I might make a cheesecake or two. But that isn't all that I do. I can make a nice torte Of the chocolate sort. I can even make tiramisu!

Also Jonny - Outward Bound doesn't require that it's participants hitch hike there.... I know you won't deny that the hitching was dangerous.....
  5. Yea - I bet the excuse would have been - "Well, Jesus is the head of the Church so he's IN the minister." - or some chit like that..
  6. This one is a stretch - and it's also a one pic puzzle. Old, old TV show

Strange One - The Limerick thread from last year has been resurrected. I figured it was better than starting a new one - I just hope no one gets confused....Also, it kinda keeps a fun sort of timeline - should we make the BBQ's a tradition - regardless of the location.

ANYONE can make themselves look good for five minutes... I guess all that time would tell you is if you'd want to spend an hour with the person.

    Texas BBQ

One year later and we're doing it again. A Texas BBQ that will tempt you, my friend. Come one, come all! Don't be shy. We only bite BBQ and sausage and pie. Our hostess with the mostest will be the lovely Ex10. First weekend in November is when we will meet. The Woodlands is where Ex10 and her hubby will greet All of you Greasespotters who grace their home. You'll want to be there! You won't want to roam! Such a great time just can't be beat!
  17. I should know better than to comment on Language without checking it. I could blame it on my right-brainedness.... but I won't.....
  18. NO problem at all Java Jane.... I know you're a perfectionist ;) Actually I kept saying to myself, "A metaphor uses 'like' or 'as.'" I had it wrong in my head.... I stand corrected and I bow to your training. ;)
  19. It showed up - but the point of a metaphor, simile, or hyperbole is to be stronger than a mere comparison. So.... "Wi*rw*lle is a two-bit Jimmy Swaggert." Is a simile (which is a figure of speech of comparison for emphasis.) "Even Hitler's mother loved him." This isn't even a figure of speech. It's just a smart arse remark that really is true. Hitler's mother loved him. Hitler most likely loved someone in his lifetime and I bet some folks thought he was a good guy. Can you tell me what you see that is not credible? I'm not being evasive here. I just didn't go through and review every post as I wrote this.
  20. "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse." "He can run like the wind." "I'm gonna slap the stupid off of his face." These are all extremes. Each of them are impossible (one is a comparison that is "unbelievable") That's the point of a figure of speech...... Fourth grade English. Now, regarding analogy - the stronger the similarities, the stronger the analogy will be. Note that they need only be similiarities and NOT exactly point for point identical. I'll look up a link...
  21. Say,"Four. And Jesus in the midst." ;)
  22. Perhaps we should take this to another thread....? I hate to sully the Anniversary of good people with "Tales of the Creep."
  23. I strayed....sorry. Happy Anniversary to all you happy couples out there!
  24. Yea, yea... you guys don't fool me. ;) I'll post soon - work and home are calling my name right now.
