Well.......here is their declaration letter and signatures that provoked twi's board of directors to shun many of them. Note their grievances.......and let's just see if this group, in the next few years, heeds this standard or falls in the ditch.
-
Thanks Taxidev...... If I remember correctly.......Rico exited twi 2-3 years ago, right? Then, in May 2017.....lots of these R&R corps got labeled m/a. TWO NEW SPLINTERS: Rico and Robin Magnelli.......Oikeos Christian Network R&R Group.......Moynihans, Horneys, Forts, Sheldons, Knupps, etc.
-
.........and so it begins (again). .........in 3 years, there will be a central, office-headquarters. .........just too many egos, too many chiefs. .........I hate to be Debbie-downer, but this thing will keep splintering.
-
Taking a series of classes is...........sequential followship and, possibly, indoctrination. It becomes the process that enables the succession of faithful obedience
-
According to their calendar, lots of activity in Florida...... Will the R&R leadership seek to establish a "central headquarters" in Florida? The salaried positions will try to rally the troops..........to give, to witness, and attend meetings. Decisions, decisions...........and the less committed will start heading for the exits.
-
Oikeos Courses Wonder if/when they are going to delve into the holy spirit field? Wasn't PFAL Sessions 9-12 all about the operation of manifestations? Is this R&R group going to STAND.........or sit?
-
From thread: Revival and Restoration.....page 21
-
Yeah.........right now, this group has "too many corps and not enough followers." Wait till they start delving into salaried positions, travel expenses, company car, room rentals, petty cash reimbursements, financial transparency and long-term investment into a "central headquarters." Just how committed are these folks when it comes to their pocketbook? To grow.......they've got to be committed. To grow.......they've got to have outreach. Who is going to go door-to-door witnessing? Plus, on the horizon.......they will be prompted to discuss, determine and restate their stance on the holy spirit field, namely the nine manifestations. Demonstration of the power of God........ie signs, miracles and wonders. Back in twi's heyday, THAT was what separated "the groovy Christians" from the church Christians. If this R&R group is going to have any longevity, it has to be more than just having butts in seats......and another weekend of listening to a teaching series.
-
** Spiritual System ** .........most likely class-based [foundational, intermediate, advanced], but of course R&R will tweak the designation. Perhaps, they will be color-coded like ski slopes or whatever..... Churches had "retreats." Twi had "advances." Perhaps, R&R will have "wierwille-seances."

The Way, Inc. [1957] was a splinter group. Mrs. Wierwille's book documents that her husband was "thrilled" to sit in Rev. B.G. Leonard's foundational class, The Gifts of the Spirit, in 1953. Months later, wierwille (again), with two carloads of students made the trek to Calgary, Alberta to take this class in June/July of 1953. And then after wierwille's 2nd class sit-thru, he drives home to Van Wert with visions of a class-based teaching ministry dancing in his head. By October, 1953.....wierwille is off and running "his own class." Phasing in a Splinter: Acquire the Mantle of "Teaching the Word".........*weekly sustenance of what you teach needs faithful attendance and adherence. Establish a Hierarchy of Leadership and Spiritual System for others to climb.......*spiritual elites are not accountable to followers. Secure a Central Headquarters.......harnessing the one point of allegiance from which teachings, outreach and service emanate. The R&R group is off to a running start with teaching a vast amount of twi's foundation........but will take strategic steps to tweak the things that twi got wrong!! Sound familiar? It should: that's exactly what wierwille did. They will teach 90% (??) of what wierwille established.......and avoid like the plague issues like wierwille's plagiarism, drunkenness, sexual predation, complicity to spiritual abuse, hoarding of abs, etc. So, they will endeavor to re-create the good ole days in the early 70s with wierwille.......dismissing all the red flags that caused men like Heefner, Doop, Wade, to exit over 40 years ago. Phase #1 is the easy step. Phase #2 is going to be much more challenging. With peers in this party, who is going to rise up and take on the mantle of alpha-male? Without a system of classes, camps, central location, money collection, goals, agenda............where is this railroad going? Teaching is NOT enough to sustain the headwinds of inertia. People WILL fade away......into family life, careers, interests, health issues and death. If there is no overwhelming agreement on hierarchy, lots of these corps will head for the exit doors. And besides, if they don't capture the youth's idealism and zealous support......this new splinter will be little more than your local book club supporters. Phase #3 of Securing a Central Headquarters [BRC/Church].....like CFF, Finnegan's group, Hendricks group, etc......is essential. Maybe Dottie Moynihan will open up her family wealth's checkbook and give a hefty donation.....or one of the others. But....just to be having weekly teachings on Facebook is going to fizzle.......soon. Teachings going out into the ethereal of humanity will NOT alone sustain the human spirit. I highly suspect that MANY of these self-appointed corps have been planning these phases already!!! These guys and gals are not stupid, misguided yes, but not stupid. They will need a location in the next two years, maximum. As this Revival and Restoration group casts off the yoke of bondage from mothercult.......it will be very interesting to see how many want to get their butts back into chairs for leaders' meetings, classes, camps and night owls. LOL. My money is on the Horneys taking the mantle............... .
-
Exactly right, chockfull....... Why doesn't/didn't the R&R "leaders" contact CFF? or Panarello's group? If they want to LEARN HOW TO UNDO CULT INDOCTRINATION..........here at GSC, we've been discussing these things for 18 years !!! Could it be (cough, cough) that Moynihan, Fort, Horney, Sheldon, Longley and others want to start a splinter? bask in adulation? consolidate power? have access to weekly tithes and offerings, travel perks, and free dinner invites wherever they travel to teach? These guys are near retirement and need a lane to run in. They are self-serving. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if they told people to "stay off the internet and stay away from GSC." LOL

Well......Steven Longley has a long road of learning ahead. Charlene's book, Undertow.......could go a long way in showing him that twi's "research department" had been hamstrung by wierwille since the early 1980s. Perhaps, Steven (11th corps grad - 1983) didn't see the revolving door at the research department as so many talented individuals left. IMO........All of wierwille's ballyhoo circled his wagons around 1) research, 2) teaching, and 3) fellowship in a twisted version of wierwilleology, a first cousin of scientology. Research the dots and squibbles in every Pauline verse.......teach it in the context of cult doxology........and gather together in meetings to fellowship around it. Maybe.......it's time to rejoice in "the simplicity that is in Christ." Maybe.......it's time to stop seeking positions of power as "researchers" and "teachers." Maybe.......it's time to unload trucks at Wheeler Mission. Maybe.......it's time to put on an apron and serve food at a homeless shelter. Maybe.......it's time to undo the heavy burdens and set at liberty them that are bruised. Maybe.......it's time to walk As He Is.
-
Thanks Taxidev.......appreciate your forthright answers. Steven Longley........the same who was part of the three amigos who taught twi's newest foundational class? Steven Longley John Rupp David Chavoiste (sp?) If I understand you correctly, you're saying that Steven Longley is now helping to spearhead the R&R teachings? WOW.......if that's the case then this last exodus of corps (and staff?) has cut deeper into the twi-cult than I've heard thus far. The board of directors must be seething over this.... NOW.......if this R&R group would EXPOSE the dirty secrets and gut the twi-cult. Proabably, will never happen. I only see another wierwille-splinter in the making.......(sigh)
-
Okay.......let's go down a checklist: "Incredibly ridiculous admiration for VPW"......(your words). Check Teaching wierwille-doctrine......1) Word takes place of absent Christ [Christ is absent?]; 2) Hierarchy positions to lord over others.....[why can't 'advanced class grads' be the leaders???]; 3) The Law of Believing.....[are they teaching this? still?]; 4) Ultra-dispensationalism.....thus, rendering the 4 gospels "for our learning"; 5) Wierwille was THE man of God......and Our Father in the Word [like CFF gave allegiance/innuendo to for years!!]; 6) Not willing to discuss or admit that wierwille was a plagiarist.....big time!!; 7) Wierwille's "research" is the final authority....cannot challenge it; 8) Sexual predation by wierwille, martindale and others is well-documented; 9) Corps coordinators were in lockstep-loyalty to wierwille and martindale.......and yeah, I'm looking at you Moneyhands, Forts, and Horneys; 10) The corps program was straight-up indoctrination.....and followship, NOT leadership!!! Etc. etc. etc. Check. Centralization of power........authority is wielded by Ex-corps coordinators and corps. Imagine that. Check. No local church involvement........just "teaching the word." Gawd, does it get MORE OBVIOUS?? Check. No repentance to God......for hurting others and leading thousands astray. Nope. The past is past. Check. No accountability.........anybody can teach the damn propaganda. I'd rather SEE the sermon..... Check. No reaching out to CFF, or CES, or other splinters......WHY do they want to start their OWN group? $$$ and adulation. Check. Of course, other corps have followed them out the door.......but have they come clean? Or joined another cult? Check. Cult institutionalized.......hanging with those who jumped ship when you did? Is THAT the standard? Check. Stage #1.......Do NOT ask for money. Build the following FIRST. Every splinter does this. Check. Some people just don't understand or value the true meaning of **freedom in Christ.** .

TLC.........I distinctly remember vpw saying that "love in his little pinky finger" thing in reference to Wayne Cl-app, not DWBH. Once again, you seem to want to disparage a GSC-poster who has been exposing the seedy underbelly of wierwille/twi. Why don't you make a podcast and tell us "why YOU stayed with twi so long" and why you, still to this day, come to the defense of wierwille? I would be interested to see if you can explain your *conversion*......or, if indeed, you still hold wierwille on a pedestal. Just do it.
-
According to twi's incorporation papers, constitution and by-laws (1959).......wierwille originally stipulated "that the Board of Directors is a fellowship of all head presbyters of each limb and branch plus such elected directors as the Board of Trustees and International Headquarters deem necessary." I seriously doubt that a vote was counted to "elect" directors at headquarters. "Elected" should be termed "selected" Originally, in other words........the Board of Directors included (cough, cough) limb coordinators and branch coordinators, that gave representation, in making decisions and policies for The Way, Inc. Perhaps, it was only there to bait the hook............but nonetheless, it shows how wierwille's inclusiveness CHANGED to exclusively give all the decision-making power to the Trustees, and namely Wierwille. To me, it highlights (again).......how upstart groups evolve and consolidate power. Wierwille did it...............and so do the splinter groups !!! ~~~~~~~~~ Twi Began Its Independent Undertaking -- December 19, 1957

So far, I have heard nothing that hasn't been done by EVERY SPLINTER...... "Essentially, they just teach"...................regurgitated teachings? "Others from the way corps left"............birds of a feather, flock together. Just to step back and survey the landscape on this........lots of these corps are near retirement or retired. Three couples were corps coordinators who have help "train" way corps while in-residence and gave their loyalty/adulation to wierwille, martindale and rivenbark. Some have been itching for over 20 years to shake off that *debt-policy* in twi and .... possibly buy a house (mortgage) and/or build some equity before it's too late. And, rivenbark puts lapboy delisle as president as she slides into the vice prez slot to signal to all that she ain't going anywhere soon. Duh. Is it any wonder why others are jumping ship? So what if 120 corps want to "team up" for a little while before they figure things out. We've seen this MANY times before. Until they denounce wierwille doctrine and come clean......they're just another splinter Makes no difference if they took the marbles and crossed the street.....if it's the SAME marbles Anyone paying attention noticed that **way corps convened a meeting**......to keep power over the others Same caste system.........hell, I won't be surprised when they begin teaching their own "foundational class" ......wake me up when they get back to "members in particular and the One Body of Christ"
-
As I remember it........when the start-up splinter, CFF, was in its infant stage, they held nearly the same position. In fact, they would send you their Sunday teaching tape free of charge....every week.....all you had to do was request it. When Panarello broke away from twi in 2004......he, too, did the SAME THING. This is NOT new. If you are happy with your local "R/R" fellowship.......great. Enjoy it. Me? I vividly saw what was behind the curtain of the wierwille-industrial-deception-complex. The deception?.........power over you Slowly, ever-so-subtle......they don't want to frighten you away.... It ain't about the money (yet).......it's about *building a following*...... Some of these guys were trafficking girls to motor coaches and Cabin 12.... Ever study ALL the many times, ways and reasons the scriptures tell us to BEWARE?
-
Wierwille's cult headquarters made sure to squeeze every penny...... When I worked on hq-staff.......they made us sign a waiver form on SS payments. Here Now, they hoard millions !!!
-
Yep.......twi is corrupt through and through because it was set up that way. Wierwille set in motion a system of deception and unaccountability......even his "trustees" couldn't be trusted with oversight. For ten years (1957-1967), wierwille *thought* he alone could teach and inspire a following as he taught class after class. His unconventional style and confrontational tone drove many back to their church pews instead. And, wierwille threw caution to the wind when he gambled on filming the '67 foundational class and stared into the glaring lights trying to finish his segments before his money ran out and the studio fees / furniture rentals became due. The youth movement brought the surge of energy and zeal. Wierwille needed young leaders to advance his agenda.....and Heefner, Doop, Wade and others didn't take a liking to what wierwille offered. They would soon find the exit doors, having seen the man behind the mask. Nevertheless, there were the Moneyhands, Lynns, Winegarn-rs, Standag-es, and others who would fall in line and help lead the systematizing of error for others to follow. To this day, some are STILL staunch "believers of the wierwille-cult" who still have no clue that they were beguiled. Everything wierwille set in place was sleight-of-hand........as he utilized buzzwords that had double meanings. Note: wierwille never set about to have disciples of Christ. "The Way" was not about Jesus Christ.....it was about wierwille's self-appointment. Double meanings. Double standards. Double-crossed. "Word Over the World Ambassadors"......who's "word?" Vpw's "word." Way Corps..........disciples of wierwille and a corps trained to obey him. Followers of The Way..............indeed, indeed. Cult followers. Today.......there is NO research department. Not needed. Today.......there is NO true teaching. Just regurgitation. Today.......there is NO joyful fellowship. Only obedience. Last year, there was another exodus of corps leadership........but the crazy part is that they will NOT denounce wierwille. This R/R group has been outspoken of Rosalie Rivenbark, but they cannot admit to martindale's depravity and their misguided loyalty to him. NOPE....because that would then be called into question as to why they stayed the course. So, they have no interest in discussing the Martindale era.......let alone the Wierwille pyramid and the "slave-foundation." This R/R group wants to ride on wierwille's coattails of "teaching the word" and having the little people tithe and abundantly share of their hard-earned money. Same deal, different pew. After some 18 years of GSC telling "the other side of twi's leaders, organization and agenda"........this last group of corps, who jumped to start their own splinter group, is the most loathsome and disgusting of the bunch. There is already a charade parade of panderers to the wierhead-cult of complicity.

Oh, chockfull........what you said brings back those memories. In July 1981......(yeah, a long time ago)......going on staff from in-residence corps, my bi-monthly paycheck from twi was $235.00. So, each month I received like $470........for like 200+ hours of work (50 hrs each wk) Trailer #6 housed 12 singles......6 males in one bedroom & one bathroom/ 6 females on other side. No common area / no sitting room / no TV .......just a bedroom with 3 bunk beds and one bathroom on each side. Cafeteria-style meals were available in the OSC......and you made sure to eat there (no time/money to drive into NK) Married couples and families were assigned to "family units on grounds".....and those with seniority or $$ lived in nearby communities. During summer months (esp. near roa time)......staff were assigned evening work detail (6:30-8:30pm).....especially us young men. At supper, they would announce that they NEEDED such-and-such done.....and often, called out names for assignment. In some respects, it didn't matter much......what else were we doing? When you live a life of servitude.......it has little significance unless you're working. With heavy-handedness....."your life was NOT your own" and therefore, you obeyed. When young (23) and strong.......the long work days didn't matter much and drove away the boredom. When 33 or more...........one is more apt to question, consider career, life fulfillment, family, long-range goals, etc. If a person stays on staff passed 50.....40 years old, then their resume looks like sh!t to those in the real world. That is one of the reasons why Panar*llos, Moneyhands and others start splinter groups. They have nothing else. .

.........."As the money began pouring in, Harry and Vic figured they better invest it. Best investment?? Best Investment?? Double-down on manipulation, indoctrination and exploitation of youth. MORE DECEPTION...................establish "training centers" in other states. The backstory of the purchase of the Indiana Campus [Rome City], as was told to me by David DeW*ld [8th corps], was that he and his sister, Karen [7th corps] told wierwille of this property for sale. In other words, it came up for sale.....wierwille heard of it......and then, voila, the *family corps location* had a training center. No designed plans or vision by wierwille......it just was "plopped" in his lap to consider purchasing it. MORE INDOCTRINATION.........the youth were the engine of all the energy and outreach. Indoctrinate more youth [corps] = running more classes. USE TWI-LEADERSHIP TO TEACHING "CURRICULUM" at *The Way College of Biblical Research, Emporia Kansas.......Lame, side-step of authenticated certification TRY TO REPLICATE "SEMINARY TRAINING" and CERTIFICATION.........bring Dean Don on board at Emporia [enticing him to pursue his doctorate degree in education and become the *Dean* of his Dad's cult-college in emporia. LOL THE WAY COLLEGE in Emporia, Kansas never received state recognition to hand out associate degrees in theology from this campus. What a blundering quest of foolery !!!

For those who have never been on staff at twi's headquarters....... The "corporate headquarters" is compartmentalized thru departments and areas of inter-connected work relations, not a way-tree structure. It's a cult compound where a majority of workers serve in menial tasks.......housekeeping, grounds, food service, finance, multi-services, etc. With wierwille and martindale eras, there was an inner-circle of yes-men, favorites, body guards, security, and sexual predation. With rivenbark, some have reported on her *special relationship* with donna.....and two other women who once lived in her basement. Employment on staff is touted as "serving the Lord at the spiritual epicenter of twi"........no witnessing, no running classes. And now, the Sunday "teachers" read their bland sermons with no deviation from script each week. I would venture to say that......NOW.....[after 30-years since the mass exodus].......any corps grad who had been on field assignment for years THEN goes on staff is challenged by the double-standard hypocrisy that wreaks. Anyone who has been paying attention should have seen this years ago......BUT.......going on staff at headquarters makes it painstakingly obvious!! Not only does the pecking order, smugness and sheer boredom smack you in the face.......BUT.......those cascading questions of: Don't these directors see that this place is little more than an echo chamber of elitism? What have I done?........selling all my furniture and moving to rural Ohio for this? What is my future going to be if I stay on staff? Is there any upward mobility in this? What about my spouse? my kids? my retirement? my life and fulfillment? Shouldn't I be making strides on my career? home ownership? equity & retirement? How can this possibly be God's will?.......living in a secluded cult compound for what? If I don't look after myself, who will? Do they really have any genuine interest in me? [Nope.] If this ministry is corrupt at the root, then it must be diseased everywhere? [Yep.] There is NOTHING like getting smacked upside the head when you know that you've seen red flags for years, and years. Going to headquarters and working on staff.......has jolted many from their slumber. Happy Trails To You..........and plan to never pass that way again. .

Severing Family/Church Ties and ....The Destruction of Self
skyrider replied to skyrider's topic in About The Way
Cult leaders NEVER want to relinquish their power over others. Wierwille retired shortly before an eye removal and liver cancer.....but still lashed out at trustees for being "shelved." Martindale found himself battling twi's lawyers to stay in office.....and tried to be, at least, the Research Department Coordinator. [Ousted] Rosalie F. Shumate assigned lapboy as president......and then, she STAYED as the vice president and Chairman of the Board. Next March 2019.......Rosalie will be 80 years old. Twi no longer runs the advanced class each year, because there are NOT enough students to warrant it. Another 150-180 corps grads have exited their ranks in the last ten years.... much of it because of the debt-policies and double-standard hypocrisy. The corps in-residence program is abysmal. The Sunday teachings are a snoozefest. Some of those staffers took pfal some 40 years ago.......and look where they are today? LOL So, how well did those green card BENEFITS work out? -
Ephesians 4:14 and Wierwille's psychological deception
skyrider replied to Rocky's topic in About The Way
Rocky.......I agree. There is plenty in wierwille's history and manner of life that obliterates twi's manufactured mystique of the man. That's why I asked for more clarification on the molesting allegation. Besides having this "short growth" problem.........years later, was vp molested, mocked, or bullied for being weak, sickly, different?
