  3. You have all the basics Suda!
  4. Psalmie - we used to tip by the bag.. So I think it's a dollar a bag.
  5. Ya know....... We always said that we were designed to love God and have Holy Spirit... But we spent most of our time rejecting that idea. All those self doubts. All those face meltings because the "flowers weren't on the altar just so." Well, they weren't flowers - they were chairs. And they weren't on an altar, they had to be strung in a perfect line. And the mints had to be on the lecturn (next to the alcoholic drink of the MOG's choice.) It all went to undermine "Love God and your neighbor as yourself." We didn't love ourselves. We hated ourselves because we were weak and had unrenewed minds. We didn't love our neighbors because they were either unbelievers or off the Word. We certainly couldn't love God because he wouldn't have us.......... What a dose of spiritual valium!

King Okie teaching about color would be the equivalent of Helen Keller teaching on How to Cut Hair.
  7. One of my favorite songs - Cat Stevens - "Father and Son"

I remember when there was a study done about color and music. All of a sudden LCM was an expert on painting. Good Gawd! What a mess! I was a professional picture framer and P*t L*nn tried to tell me that I didn't know what I was doing.... And then there was that fiasco "Athletes of the Spirit"....... Is it any wonder that the music went downhill? It would be the equivalent of me trying to tell a brain surgeon how to do his job.... Well - at least I know what a brain is and where it belongs.
  9. Java Jane As a working artist and drawing teacher I think I can answer you. You started out so filled with ideas, so filled with inspiration, so wanting to make your statement. The along came the inner critic - carefully honed by the rantings that LCM and VPW gave out of their ignorance. So now you have an idea and you stop before you even started. You find yourself asking if this is spiritually correct. Does it line up with the Word? Question after question after question that leaves you drained and wondering why you ever even started that project to begin with. STOP! Breathe! Your art is a reflection of your soul. You are putting yourself out there for all to see. Don't start self-editing before you even start. Remember that your message will reach someone and that you have something worth saying. PM me and I can give you some things I did to get started. If pressed I can post them here - but I'd rather keep this private unless I hear a number of folks wanting to know.
  10. Crosby, Stills and Nash - "Teach Your Children" beautiful harmony

Sudo - Bob Stanley had Acts29 I believe and they had more of a rock sound that was supposed to appeal to the younger crowd at the time. I was in Houston in the early '80's when his group and Takit became popular in the ministry. In my opinion, VPW and LCM had no business trying to direct artists. They had no training and they had no taste. I heard rant after rant by LCM about how daVinci was overrated.
  13. Here's a fun tune - Brian Setzer and the Stray Cats - "Bring It Back"
  14. It used to hit me that the way we were taught to pray in TWI basically put God in the role of puppet with us as his puppet masters. That's sick! Now I am much more humble and honest when I pray. I treat prayer like a conversation. I have to be painfully honest, painfully vulnerable and humble with God and myself. The end result is that I have found that I am much more honest and vulnerable in my daily life. Not that I'm a pushover....but I try not to put on airs. I still screw up on a regular basis - but I am quick to apologize, quick to own my mistakes. For me this all goes into a healthy prayer life. I try not to have different personnae. In other words, it seems to me that it's all too easy to act one way in your daily life and then try to go to God in prayer and become a completely different person. I'm striving for consistency.
  15. We have Fuddruckers here in Texas as well. Google the name and you'll get the official website - where you can find the Feiddruckers nearest to you. I've never eaten there myself....Too many other choices for great food where I live.
  16. I normally tip 15% - I was a waitress and I know how hard it is. If they are exceptional I give 20%. I tip my hair dresser about 15% if I can... I don't tip people that don't serve me. Now, I had a "reverend" once try to tell me that I shouldn't tip because the employer paid the waitresses and he was just paying them again. He said he was trying to change the system =- but I thought he was just cheap.
  17. Jonny - are the considered "farm raised" or "wild"? And did you already say what kind of salmon these were??
