  1. So does this mean that you're gonna get me a present since you didn't get me one on my real birthday? ;)

She need a truck to move a truck...
  3. Likeaneagle - nutmeg can be bought in a ground form - at any grocery store. But you can also buy the "nut" and grind it yourself with a special grinder. I'd go to a good spice store and ask them.
  4. And Chowder? Seems to me I thought that there's a chowder that involves fish heads... Cod?
  5. Oldies - I wasn't saying that speaking in tongues was gobbletygook. BUT how do you know that you are speaking a real language? It's a valid question. The point is that not everything that we believe(d) and were taught is spelled out in Scripture. If you want to play the "how do you know" game then be prepared to catch that ball when it thrown back at you.
  6. I have a recipe for Italian Pot Roast in a crock pot - but it's a home and I'm at work. This uses tomato sauce and beef bullion (I think) My grandmother made it when I was a kid - but I was going to try this and see how it goes in a crock pot. If you go to Allrecipes.com they and type in "Crockpot Pot Roast" I bet you'll get some good ideas. Please share your findings! ;)

    I'm such a character? Moi? ;)
  8. Just a note Abi - They used to make ink from black walnut hulls.
  9. Okay. Hopefully this will be fun. I like to try new recipes and then change them a bit. I figure a lot of you do too. Take a recipe and try it, then post the changes you'd like to make or have made. I'll start: Here's WG's delicious chicken recipe: Of course as with all WG recipes, seasonings can be adjusted to taste. 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts. juice of 2 limes 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped or put through a garlic press about 3 TBSP olive oil. 2 Tablespoons olive oil 1 teaspoon ground cumin 2 green peppers 1 red sweet pepper (mango to you Buckeyes) 1 can diced chile peppers OR 1 fresh jalapeno 1 sweet onion such as Vidalia or Walla Walla sweets, thinly sliced as separated into rings. 1/2 cup coarsely chopped cilantro leaves Salsa and chips. Combine in a freezer bag or baking dish the lime juice, garlic and 3 TBSP olive oil. Add chicken breasts and turn to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator 1/2 hour. In the meanwhile, Thinly slice the onions and sweet peppers. Heat the 2 Tbsp. olive oil in a heavy skillet and sautee the peppers and onions in it, adding the chile peppers or jalapeno and the cumin. Remove when tender crisp and keep warm. Remove the chicken from the marinade and put it in the pan in which you cooked the veggies. Add a bit of the marinade if you like. Cook on medium heat until done. Put the veggies back in the pan to warm a bit with the cilantro added at the last minute. Serve with chips and salsa. I loved it! The next time I make it I would like to try: Cutting the chicken in strips, adding diced tomatoes to the veggies, and deglazing the pan with white wine. I'd also like to serve it all like fajitas with fresh tortillas.
  10. I wasn't trying to step on any toes there Rascal. Hopefully you and I are "good."
  11. The fruit indicates the type of tree and the health of the tree. Apples come from apple trees. Unhealthy conditions or unhealthy trees produce either unhealthy fruit or no fruit at all... A spiritual person will produce spiritual fruit. If that person is spiritually unhealthy, they will either produce no fruit or unhealthy spiritual fruit. At least that's how I understand it.

I see Shellon getting a recipe out of this... "Give me the recipe or the lid gets it!"
  13. How do you know the same thing about yourself?
  14. Unfortunately, I had come to believe that SIT was how I communed with Christ, because it was "Christ in me." Me, me, me... Something wrong with that picture. As for the other question Oldies... If me finding the "Word of Truth" is dependent on (here it is again) MY work - then it appears that God is playing a game of hide-and-seek. I find the truth. I do the work. I rightly divide the Word. I am knowlegeable (but I have no wisdom because I've got my nose stuck in a concordance and my head stuck up my I "find" God. (Even though He's not lost, I am.) Just how soon before I get puffed up in MY work and MY knowlege? How soon before I make a god of myself and my abilities? God in a box - gift wrapped and tied with a bow... <_<

  19. Think about it... I'll see how you're doing in a couple of hours...
  20. VP said in PFAL: To the extent and in the proportion that we Rightly divide the Word of Truth we will have the God-breathed Word." I still say that this puts us too in control and allows us to limit God.
  21. Describing something and being something are entirely different. I don't believe that all of the LOGOS is in writing. Not "the Logos" Jesus and not "the Logos" God. In fact, I believe that to say that is limiting God severely to a bunch of words on a page that can be misread and misinterpreted. THAT teaching was not VP's. He stole that one as well. He only changed a very few of the words. Billy Graham taught that teaching first.
  22. This sounds Yummy! I'm going to make it tonight! Thanks WG!
  23. With all due respects, AnotherDan, without Rev W's imput we can't say anything for certain. His silence could just be a result of him being busy. It could be because to speak up would hurt an innocent person. It could just be that for him to post his reasons for leaving would stir things up in him that he'd rather leave buried. I'd respect his wishes and leave it at that. I see no reason to speculate. IMHO
