  1. Hootie and the Blowfish - "Let Her Cry"
  2. As it should be...Especially when the person saying it is Italian... :biglaugh:
  3. LOL...Soylent Green is People! Opps! wrong thread!
  4. I believe that Job's children were adults. (Can someone verify that? I can't get my Bible out right now.) According to VPW's own rhetoric, they would have been responsible to believe for themselves.
  5. Heck! This is Texas. We'll BBQ just about anything! ....Now where did I put my spatula...?
  6. I knew that... I guess I wanted to make a further point and I realized it may get lost in the joke. Enjoy the day...
  7. I see your point about not wanting to validate a temper tantrum. (If I'm putting the wrong words in your mouth, I apologize.) I don't share your opinion. That's fine. And I don't think that the way to a man's heart has anything to do with food, but I do think that offering someone a meal helps make them feel more welcomed. Need a warm-up on that coffee? ;)
  8. Good thoughts Lifted Up. I don't know if it's possible though. While the internet offers a great opportunity to meet folks you wouldn't normally meet. It also offers an even greater opportunity for anonymity. I think the bottom line is that if a person wants people to get to know them, then that person reaches out. I believe that the beginning of every relationship starts with honesty and mutual respect. It's not impossible to establish that here in cyberland - but it may be harder to maintain.
  9. Awwww ... Larry... You mean all those biscuits and gravy didn't help make you feel more welcomed? Shoot, and I was gonna make some huevos rancheros too... Why do we need a popularity contest? Just be who you are. Everyone gets breakfast as long as they get their little butts up to the counter and sit long enough to order and eat. Topics like these come and go a lot here. I've been here just shy of two years and I've plenty of them. This thread was obviously started out of frustration. Sometimes a thread like this is started by a newbie who really wants to stir up some chit. Sometimes the thread dies quickly, other times it lasts...
  10. Depends on the situation WTH. Some folks can't seem to think of something to say because of their own anger. Others still feel like you don't like them. I've known many a person in this second category. They believe you don't like them so they are uncomfortable around you, then they talk about how uncomfortable they are and how much you hate them. It never really has anything to do with how you feel - because they haven't asked. It's really how they believe you feel - and that seems to take precedence in their minds. To reconcile you have to make the first move. Sometimes you need to obviate a bit and anticipate how they feel - hopefully a simple question asked in honesty will get the ball rolling.
  11. Yes but... most of our memories of a clique come from High School... or TWI ;)... or our children's High School experiences... You may have cited a definition - but the word carries a strong connotation.
  12. How did you get "exclusive" from Ex10's post? I happen to not be in a clique - though I've been accused of it. I know a few posters here (I most likely would know more if I knew their names instead of their screen names) from real life. I know quite a few posters here because I've taken the time to get to know them. I like reminsicing. I like meeting new folks. For the most part, I like people. I don't reject many people out of hand. Even when I don't agree with a person, I dont' see them as inferior. Now, if someone really feels like I am in a clique, then that is completely cool! I was never in a clique before. I wonder what I should wear to the meetings... Is the dress "casual" or "casually elegant"? ;)
  13. There was another time... same corps, same year. We were all in a room - no stage. There were about twenty of us sitting in a semi-circle and there was at least ten minutes of humiliation.
  14. Maybe he realized what an "empty threat" that was...
  15. This is similiar to Eli the prophet. He was still a prophet when he recognized that Samuel was being called of God - but God didn't talk to him. I'm sure folks still consulted him, still believed his words. Perhaps he even gave good advice, Godly advice, so-to-speak. However, he knew better than to ignore when Samuel said that he had a dream and that God had spoken to him in that dream. Eli was no longer able to hear God - yet he was able to do some things for God. Makes you wonder about VPW. It is entirely possible that he was able to do lots of stuff that seemed Godly and perhaps even were - but he most likely was so far out in left field that he was mowing someone else's lawn...
  16. Agreed Abi. I think that VPW sought out any knowledge that went across the traditional grain. The more he could do to distance himself from "the masses," the better. I think that the arcane served to keep folks glued to the ministry simply so they could feel like they were "in the know."
  17. Here's something I heard: If "the law of believing works for saint and sinner alike," then why do I need to pray? And - if fear is so powerful, then how weak is God? Compare and contrast amongst yourselves... There will be a test on Monday...
  18. If you read this without PFAL glasses on - you'd say that Job was afraid something would happen and it did. That doesn't mean that his fear was the cause of his troubles. The book of Job is a difficult book at best. I don't talk about it much because I heard too many people say that basically, the Devil made a bet with God and God allowed Job to be the ante. I'll leave further discussion to others... Is that all you got? This one verse from Job? If so you have very little.
  19. Most likely both ;) Her theory was that if you didn't hear a person speak in tongues, you had no proof they were saved so you had to assume... And of course, the ONLY way to KNOW a person was saved was to make them take PFAL It really took the wind out of one's sails when you met a person who already spoke in tongues...Now there was no bait.
  20. If Hank spits on your shoes do the shoes then become "holy shoes"? Do the feet inside said shoes then become holy as well and worthy to dance in a production of "Atheletic Supports of the Spirit"? Does that then mean that the rest of the body becomes holy and able to wear tights in public?
  21. I heard a certain clergy's wife refer to anyone who did not have the class as a "rank unbeliever." To which I responded, " OH? How do you know this? Did God show you a black heart?"
  22. OMG! OMG! This is an event of near apocalyptic proportions!
  23. I think this was Sudo's dance teacher... :biglaugh:
