  1. So back to the subject of forgiveness (sorry for my momentary departure)... There is no timetable given for getting to the place where "when you pray, forgive," is to happen. So it cannot be demanded by anyone person. There is a process that only God and a person can go through together. There is a cleansing that happens when forgiveness is asked for and granted. (As Groucho stated already.) When a person knows they done wrong and then asks forgiveness, it is a very humbling experience. There's a big difference between saying, "I'm sorry," and saying, "I was wrong will you forgive me." The first statement just speaks of how the wrondoer feels. The second statement puts the power and control in the hands of the wronged person. I have found myself in the position of responding to a request for forgiveness, "I'm not ready just yet." Usually in a case like this, I have to work through some very deep soul searching issues and maybe even ask some questions. THAT builds a relationship. THAT brings reconciliation.
  2. More from Ezekiel: Ezekiel 33:2-7: v2. Son of man, speak to the children of they people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: v3. If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; v4. Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. v5. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. v6. But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand. v7. So, thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. The next few verses repeat the verses in Ezekiel 3 that have already been posted. Twice! He repeats the same warning twice. Don't even try to silence me if I see evil - it won't bode well for anyone...
  3. This is why we must never forget, why we must continue to warn: Ezekiel 3:17-21 v17. Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. v18. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thouu givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. v19. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast deliverd thy soul. v20. Again, When a rightesous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. v21. Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou has delivered thy soul.

  5. Well then we will all live forever! ;) Or at least until hell freezes over...
  6. Maybe its because you can't post and stick out your tongue at the same time. (referring to the avatar ;))
  7. IF dooj dances this year - it will only be with the explicit promise that she will not be photographed doing so... ;)
  8. At least I'm not a cheesecake ;)
  9. Okay WTH, what about the NON-JEWS who witnessed the atrocities and were also killed? I'm not even going to dignify the rest of your statements with a comment...
  10. Not my style, Tom. Thanks all the same, though.
  11. It sounds like a new PC way to say, "There will be a wake..." I wonder if the folks that wrote this are from this country... I would take "be determined" as meaning, "be counted." In other words, RSVP...
  12. I really hate that photo of me dancing with Pipes. She looks great - as do the women in the next photo... I'll be quiet now..I don't want to encourage any more antics.
  13. TOM! I'm was going to be nice and let you pick one of the desserts at the BBQ - Now I'm reconsidering....
  14. Demand? Really? Give me some verses - cuz I just don't see what you're saying...
  15. Which is precisely why you cannot demand of anyone that they forgive another. Thank you, Tom! For that you'll get seconds on dessert! ;)
  16. One would have to question if there is true repentance when the same sin gets repeated 70 X7 times... BUT - I also see no commandment here. This is what I was taught regarding this verse - but I have no proof: Apparently, the custom of the day (perhaps something set up by the Pharisees) was to forgive a person seven times. It could be that Peter was hoping to have this cut down to a smaller number. Instead Jesus expands the number - I'd say the teaching has more to do with grace and mercy than forgiveness - but then again, what do I know...?
  17. I used to be a part of a forum for a specific school activity. It was called "Odyssey of the Mind" and later was called "Destination Imagination." The site was set up for coaches of these teams to be able to support each other.
  18. In the Old Testament (somewhere in Deuteronomy) there is a description of the requirements for a slave being adopted as a bond servant. He CHOOSES to give up what he has and then CHOOSES his master - out of love. THAT is why I always have thought we "repent and renounce" our past and our sins...so that we are CHOOSING to let God be our Master and Jesus be our Lord. And Yes, I know that in reality we are just responding to His first act of love. "For God so loved the world..." Okay, now I may have screwed this thread up...

Too Gray - I once heard it described that you are now LITERALLY thankful for every breath.
  20. Ummmmm - and what about the oven the Jews were put in? What about the "medical experiments"? What about the firing squads? I'm interested in how much spin you can give here? I'll bet you can give Linda Blair a run for her money.
