in your bible?
doojable replied to coolchef's topic in About The Way
Yes - I understand them Yes I too was "anal" about them (Like Eyes) BUT - I only wrote down greek words that I had studied and I never took notes directly into my Bible. -
West Texas!!?? I'm not that weird! If I had my druthers, I'd still have to think long and hard. I have family in New York - but I love the coasts......(The coastline near NYC is not my idea of an ideal coastline.)

There's always Texas....San Antonio and Austin are cool.

Thank you Abi! This does cause me to breath a sigh of relief - for a moment. I would add to all of the above - never assume you're done! You always have to reestablish a sense of security and trust with your child. You always have to let them know how to protect themselves - and how to avoid getting in bad situations. I met some parents today who felt it unnecessary to invest in their child - no lessons, no enrichment. The boy has an incredible talent in art and the parents won't help him develop it at all. He has a skateboard. That's his enrichment. This young many has one awards in art for two years running - but his grades are bad. I'm sure that this young man senses his parents' lack of vision. (Mom said, "Someday he will be a real talented tattoo artist.) I just wanted to slap her!

I believe this is the personal experience. (The second half anyway - the first half still appears to be opinion.) If there's another, please help me find it. John I don't see social workers in the same vein as pschotherapists. They are usually overworked and underpaid. Their job description may not be limited to addressing potentials for problems, but many of them only choose to pick that battle. I have know many a social worker to really fight for what is right. I have also seen the system get bogged down with red tape and overzealous, cranky people trying to clear their files.

John, I'll go back and read your post - but I didnt' see an experience with psychotherapy there. I did see you avoiding psychotherapy. You seem to have had good reason so that comment is not meant to be a criticism - just an observation. Other than a bad experience with an overzealot social worker - is there something I missed??? This is a genuine queston BTW.

Speaking of sentimental.....I used to cry whenever I heard this one. My oldest and I would go through every version of a "butterfly kiss' that ever was - every night! GOSH! Now I"m crying like a baby.....and so's my daughter....

Anything for a friend, Groucho. I'm sentimental like that.

I found that song "Sam Stone' on YouTube - sorry I just can't bring myself to post it. Call me whatever - I just can't do it...

I think he figures he doesn't need to talk to greasespots. Funny, now all I can think of is that scene in the Wizard of Oz where Glenda the "good witch" says to the Wicked Witch of the West, "Begone! Before somebody drops a house on YOU!" Think we could throw some water on him and see if he melts? Seriously, I think it would be good to be able to confront LCM - but do we really believe he would ever open himself up to us "pions' getting in his face?

A friend of Steve's apparently....
