  1. the grapes of wrath need a pruning ... post twi, I don't trust leaders or ladders ... I did have a cheap way ladder fold on me at gunnysack, but i only fell 10 feet ... great weekend ... finally rented a house ... closed a farm ... good news from an outfitter for deerhunting ... and 60's tomorrow .... corps party at my place next year ... in the non way woods .... a lead like experience ... I'll make a list of camping stuff you need to bring ... you can all hitch up , but if you are late you have to hitch home ...
  2. You are one funny girl lol ... it was so exciting when we had a video class ... wa hooooo Man, punish us with audio and worn out flip charts if we don't get 12 for the class. What was it for a film class? 20? We had one at good ole U of I once ... weeeee hawwwww, were we ever hot sheeet Sure glad I didn't spend my time getting a real education and a real career ... "I'm a doulos baby ... why don't you kill me" ... I think that's a song ... Well, time to clean the tall windows on the south side of Wierwille... hope this cheap lightweight ladder doesn't fold under me, cuz I got no safety line but Jesus ...
  3. can I get a clarification? "remember" was easy enough .... but "titans" from snake woman and some 7th grade sculpture project is harder ... ok, it could be some monster from a japanese film ...
  4. LOL Yeah, I kinda jumped in the middle there ... I'm really just envious that I can't come up with those cool terms :)
  5. Hey Mark... I guess the label can be helpful, but I see it as better to not label that person, but a certain aspect of their beliefs as arian like. I don't see someone that doesn't believe the Trinity is biblical as an Arian. ("Trinitarian" would be more accurate as a label because Trinitarians accept that label themselves.) In my old way days when I was called an arian, it was in a demeaning way. Like "oh, I see you went the way of arius". Of course at the time I thought arius had gotten back to original Christian doctrine that may have been messed up by some trinitarians. In other words, it isn't arian doctrine, but Christian doctrine. Who the heck was arius, but someone the trinitarians didn't like thinking for himself? Anyway ... that's just my take on it ... I think your usage is as you stated :) And I don't really believe any of it ... but I like Christians ...
  6. I really shouldn't have directed that comment just at cynic ... but it seems labeling someone an arian, or socinian or whatever ... is demeaning. It is saying you have looked at part of what they believe, and linked it to someone else who believed something you see as similar, and so you pigeonhole them as a member of that sect. Understanding the history that led to different beliefs can be helpful, but since there are infinite nuances to each line of reasoning, it is impossible to accurately compartmentalize people into these groups. The trinity doctrine makes little sense to me ... even in my lutheran days it didn't make sense. But for me to try to label where they "went wrong" by putting a sect name on them would just be name calling. Whatever (ridiculous ) belief they may hold, I have to acknowledge they may have some take on life that I don't know about that led them to their belief. They may even believe that their church somehow has jurisdiction over my church ... but they can hold that absurd belief if they want Or I could just label them a socinian or an arian ... discounting the possibility that they think for themselves. Then too, some good people may accept some wrong doctrine because they don't really care about doctrine, but just enjoy the people at their church and how it functions ... maybe that is OK too, or maybe it is a better Way.
  7. LOL I'm just thinkin' ... if God expected man to be able to define those things (and spell them correctly) before knowing him or jc, wouldn't most be lost? So if you call someone a socinian, I guess you are saying they follow some guy they never heard of, and no one before the 16th century denied the divinity of Christ? What is LSG? And with all those big words ... "doubt there is a significant number ... that has an informed view ..." should that be "have"? Can a number have a singular view? I'm just saying, if you messed up your tenses, you may be going to hell with those guys that can't spell monophysite. Anyway, I like the idea of knowing all that junk ... not sure it helps much in understanding the bible ... or life ... but big words can help impress the babes
  8. In Dallas, only the northern bred could drive on ice. Is OK like that too? :o After record warm January, we finally got some sub zero temps ... Collecting a little more firewood here ... but the worries are relatively few Well life on the farm is kinda laid back Aint much an old country boy like me can't hack ... LOL ... actually I'm more of a hack at being a country boy ... but I'm a learnin'
  9. I think there is a $40 minimum level of donation for that option to be activated
  10. Mike said ... Although I don’t fit the definition of a troll (validated by the highest authority) Wolf [Definitions vary. You do not fit the definition used by staff at the GSC. The "highest authority" would be a government agency, or God Almighty.] I caught the tail end of this, trying to catch wolf's comments ... and I brought up the troll thing first ... so I checked wikipedia ... Attention-seeking trolls This class of trolls seeks to obtain as many responses as possible and to absorb a disproportionate amount of the collective attention span. What struck me was Mike's "bragging" about the record length of his earlier thread. He revels in garnering responses. Wikipedia further states this about some internet trolls ... Intentionally posting an outrageous argument, deliberately constructed around a fundamental but obfuscated flaw or error. Often the poster will become defensive when the argument is refuted, but may instead continue the thread through the use of further flawed arguments; this is referred to as "feeding" the troll. A subclass of the above is the flawed proof of an important unsolved mathematical problem or impossibility (e.g. 1 = 2); however, these may not always be troll-posts, and are sometimes, at least, mathematically interesting. I see the Mike thread as "mathematically interesting" for a few posts. You can learn something "unproving" 1=2. But the idea that the written piffle is god breathed is just too silly to spend time on. Does Mike really believe that or does he use it as a hook to reel people in? I guess it doesn't matter, the attention seeking motivation is the point.
  11. cooooool ... nice common 'tater voice paw , except it sounds too much like those PBS guys for me , so kinda makes me gag a little ;) great idea though ... i'd have to check my settings to see if I could d/l lower quality for my rural dialup ... but didn't take that long ... hearing the voices really makes the net experience more real ... two thumbs up ... lcm said stay off the internet? ... lol, first I heard that ... the last audio just kicked in ... I miss my MTV cable modem
  12. Well, it's not really murder ... those chickens were guilty as hell, you could tell just looking in their beedy little eyes  I heard about the chicken butcherings ... was it with the funnels for the heads and the gutter for the blood? chop chop CHOP LOL ... Seemed pretty efficient to me. But I agree, the best part is contacting old friends ... just a note is nice ... from the good ones anyway ... no bad guys have contacted me ... I'd have to admit I like to hear about the details of the bad stuff sometimes too... confirming that the injustices I knew about were widespread and systemic ...
  13. I got it only with dooj's help on the first pic, I was thinking sleep ... but I had to use "yahoo movies" after that. Just kidding about the sluggard thing George ... that was insensitive ;) I should have said slackard ... But I guess it is nice you have a life outside of GS.
  14. Well, the thread is dominated by Mike responses, making it hard to have any discussion outside Mike's comments. As with any troll, feeding them just makes them louder. If Mike had a 100 page thread before, I guess he is going for a new record. Or maybe he's a shrink hired by Paw to help ex-wayfers finally release any inner anxieties from the past ... bringing them to their "Primal Scream" In any case, I think many people enjoyed the side of twi that made THEM feel a little superior to those other Christians. Maybe we need to see if there's a doctor in the house, we have a sick man here. LOL Just kidding Mike ... mostly. But the volume of responses alone seems just a tad obsessive. So understanding piffle may include understanding Mike types ... the true believers ... Was it at PFAL in Muncie, Indiana that vp commented about the original class, that he felt it was almost all revelation? He was talking about the filming. What amazes/scares me is how well I remember some of this stuff without really thinking of it for some 20 years. I think the contradictions stand out to me 'cuz I cringed when I heard them while running a class, then had to try to explain them away when people asked about them.
  15. the class was almost all revelation ... they cleaned up the revelation? he spent a lot of time on that, it wasn't a slip of the tongue
  16. The first thing vp does is to add a word ... vp says, he didn't just say an abundant life, he says "more than abundant" well, no, he says "more abundant"... so if it was minus 10 abundant, then minus 9 abundant would be more abundant ... lesson one is .. vp's class is not about logic, just accept and submit .. if it is wrong, he will tell you...
  17. Carrion make up your own piffle analogy
  18. Well, I agree, but i have to read bible to refute that? be more specific please ! I'd go with a non biblical response ... my first breath was good ... I didn't know it was available ... I'm feeling argumentative :)
  19. gloves should be optional ... this sounds like a butch and sundance kid kinda fight ... first rule ... no rules ... LOL But OK, you gotta stay in the ring ... Let's see, how can I pick a fight? "as I was moving ahead with the things of Gawd, as I thought they were the things of Gawd ..." see, he is already admitting he was a screw up! what really were those things? his sexetary? Is this what you had in mind modaustin? Piffle is all about vpw covering for his weaknesses ... OK, that might be a decent kick off
  20. I knew that horticulture degree would pay off eventually, but I didn't think of endive till after I saw the answer LOL actually, all I could think of was tulip let us ... or bud let us ... b utt let us now for the word study part of our program ... I guess the end of the leaf dives inward? wake up George, thou sluggard
  21. OK, thanks ... I'm sure I'd say a lot of inaccurate things regarding that church history. I was thinking of other splinters ... like I am of Paul, I am of Apollos ... but maybe that happened within your universal church under the auspices of your holy father. I was just sorta surprised you had jumped to that, but I haven't read much of what you have probably written here before. Party on!
  22. Did Christ make that statement? Sounds latin! If it was a pope, then how can you claim he was speaking for Christ and the whole church? And who splintered from whom? You capitalize the Church ... and say IT teaches ... it seems you are equating Church with the Roman Catholic religion? ... Maybe I got lost somewhere in your discourse :)
  23. I'm not sure either ... but that is it :) Me thinks George likes to play his own game of finding the alternative movie possibilities
