  1. What a difference a FEW SHORT YEARS MAKE. In 1980/81.....when wierwille soared his rhetoric of Camp Gunnison and all those "visions" of sunset corps who would each build their own cabin AND a big restaurant on the hill by the water tower AND daily activities enjoyed by all that corps/staffers would be there to provide and oversee........ THUD was the result. By 1984, wierwille was complaining that the trustees were putting him out to pasture and not listening to his advice any more. Wierwille was battling health issues and, supposedly, the only one who really cared to listen was cgeer. Not one person built a "personal retirement cabin" at Camp Gunnison.....with twi's agreement that, upon death, the cabin would then belong to twi. Not one person ventured into this SCAM. THE GAME OF WIERWILLE INDOCTRINATION WAS OVER.....at least, for this generation. The corps were essentially leaving their nametags at the door....and moving onward. Reality had set in. Job opportunities, education advancement, careers, kids, school, churches, community and club memberships.......the wierwillian utopia that never was, dissipated in the dawning of a new day.

  6. Yeah....ya gotta love that "consequences ballbat" thing they got going. Decisions, decisions.....Should I continue following an abusive cult and carry that ballbat message to weeds, and twigs, and branches.....or should I ABSTAIN from all appearance of evil like the scriptures say? Ummm....maybe even more simply, should I obey God or man? Boy, that's a tough call.

Hyperbole warning --- still beeping... 1) Doesn't twi proclaim NO SPIRITUAL LIFE (ie...greasespots by midnight).....after twi? 2) Doesn't twi proclaim NO SPIRITUAL LIBERTY (ie...possessed cop-outs).......after twi? 3) Doesn't twi proclaim NO PURSUIT OF GENUINE, SPIRITUAL HAPPINESS...........after twi? Rulers of bondage use language of oppression and servitude. Rulers of liberty use language of deliverance and freedom.

Hyperbole Warning ........ beep, beep, beep 1) Who crowned wierwille and made him king? 2) People fleeing his tyranny seeking 'religious freedom'... 3) Ruling class always attacking peasants with taxes (tithes) 4) Taxation without Representation --- where's the money going?? 5) Lifetime of servitude while trustees parade the streets 6) God-given rights......not pfal-given rights 7) Must declare freedom BY SEPARATION 8) Etc. etc. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Are all men and women 'created equal'........IN TWI? And further......'are they endowed by THEIR CREATOR?' .
  9. For those who might not know.....I should add that the log structure of the corps chalet was built by Grand Log Homes in Colorado (iirc). The main pole beam logs and shell were assembled by this construction crew....independent from way builders and/or local contract labor. Lots of the interior work and chinking was done by way builders and corps labor. Their perspective.......not mine.
  10. OldSkool......I don't know. By the time most of us crossed his path......wierwille had been building narcissistic monuments to himself for 20 years! Or more? And, by 1960....he and others planted the 7 maple tree circle with the family cemetary in mind. The wierwille legacy was first, foremost and always the center of his world.
  11. The Age of 'Wierwillian Utopia' was very short-lived......even twi recognized it. During this period, specifically 1978-1982.....wierwille envisioned corps and clergy standing faithful to his ministry into the sunset years of life. The messaging was clear: twi was making accommodations for later years. For example.... 1) The Corps Chalet was built for visiting corps grads.....to spend time with Dr. and Mrs. Wierwille 2) Camp Gunnison was available for sunset corps & faithful followers to build a personalized retirement cabin 3) Ordained clergy were given a desk-top emblematic oakbasin....it would be displayed at twi after clergy death 4) University of Life would give others access to wierwille's depth of research for generations to come Lofty visions and lofty goals that never came to fruition. In wierwille's world, he envisioned that corps would ALWAYS want to come and 'sit at the master's feet.' And, why shouldn't he? The corps marched in lockstep to his commands and, only in isolated instances, seldom rebelled. The adulation was overwhelming as "his corps came home each year" to accommodate the corps week/roa workload....but there's a vast difference between subjective subordination and inner-passionate loyalty. The corps chalet project was a rising star.....that lasted all of a few years. <_<

    Cheapness

    The Corps Chalet was built on the concept of visiting corps graduates, while at hdqts, to spend quality time with Dr. and Mrs. Wierwille in later years. The structure of the chalet had a wrap-around balcony to accommodate 40-60 people in a casual, comfortable setting and the 4 'corps-tels' were for overnight guests. Each of the 4 corps-tels had a different, interior wood...ie mahogany, red oak, etc. A loft in the chalet was available for extra sleep-over corps far less privacy than the corps-tels. The kitchen was designed to serve groups of people with greater ease and function. On corps nights, this project and its purpose was disclosed to the corps..... and they anticipated, and worked, towards its completion. For about three months, Dr. and Mrs. Wierwille lived in the Corps Chalet. The master bedroom was on the second floor with other rooms and amenities. The first floor had another bedroom for live-in assistance. At the time, a 7th corps couple were assigned as 'valets' to help the wierwilles. And, of course.....large stone fireplaces and a very nice office tucked on the northside with bay-window view of the way woods. Additions were made years later.....so others would have to speak of those. I believe the last time I was in the corps chalet was 1984. After three months (1981)......wierwille was ready to move back to his home. Some reasons were given on a corps night, but suffice it to say......the 'vision of the corps chalet' was quickly swept aside and martindale was president-elect at the time. In one swift motion, wierwille designated that the martindales would move into the corps chalet as he was the Corps Director, and all. Just like that....the 'corps chalet was gone' and became the private home of the martindales. With each passing year, few corps were ever invited to the corps chalet. It simply became off-limits and twi's security patrols kept people from trespassing. Yes.....trespassing. The corps chalet was added to the list of broken promises, broken dreams. <_<

  14. Exactly!......my ANGER in being deceived by wierwille brings out that fire. The indoctrination of that corps program was an intense fight for a lifetime of twi servitude. Even to this day....offshoot leaders and ex-twi clergy spout the great 'training.' And, now.....WW brings these words back to mind. Thanks man. Woe unto me......that I fight this christian battle of doubt.
  15. Yes, it definitely was a deep snare......that many of us fell into. Perhaps, I'll never fully know 'why?' But then, christians are duped time and time again. WW......the Genesis 50:20 record has been of interest to me for years. Maybe, 'God meant it good for me to be in twi'......I've helped about 90 people exit. Plus, I'm not sure that I could have ever found a better wife anywhere. Also, now I see huge chunks of scripture with remarkable clarity.
  16. geisha.....I understand the depth of what you are saying in this post..... ....BUT with regards to "what we considered 'Freedom' in TWI"......that "we" is a broad stroke I was born again BEFORE TWI......and believed in the simplicity in Christ, as savior and lord ......refused to have sexual intercourse before marriage even though it was amply available ......refused lustful temptations while two yrs of wow ambassador with 'wow sisters in panties' ......never did drugs, never cared to ......nor did I see the need to bash churches, jews, etc. Could it be possible that there were HUNDREDS like me in twi? or in the corps? Wierwille was slime..... ....perhaps, I should have left in 1978 when I saw it clearly. ....perhaps, I should have never gone corps. ....my wife was corps too. YET......today, my wife and I have two outstanding and successful young sons. Maybe,...some of us went thru the twi experience TO HELP OTHERS GET OUT ?? Accounts in scripture like Joseph imprisoned for 7 yrs....makes me wonder. Look at THAT outcome! Perhaps, our 'trial by fire' was the twi experience and coming out the other side?

  19. The infinite number of ways to describe TWI parallels the countless times in which Jesus, and others, depicted the Phariseeism of his day. Life's struggles were on daily display and the ruling class were lords on earth. The contrast counterpoint is noted of those who lorded over God's heritage. From social elites who love to walk about in the marketplaces to be seen of men....to the late night bribery of 30 pieces of silver to Judas......the scriptures depict the religious hierarchy. Wierwille was a CLASSIC EXAMPLE of......"Do as I say NOT as I do." He stayed on church payroll for 4 yrs while building his twi-venture ---- TRY DOING WHAT HE DID. Vpw left his Van Wert church to search more truth in other places ------- WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DO THAT? Wierwille had loads and loads of questions that went unanswered --------- I HAD ALL KINDS OF UNANSWERED QUESTIONS TOO. vpw did NOT like to be marginalized with insubordination rank ----------- YET, TWI DEMANDS TOTAL INSUBORDINATION When did wierwille EVER give volunteer servitude without pay? ----------- HE WANTED TO BE LORD OF THE MANOR The caste system in twi had the hallmarks of bondage inscribed ---------- THUS, CLASSES & NAMETAGS & PROGRAMS IMO.....true christianity is the foundation of true liberty and individual sovereignty. In twi, wierwille set in motion the class system of old europe.....pouring "new wine" in old wineskins. Deceptively, wierwille really was bringing a message to his generation.......BUT IT WAS THE DARK SERFDOM MODEL OF OLD. I have to stand aghast of his bold declarations of the early '80s when he stated, "The great things in life are not in ownership, but rather in the stewardship of them." In other words, when twi OWNS stuff its a wonderful thing.....so, at times, you are blessed to enjoy them while stewarding their upkeep and beauty and maintenance. Like the Way Woods, for example....you get to enjoy the beauty of nature and all WITHOUT OWNERSHIP OF IT. I'm dead serious.....wierwille made statements like this during nightowls! Rewind the world back 8 or 9 centuries to explore the "beauty" of stewarding the lord's mines, forests, roads and property. Serfdom - Click Here Serfdom included the labor of serfs occupying a plot of land owned by a lord of the manor in return for protection and justice and the right to exploit certain fields within the manor to maintain their own subsistence. Serfdom involved not only work in the lord's fields, but his mines, forests and roads. The manor formed the basic unit of society and the Lord of the Manor and his serfs were bound legally, economically, and socially. Serfs were laborers who were bound to the land; they formed the lowest social class of the feudal society. Serfs were also defined as people in whose labor landowners held property rights. .
  20. Why the way corps program? Simple. PFAL was going to die a slow hemorraging death....without the marching orders of a fiercely loyal and disciplined chain of command, all the way back to wierwille himself. The corps program had NOTHING to do with training leadership; the program had all the underpinnings of building a core of class instructors. Without this core nucleus of indoctrinated instructors, pfal would die on the vine. Like wierwille's Diamond Club where he rallied 75 people to faithfully tithe to 'The Way' in the earlier years, so the corps program would be committed instructors of pfal.....nothing more. Sure, the corps carried the banner of 'spiritual leadership'.....but wierwille reined them in time and time again. And really, all that corps insignia of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers.....was sugar-coating. How many corps grads were there that were designated as such? Even 'evangelizing' was code word for running pfal classes. The manipulation continues to this day....and how many STILL don't see it? Yes, even one's vanity can be used against him as a snare. <_<
  21. OldSkool.....I don't think I've ever heard about the "facing north thing".....but always thought the main entrance, with circle drive, should have faced west. Just seems like as cars and people approached it, the major entrance should face westward. And, besides....then the smokers could stand out on the steps in the sunshine (or is there a non-smoking ban in effect now?). Some poster a couple of years ago mentioned the leaking windows and the cleaning maintenance. From what I remember, he thought the angular windows and all were poorly designed.

  24. Two things..... 1) Yeah, the OSC building was a shell in 1978 and roa storage was piling up on the northside. The building was sectioned off with half as a warehouse with overhead doors at both ends and a shipping/receiving dock on southwest corner. Other than that.....the trustees had no plans for offices or departments or food services. 2) The auditorium had decent construction.......BUT the architects totally messed up on bathroom facilities. They didn't take into account that twi would need EXTRA bathroom accommodations because of its usage. When the adv class runs there.....and 15-minute breaks are given.....EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO PEE and hurry back to class. Major, major oversight for the spiritual heavies.. sarc/
