  1. Sorry NIKA I'm nursing my little seedlings along ... they were inside, but I had them covered to keep them warm and forgot about them with all the snow ... some will survive ... Snow is almost gone ... lotsa birds coming back now ... singing everywhere (except in Austin ...)
  2. what surprised me was the thing about a gun to keep DEW out ... it is hard to picutre them using physical restraint, but what, were they going to shoot him? That would have been interesting. The founder's son tried to get in the meeting, so we killed him.
  3. Commie and Doe ha I bet tom has actually answered about 20 times here, but has yet to put up a movie ... come on tom ... pony up btw, you still owe us one for when you correctly guessed "Rats"
  4. Well, it's sorta part of the "remoter" topic cuz it shows life is GREAT outside twi :) Always worth pointing out Plus you got that gun incident in there, giving a second usage ...
  5. Hey Al, I don't know if we met. I stayed with your bro, fr-n and Nancy H one year for ROA ... I didn't know they were still in. You reminded me of him a little from your tone in the previous message. It seemed to me you were chastising folks for not being more positive about their Corps experience. So my point was "sure we learned some stuff, but many good people sacrificed to do the Christian service thing, and were sold out by leaders." Those that helped build twi had their efforts stolen from them by corrupt leaders. If you worked ten years for an engineering firm, then found out your pension fund had been stolen you'd be "bitter". If you contracted a job and at the end of the project got shorted, only covering your expenses, you'd be angry. People gave up many things to help build twi, and got short changed. Of course we have no one to blame but ourselves, and you can talk about the positives that happened if our heart was pure .. blah blah LOL. So my point is that the Way Corps was a bad thing to do. If you built a bridge and didn't get paid, it was a bad thing. Talk all you want about what you learned. Now to say as long as you did it with a pure heart ... well, certainly one way to look at it. But most Corps could have done many other things with a pure heart for those ten years. It was our fault for being young, stupid, idealistic, vulnerable ... but we were still taken advantage of. edited to point out it was actually our parents' fault that we were young then :) I had a good time after twi .. coulda gone for more school (did a little actually). I went probably a decade with twi scarcely crossing my mind (till I found this site) so I'm not wallowing in the past. I spose I can see you saying "look at the bright side", but the bright sides were in spite of the corps, not because of it. From a counselling point of view, I think people have to get over that denial and see that there were not just some problems, but the whole thing was a problem. It's like trying to paint a positive image of Hitler ... some fine German youth was wasted there ... let's recognize it for what it was. (that may be a little over the top, but that is the angle I was taking in response to your "be more positive chastisement" And I was sincere that it sounds like your father was a strong positive influence ... and that you were luckier than many in that.)
  6. way to go George ... that is correct

    Forum Question

NORMAL? who you callin normal? LOL Anyway .. I just go by the latest posts ... I almost never look at the main page So being an active topic is the main thing. I usually don't even know what forum I'm in. and Belle, where is the popcorn and MnM's ?
  9. I had to look up "false dilemma", but it seems at best we might get that at least vp was better than the pope (and the other twi underlings). "Either vp was the worst of that bunch or he was a MOG", that would be the false dilemma, since not being the worst doesn't mean anything about what he was. ( Actually, asking who was the worst seems to imply they were all bad. Who was the worst home run hitter Sosa McGwire or Bonds? doesn't quite fit ... you ask who was the best) My guess would be ck wants to see if ex twi have fallen so far as to think even someone as evil as the pope is better than vp (or the others). 'Cuz surely only a crazy person could think that.

    Best Blond Joke

Well OK, it's the old "see other side" thing revisited ... hopefully there is no evil code being installed from that link ... see tom, i told you it wasn't funny ... don't click .. your computer might explode
  13. pimp Pronunciation (pmp) n. One who finds customers for a prostitute; a procurer. intr.v. pimped, pimpĀ·ing, pimps To serve as a procurer of prostitutes. I think pimp is the wrong word there. The girls were not prostitutes. He was worse than a pimp. What means or drugs he used to procure these women ... I don't know. And unless CG was in fear for his life ... carrying a gun up there is incredibly crazy, for lack of a better word. The local police should have hauled him away. (not sure on the law actually, could it be shown it was for intimidation?) On why the trustees even allowed him a platform ... I'm guessing this deal of him going away to Europe with some booty must have been arranged in advance. Or maybe he lied about what he was going to say. Still, why did they follow thru on his orders for everyone to "relisten" to his message while he went home? Maybe he was holding some other information over them as blackmail ... who knows?
  14. Nika, I bet you remember that early morning and the back slapping ... LOL His picture there looks almost exactly like I remember him. "there were short boxes ... tall boxes ... and GREAT BIG BOXES" From the little direct interaction I vaguely remember, he strikes me as a kinda rigid but nice guy, that tried too hard to fit into the way leader role. But it looks like he's still trying to lead for profit. Well, he had at least a few positive testimonials, maybe that way training done him some good. Man, we had 10 degrees Monday morning, with about 6 inches of snow the day before. Made me forget about my tomato seedlings.
  15. house lous or costello (does the exploding lou cancel the lou part of costello?) man ten ays I thought Who Slew was good, but only found "Who Slew Auntie Roo" (catchie title) Who Slew the Manatees? how sluice mountains whose loose antennas "Throw me a friggin bone here" LOL
  16. WOW, I just log in to chat ... period ... I guess it is hard for me to see that WayGB really would care. How do they use stuff against people? Since I've been gone from wayfers for 20 years, it is hard for me to conceive of them as having any influence over folks here. And it's not like there should be anything to hide about getting out of a cult. "I'm here I'm normal Get used to it" LOL .. well, maybe not normal ... but not a wayfer. But I'll try not to out any of you "outies" that I know of (people with navels that stick out I mean). There is no one here that I don't feel comfortable chatting with, though some topics are more interesting than others. Generally I try to say exactly what I think and get to the point, but am willing to change my mind on the fly, so to speak. I guess if there is something you want private, tell it in private. In chat you pretty much know who is there, but you have to always assume whatever you say may be monitered and recorded. Do we really know Paw is not WayGB, deep undercover ... secret agent man? It is really hard for me to imagine anything said here is that important, and it seems sort of melodramatic, but I guess you have your reasons. A guy that was wow with my my interim year was talking about going somewhere and sorta spying on wayfers .. I forget now. I just really can't see the point. Anyway, chat to me is just "CHAT". Humor is the number one priority ... data mining is not anywhere on my list. If you want to leave when I show up ... fine, maybe that will open the door for another that isn't here because of you Just so MarkO doesn't chat, cuz he uses too many big words. But really, I'm used to chats where there are different discussions going on at the same time ... you just jump in on the conversations you are interested in. You don't leave if someone you don't like is there, you just talk to others mostly. I like the faster simpler less delayed chat. It seems flash chat is too bogged down. And how do you get rid of that time stamp on every line? And all those avatars are just clutter when they are on every line.
  17. Happy birthday man .... I thought you were much older than me ... 50 is still young :)
  18. Is this one of those deals where you have to be "trippin" for it to make any sense? Had some spring here, forsythia bushes are yellow, but they are talking a little snow tomorrow maybe, and I had to go gather a little more wood ... eagles have gone north though, but lotsa big white pelicans are coming through along the Mississippi River, which is really cool ...
  19. I didn't read through all Belle's links, but I do remember vp saying we probably wouldn't have been any worse off (or did he say might have been better off?) if Germany had won the war. edited ... after reading the other notes ... I guess I should say I remember it as vp saying that .. it could have been craig or someone saying vp said it ... but it is something that definitely stuck in my brain as coming from vp ...
  20. I was hoping to see Illini vs UConn ... oh well Big Ten is already down to just Ohio State now I think ... other than maybe rooting for Gonzaga, I've lost interest in the tourney now ... the Illini message room felt they got screwed, Weber seemed to feel that way too ... Brown said they (Illinois) were hacking and undisciplined ... I think Washington had 7 field goals in the second half ... Illinois had a run, but got shut down with the foul calls. It seemed Washington was hacking pretty good as well. Oskee Wow Wow

    march madness

Man, I just watched Illinois lose to Washington ... they were up by 10 with 10 minutes to go, but Illini were 9-11 from the line with only 2 free throws in the second half. Washington was 28 of 39. They had double bonus for the last 8 minutes I think, seemed a little biased to me. Oh well ...
  22. That sounds right Tom ...
  23. OK, I see your point Belle :) I was just so anxious to show how smart I was about airline procedure  I owe you a tray of crawfish and a beer
