    WIPE OUT!

Oh I dunno, Bumpy. It seems the thread turned out fun - even if it didn't start out that way. It may be that there is a language barrier, or a culture barrier, and what you think comes out as cute and funny just gets lost in translation. Have a good weekend - but I'll take that wine too. ;)

Soooo... How do we get you to sit a spell?
  4. I copied that recipe from The Joy of Cooking (sorry for not citing it properly.) I also usually soak beans overnight... then I rinse them and add more water. Then I simmer them a bit. This second soaking tends to ..ummm...rinse the farts out... If you don't like curry, try cumin or chili powder. It makes for a happier get together should the event take place indoors. Edited to say that I'd also add some garlic.
  5. Hope we get to do some dancing at the BBQ!

Calm down Bumpy. Sheeesh! *rolling my eyes here* A tempest in a teacup - refers to arguments how small some of the arguments here can be in the grand scheme of things. (I actually thought you'd like that one...) Coffee mug - is a play on words because this is a "Cafe" and not a "Tea Room" OUR - because there are a LOT of folks registered here. Schoolyard politics - hmmmm - I never played this game - but I watched it all around me. Go to any schoolyard at lunchtime - you'll see what can happen. Now - just what did you think I'd say? You seem to have a pre-conceived idea about me - and I can almost assure you, from the tone you've taken, that you are completely wrong. I need to go get some coffee...

So...which ten percent would you want to keep? And what would you like to see gone? BTW - at first you wanted 100% gone - make up your mind, please. ;) Would you: Keep the Prayer threads? The Memorium threads? What about all the silly jokes? What about when someone posts something in Open and it's a story about their child or a loved one or a friend? Tell me Herr Bum*** what would you want to delete?
  12. Italian-Style Roast Ingredients: 1- 6 oz can tomato paste 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 pkg dry onion soup mix 2 tsp fresh oregano, chopped 2 tsp fresh thyme, chopped 1 tsp salt 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper 2 lbs chuck roast, trimmed of any excess fat 1 - 16 oz can tomatoes, drained and chopped 1 medium onion, chopped 2 medium carrots, chopped 1 medium potato, chopped 1 large celery stalk, sliced 2 bay leaves Directions: In a small mixing bowl, combine the tomato paste, garlic, onion soup mix, oregano, thyme, salt and pepper. Rub this mixture all over the chuck roast and place the roast in the stoneware. Add the remaining ingredients and any leftover tomato sauce. Cover and cook on Low 8 to 10 hours or on High 4 to 5 hours. Makes 6 servings. You may double all the ingredients for a 5, 6, or 7-quart slow cooker. This recipe is from www.crock-pot.com
  13. You could cut up some aparagus into 1" pieces and add it to the sauce in the last ten minutes or so - keep it crisp/tender. I'm gonna go look up that Italian Pot Roast recipe now...look on the "Slow Cooker" thread in a few. ;)

I was just glad to get done with it all. ;)
  15. Here's what I got: I think this could be done in a crock pot as well. Soak 1 1/2 cups dried beans Cover them with water. Bring to a boil, then simmer slowly fo 1/2 hour or more, until tender. Preheat oven to 250* Drain ythe beans, reserving the cooking water, and add: 1/2 cup chopped onion 2 or 3 TBS ketchup 1 TBS dry mustard 1 tsp salt 1/2 cup boiling bean water or beer (I'd use the beer ;)) 1/2 tsp vinegar 1 tsp curry powder 1 TBS Worcestershire sauce Place beans in a greased baking dish, decorate them with 1/4 lb. sliced salt pork (or bacon strips) Bake covered 6 to 9 hours. If they become dry, add a little Well seasoned stock (like beef stock) or some reserved bean water Uncover the beans for the last hour of cooking.
  16. If you want to soften the flavor of the sundried tomatoes, you can had some chopped fresh tomatoes (or canned diced tomatoes in a pinch.) Start the chicken first, have all your ingredients pre-measured and cut and make your sauce while the chicken cooks. Did you place the chicken on a bed of pasta? I can see this with bowtie pasta. It would make a pretty dish for company.

Not to sound too mean and heartless here - but you can do that very thing for yourself, Bumpy. You can DELETE the GSC bookmark from your computer and never come back to visit. In effect that would give you the chance to have the "new" beginning you speak of. I'm not telling you to leave GSC - it's not my style. It's never been a goal of mine to force someone to leave - how silly is that? This place may be a tempest in a teacup (coffee mug ) at times - but it's OUR coffee mug and we get to choose the tempests we will weather. To force someone to leave (or try) is really just schoolyard politics - and I never played those games even back in HS.
  18. Hey Psalmie, One thing I've learned here is that some folks just say stuff because they can. Good, bad, funny, whatever - they stir the pot and throw words around just to get a reaction.
  19. Aren't the sharks about to converge somewhere near San Francisco? :evildenk:
  20. Not only do we have room for her - we can even convert two more to our evil ways.... :evildenk:
  21. I liked the video. I didn't know how to respond through my tears...
  22. Well, I'm gonna paint that car red and make it a convertible...then I'm riding with the top down.
  23. Not only heartless... it's downright cruel!
  24. You men....always want to tell someone to stick something up an arse... ;)
