I feel a limerick coming on......;)
  2. He never quite outgrew that goofiness - he just refined it. Then when he met someone who was truly talented and gifted, he used them to make himself look better and bigger - while making that person feel "not spiritual" for their talent and gifts. (Doesn't this sound familiar.....) The funny thing is that SB and H became real good friends......I knew them all and saw them together. (I worked with SB at HQ for a while, so I got to know her real well.) I've had suspicions for years about all that - but they are only suspicions so I won't voice them. I do seem to remember one of those women telling me that she did pedicures for VPW.....
  3. Don't forget, Catcup - Hitler claimed that God backed him up. Who's gonna argue with God?
  4. Oldies you really like this way of talking - the whole "willing participants" analogy... When a plane is hijacked the people on that plane are there because they bought the tickets. The difference is that they had one desination in mind and the hijacker has another. That's the thing. So many of us were wanting to do so much for God. The fact that a lot of good was done for God and His people has much more to do with our drive and enthusiasm than with our knowlege of "the Word." Sure, the class made many of us feel free from the religion of our parents. The stuffy suits and religious repetition held nothing for us. We wanted to move for God! And move we did. Out of our homes, out of our neighborhoods, all across the country to spread..... a CLASS! We said, we thought, we believed we were spreading the Word. But we were spreading a class! A class we believed was handed to VP by God, not assembled with sticky notes from the work of other men. We bought our tickets. We thought we were going to "Serve God." We ended up on a ride that led us to "Serve Men." THAT is hijacking.
  5. Talent, drive, enthusiasm, and most importantly hunger for the truth and a deep desire to know God. Not only were people's lives hijacked, GOD was stolen from. Yea, yea, yea - someone's gonna say, "But Dooj, where would we have been without TWI? We would still be in our ruts and searching." To which I say, "God is bigger than TWI." He would have found a way...
  6. I think that God has a way of meeting us where we are. Jonny, you were ready to hear something about him. Anne Marie was ready to talk. Those first two years were great - but what if He had something else for you to go to after those two years were over? Just what if you weren't looking to go somewhere else because you were told that there was nothing else out there. Basically, in the long run, God was squeezed out of the equation, as were peoples' hearts and their worth. We don't know what we don't know.....
  7. Smarmy: ADJECTIVE: Inflected forms: smarm·i·er, smarm·i·est 1. Hypocritically, complacently, or effusively earnest; unctuous. See synonyms at unctuous. 2. Sleek. I'd also add - "slick" Unctious: ADJECTIVE: 1. Characterized by affected, exaggerated, or insincere earnestness: “the unctuous, complacent court composer who is consumed with envy and self-loathing” (Rhoda Koenig). 2. Having the quality or characteristics of oil or ointment; slippery. 3. Containing or composed of oil or fat. 4. Abundant in organic materials; soft and rich: unctuous soil. I'd also add - "greasy" No matter how you put it - the guy makes Larry Flint look classy.
  8. Yea, Groucho.... I know lots more about that guy than I want to know. He was a smarmy VP-wanna-be. I hesitate to sully this thread any further with that scum-sucking bottom feeder....
  9. Did anyone catch the one where the man puts a condom on a woman's folded umbrella? Then there's the one where the kid shows just how much one Trojan can hold. (impressive amount of water!) I also like the glow-in-the-dark condom commercial..... And Chas, I agree with you about the commercial from Germany - that seems like a huge incentive to "put a helmet on that soldier!"
  10. Let's just say that there's a reason he was allowed into the inner circle....He learned from "his master" all too well. It turns my stomach to remember the things he did....
  11. I may be wrong here, but K*n S*dduth wasn't Corps when they married. He was College division later. I know this because was there in the College when I was in rez. I have NOTHING good to say about that man.....

As long as my tiara doesn't get sticky..... I can use it as one of the desserts - you know how I am - I have to have plenty around so that everyone has plenty to eat and some can even take some home to their families.

Dooj starts making the lists..... Pots, pans, food, desserts... Now where is my tiara...? ;)
  15. I'd love to have your feedback Todd - also, it would be cool to do a podcast together -perhaps with some other artists - but that would take more coordination....
  16. Take another hit - that will help.... ;)
  17. OK two things - slightly off topic but not too far off: My Dad has always, ALWAYS had a horrible memory. Lately it started getting much worst. He was diagnosed with Altzheimer's about a month ago. He's never smoked reefer and he's 83. If this man that you met was having his 70th birthday, it is entirely possible that his memory loss has absolutely nothing to do with reefer and everything to do with his age. OTOH - my sis-in-law is a member of MENSA. She also has Myosthenia Gravis (sp?) In effect, this is a disease where the immune system acts overtime..... She keeps pot in the house and smokes it in small but regular amounts. She's got a better memory and mind than her husband who is quite brilliant in his own right - but also drinks a LOT. It's not just something you can draw conclusions on and make snap judgements about.
  18. I'm listening now...I say "Ummm" too much.
  19. It should be entitled "Creative Arts." with today's date.
  20. This is how I'm listening to it now: Talkshoe
  21. Where is the link so that I can listen to it and see if I made a fool out of myself (or just how big a fool, that is...;))
  22. Sometimes you can go to frame shops and ask them to save their mat scraps for you. Go in about every 4 months and they will give you a pile of heavy colored mat board. This can be used for a bunch of stuff. I also go to Hobby Lobby for craft supplies in bulk. You can also approach Guilds - go through a Needlepoint and Embroidery shop, a shop that sells quilting supplies or any place that runs classes for the various guilds that partake in these classes. Tell them what you need and bring them a big laundry basket. Ask them to put any scraps in there and that you'll pick them up about every three months. If you let the supplies build up too much they get upset because it just feels like trash is building up.
  23. Hey! Half a brain is better than no brain at all.....;)
  24. Oh geez! Now I'll never get any sleep....;) You can bug me anytime, Dear.
