  1. He only does that because he loves me so much.......Riiiiightttttt......;) Two pix - an oldie...
  2. TWI started out appealing to the youth. Now they don't appeal to anyone. I mean - No kid would say, "Heck Ya! I want to bring my friends to this concert." Isn't it striking that a ministry the started out wanting to eschew all things religious has become just another church? - and a B-rated one at that.
  3. Thanks so much Bolshevik and Through the Looking Glass. I know that this can be hard to tell - and you certainly do not have to post a thing - none of us will be the wiser. I guess that I look at my own kids and I think about how I am raising them - piano, ballet, sports, etc. I can't imagine not giving them a well rounded life and a shot at more than I had growing up. I'm sure you have war stories as well as fond memories from your childhoods. I guess I'm looking for the balance. We all have that mix - just that most of us didn't grow up with TWI in the mix. The persepective actually helps me to empathize. I sure hope I'm making sense here.
  4. I'd say there are moments in each of our lives that we wish we could get a "do-over" in. For the sake of Ireland (their daughter) I hope that her parents both refret that this became a public matter. I hope they see that her welfare is at stake and that for them to be good parents they also need to be good adults. Unfortunately, I am also aware that the desire to put someone in their place can be so consuming that all logic and reason go out the window. People tend to show their underbelly at times like this. I try real hard to keep my kids out of the fray. If they end up in the middle of what should really be between adults - I am quick to comfort them and put things in perspective without tearing down the other person.
  5. So how many will I be cooking for this time?
  6. Hun-ney - I was just saying how clever you are..... And you do know this one don't you......
  7. Hey Bolshevik - take it slow..... breathe dollface :D I'm sure you're going through a bunch of emotions thinking about all of this. I'm not wanting answers at the expense of your feelings. If you have some good memories - post those as well. Like I said - the younger crowd has a unique perspective that we seniors don't have.
  8. I was wondering today - how was it to grow up in TWI? Did you ever become aware of the sexual indescretions? Were you taught a lot of double standards? Did the kids love the leaders or fear them? As teens were you taught that if you had sex abortion was an option? I know there are lots of questions here - but it seems to me that the view of TWI foom your perspective is unique and spread out over the Cafe. I'm hoping to get it all in one thread.

    11th Corps

Out There - I was at HQ first block and Gunnison the second - then in Emporia for the duration...sigh  I wanted to go to Rome City but now that I've heard some of the stories - I am thankful I was never there.
  10. Coast, shoreline, shore, rocks, view witch, glenda Still nothing.....where's Tom Strange - he'll get it and taunt us with his clever avoidance to answer.
  11. I'd say that too many times it wasn't "first thought" at work because that would imply there was a thought in the first place. And we all know there were no second thoughts following - hard to think when your head is up your arse and stuffed with sh)t.
  12. And now the opposite....John Thorogood and the Destroyers - Bad to the Bone
  13. Sting - When We Dance: This is so elegant visually .....
  14. This one isn't about LCM but I did have to confront a certain Rev who was born in Kentucky .... KS - tried to nail me in a friend's kitchen. His words were, "I bet you've never had a REAL MAN!" I pushed him off of me, sat with my friends and got drunk until I fell asleep. Months later I confronted him and told him I expected an apology and to be asked for forgiveness. The conversation went something like this: Him - "I NEVER did that." Me - "YES you did! I was there! The only excuse I will accept is that you don't remember it because you were possessed." Him - "Well, then I don't remember it...."
  15. Falls, water, river, Glenda, witch, wave, wand Still have to think.....
  16. HEY! I'm having those ceramic baby shoes made for Jesus so not only do I need the EXACT minute of his birth - I need his birth weight and length as well....... You Bible scholars better get right on it.....!
  17. Thanks Kevlar - I had two roomies that studied architecture but I still didn't know that - and one of them practically worshipped Mies van der Rohe. I stand corrected. Thanks ;) I have heard it the way I've coined it tho.....
  18. For the Foundational Class you HAD to speak in tongues... For the Intermediated Class you HAD to interpret and prophecy... For the Advanced...What? Walk on water? Raise the dead? Oh I know - SEE SPIDERS COMING OUT OF NOSES! (oh wait - wrong group ) Maybe they'll come up with a new theory for the Original Sin.... I'd rather do the laundry...
  19. I played flute for a year or two - or tried to anyway. Tull combines so many of my favorite things....and he made the flute cool!
  20. Jethro Tull - Living in the Past - another song in 5/8 time....thanks for that last one Ala!
