I went to Playa del Sol - nice and not too crowded. There's a tiny zoo that is kinda fun too.

The Allman Brothers - "Jessica"

I saw the wisdom of a mini-van way back before I ever had kids. The concept of each child having their own ROW! Genius! One of my brothers would always complain that the other brother was LOOKING at him. Or.. TOUCHING HIM... OR BREATHING HIS AIR....

I don't listen to much country, but I saw this today and I thought it was beautiful:Faith Hill and Tim MeGraw - "I Need You":

You will set up iTunes with your card credit card number once. It's easy. I've had two in the house - both the shuffle and the Nano. I like them -and I want one of my own.....(too bad my kids won't see this..LOL)

And I thought you came back here for the Hazlenut coffee....

And because you never walked in their shoes, you cannot be the ultimate judge of how or if they have erred. It may have been the ultimate prison for them - a prison of the heart.

John, I didn't have major bad things happen to me while I was in, but sometimes I'll read something and something from my past will slip into place. I wouldn't call that a reinforcement; I'd call it an awakening. There is no right or wrong way for this awakening to happen. Your feelings on your time in does in no way invalidate another person's memories and feelings. We all came from different backgrounds before we were in. That colored not only our time in but also our exit. I for one am glad that you shared what you did above. It's so much more interesting than the slapfest that happens when you and other posters lob insults at each other. People don't fit in nice neat little boxes. There is no "one size fits all" way to move on after "a hitch." Even some military folk end up greatly disliking their time in. Conversely, it doesn't make you evil if you regard your time in and your time since TWI as a basically positive thing. Some people in the military see battle and come out scarred, others do their time and get out having learned an intense discipline that works in that environment but doesn't work in civilian life. Both sets of people need to learn to function differently than they did before.

PB- I keep telling you - I don't know much about music. I have some amazing friends that teach me a bunch and make requests..... I'm merely their DJ.

Somewhere in the deep, dark, corners of my recipe file I have a bunch of recipes from Gunnison. There just may be a millet recipe in there. I'm moving this weekend. Give me some time to settle and re-surface and I'll get back to you.

Yes, but so many of us were adolescents when we got involved with TWI. The fight was "taught out of us" and it was successful because we believed we were doing it for God's will. So much potential...so much raw energy for God...... I can only hope that the time we share here at the Cafe will help some of us regain that which was stolen.

The fact is that there are laws that govern this situation. I just am not aware of the laws on the books in this particular situation. (Not that I"m a lawyer - and I don't play one on TV) Find the law that makes this ok. Then if you don't like it write to your representative.

I'm glad that God looks at our hearts. OK I"m done with this line of thought. WHO would like to say why they keep coming back to GSC?

I'm sorry but this is too much... I have a lot of patience for a lot of things. But to take a thread and turn it into a fault finding hunt is beyond sanity. I just happened to "Reply" to the last post here.....it's rampant all over the thread. The thread was derailed and then got back on track. Rascal hasn't even posted here in a bunch of posts....what is the deal? I wonder just what was learned since leaving TWI..... I'd rather hear why you like to return to GSC than hear the bickering and fighting that occurs because someone doesn't dot their "i's" and cross their "t's"

"Breather," "bra," "thought".....whatever....;)

I needed my interlinear.....

OK simple question here: Isn't a metaphor (NOT a "meadow for"...;)) defined as a comparison using "like or as"? I'm wondering because then Belle's usage would be correct.... But what do I know - I'm Italian.....

Ahhhhhh! I understand now. Read for understanding! Read for understanding!

Jackson Browne - "For Everyman" For Danny U2 - "City of Blinding Lights"

What song is it Danny? I may have posted it on the Music Lovers thread. And - thanks for the kind words. My girls are my life. And there are MANY fine people here at GSC - even those that sometimes can be rough around the edges. ;) Come often, drink lots of coffee, (we need the money ;)) and stay as late as you like. I'm sure Paw will leave the light on for you.

I read Too Gray's story and I was reminded of this poem. I used to read it a lot when I was a teenager - for reasons I will not go into now - but I can say it had nothing to do with me. Invictus William Ernest Henley. 1849–1903 OUT of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.
