You know.... TWI was a cult. Through the years, in one way or another, believers were pitted against each other in a competition that had nothing to do with a spiritual competition. Who was believing more? Who ran more classes? Who got ordained? Who got the better assignments? Who sold out their brother because they suspected he was gay, or not abundantly sharing? The list is endless and nauseating... It is any wonder that that competition has bled onto the forums? The infighting, the backbiting, all of it. When is enough enough? Stop it! Grow up! This is getting sickening...

And "Ignore" isn't slamming a door in a face??!!!.. You talk out of both sides of your mouth sometimes.

Glad to be of assistance... Na na na na - I can't hear you! I got my eyes closed.... How old are you? Is what they say about you right?... you are a plant who is feigning "niceness" to keep making a mess out of what you don't agree with? Do you have a motive? Or is this entertainment for you?

Why is this going on here? Larry - is this really the way you plan on spending your time? Ignore - Insult - Instigate? You seem to want to portray such superiority then you go and play like a child. What's your motivation in all this? I just don't get it...

did you ever hear wierwille speaking in tongues and/or interpret ?

Oh? Then you must never have been an Intermediate Class where the tongues were timed with a stop watch, and then the interpretation was also timed. And God help the person that was more than a few seconds off on either side. Legalism my foot... I can see a balance... but to go on and on and on about how you had to obey Scripture and then say, "Well God understands and accepts..." WTF? It was a double standard at best - and it was used to beat believers over the head and tell them how unspiritual they were. You saw and instance where someone was allowed to not participate...GREAT! That was the exception and not the rule. How do I know? I know what we were taught in the Corps and told to do on the field... -
Good points Belle. I shouldn't have jumped on this thread so quickly. I have a real sarcastic streak and my humor came out wrong. OTOH - I felt exactly the same way as Belle here when I posted that first post. Maybe I can take that one step further - the "hot" factor in sex is great. But if there is no relationship then even hot sex cools to being lukewarm. Then again, I'm not a man - so what do I know...

Of course it violated that. That's why when I ran an Intermediate class I had to do some song and dance about how God was okay with us all speaking in tongues at the same time. And why it was okay to have more than two or three people manifest. The first intermediate class I took was split up into groups with ten to a group - try gettting "two or at the most by three" with ten people - and have them repeat it more than once so they can "practice." Then along came the arrogance of timing it all.. John, if you can't come up with scripture, then all you got is rhetoric - and that can be found on every street corner be it in a church or in a bar. <_< Except sometimes what you hear in a bar is more honest... -

No John, I'm sorry but your logic is flawed. Paul was correcting a practical error (at least according to VP) He was telling them NOT to have a meeting that was confusing and was more about pride than God. We stopped calling them "Practice sessions" in favor of "excellor sessions" the emphasis was on the one excelling - hence it was about pride. When we did "Practice" interpretation and prophecy - it was always more than two or three at a time. Find me a scriptural reference that makes that Okay... -
Twinky, I'm thrilled for you. When our Nooger bear (Noogs for short) would go out for days at a time, we'd say she was out on one of her "poker nights." Clean her up. Love her up. Fix her up Then give her her favorite spot to nap in and tell her that if she does that again...you'll still welcome her into the house.

So when you smoke a pig - do you roll it in a paper or stuff it in a pipe..?

Out There - it's good to see you.

YOu mean because of the purge...?

You "Simon the Sorceror" you ;) I like Sci-fi. I remember Loy yelling and screaming about how devilish "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" was - but I liked the movie and I never bought into his reasoning. I like SOME fantasy - but not all. My kids get to read what interests them. The oldest got interested in the "Eragon" series - about a dragon. It was written by a young man when he was 16. His older sister illustrated the cover. I figure God isn't so weak that he can't work around a few books.

Jonny - I mistook your meaning and you apparently mistook mine...

Dot he died back in 1997 I think. I still cry when I hear some of his songs. "Hard to Get" off the Jesus Album is one of those songs that choke me up every single time. Someday I'd like to get a copy of the video, "Homeless Man."

Jonny - you negated any seriousness with your first post. If you wanted to be serious you would have spoken more highly of the wonderful qualities of your very own sweet wife. As far as any stirring goes... you've been known to ladle it on pretty thick. I'll keep quiet now and let you guys continue...

I dunno.. he says that he got the lion's share of the family...."heirlooms."

Paging Honnalee...paging Honnalee.... There's a Mr. Lingo on the line...he keeps talking about some t-shirt...

There'd be no room for it. What with that bagel in there and all... I still say you should just get a lunchbox.

You know....here's some flawed logic for you... I used to go through the reasons for excellor sessions. I'd say that just like someone from China can't say their "R" sounds because their natural language has no such sound, we would sometimes need to make a sound or group of sounds that was foriegn to our mouths. Hence the need for excellor sessions. BUT - when I speak in tongues in my head - there is no mouth that moves. No tongue gets tangled up. There is no stuttering and stumbling. This is what finally convinced me that the whole "excellor session" thing was a bunch of bunk, hooie and hogwash. If SIT is perfect - then it should stand to reason that tongues would be perfect when I did it in my head. The only reason for stumbling would be to get my body to do respond to a language with foreign sounds. John you still can't find a Biblical, scriptural reason and justification for excellor sessions. Please return the prizes at the door. -
Funny you should say that dmiller. I just today pulled out my copy of The Jesus Album and listened to it for the first time in a long time. I also like the song "If I Stand" I can't find a video of it tho...

One of my favorite songs - I am posting it separately for those who can't view all the concert:"Screen Door"
