  1. Tigers showin they are so good they can pitch to Pujols with a base open ? Mwahh ha ha haaa That fast ball didn't quite get past Rolen this time ... Even Reyes is lookin' pretty good Lookin better for now at least 4-1 end 4 (OK, Leland says they were sposed to be pitching around him, but got one too close)
  2. Speaking of the gashouse gang ... Dizzy and Paul Dean ... but they called Paul Daffy ...LOL, now those were fun times I bet ... Dizzy and Daffy ... In the 1934 World Series, the Cards and Tigers split the first two games in Detroit, and Detroit took two of the next three in St. Louis. St. Louis proceeded to win the next two, including an 11-0 embarrassment of the Tigers in Detroit to win the Series. The stars for the Cards were Joe Medwick, who had a .379 batting average with one of St. Louis' two home runs and a series-high five RBI, and the Dean Brothers, Dizzy and Paul, who combined for all four of the teams wins with 28 strikeouts and a miniscule 1.43 earned run average. that's from wikipedia My Mom remembers those guys ... they should do a little ESPN spot on that series ...
  3. Yeah, they were in the right division ... even then they tried to give it away, but the Reds folded faster than the Cards were folding ... and the stro's puked it up after a nice 9 in a row run. But hey, all the Padres or Mets had to do was take care of bidness ... but they weren't up to the task. That's why they play the games ... :) I vaguely remember one game in the old Cardinal stadium ... I mean the old old stadium .. Sportsman's Park. I think it was the '64 team .. I still remember all those names. Sportsman Park 11x14 B&W photo former home of the St. Louis Cardinals till 1967. Autographed by the following Cardinals legends: O. Cepeda, Washburn, Marion, H. Walker, Brecheen, Slaughter, McDaniel, Kline, Virdon, and more. You can but that for $450 :) I don't remember those names though ... I remember Brock, Flood, Shannon, McCarver, Javier, Maxville, Cepeda? or was it Bill White? Boyer Gibson Carlton .... I guess that's all I recall ...
  4. I enjoy seeing excie and chatty having fun at Gearboy's expense :)
  5. Well, I'm hoping they make it to a game six. The six in a row they lost to the White Sox/Tigers early in the season doesn't bode well. But you were right about Weaver, he looked a lot better in the playoffs. And Suppan was solid. If Carpenter can pull it together ... with Rolen looking a little healthier, and if Pujols can turn it on ... a lot of ifs ... Cardinals seem to be best with their back right up against the wall. They snoozed a couple times this season till they almost blew their first place lead, then picked it up. Then tonight they almost gave up their 9th inning lead, making it close before closing it out. It seems to be a theme. Good observation on those strikouts, that was pretty awesome to see Beltran look at strike 3 with the ducks on the pond to end the Mets season.

  7. Another note, medicare doesn't pay for nursing home stays, except for limited time periods after an injury of some sort. If you just need more care than you and loved ones can provide, it all comes out of your pocket. I'm not sure what private insurance policies you can get on that. For the most part nursing homes are where you go to die. I'm talking about the skilled care level. If you are still in the assisted living category, there are some nice places with lots of activities that often seem to be a much better choice than staying home. I have an uncle that pays $80K / year to have full time help at his own home. I would recommend encouragement for older folks to spend their money to get themselves the best quality possible, if they have the money. I have 3 uncles that could have had it much better toward the end, but pinched every penny as their nature was I guess. The extra money was left for ungrateful relatives that got a really nice chunk to throw around on things their benefactors never allowed for themselves. :(
  8. nooo thanks, no high scissorlift with you .... lol those things are wobbly and only go straight up ... I used a 45' lift for atriums in New Orleans before ... that would be the way to go I think ... then you can really reach out and touch someone ... or a roof ... more like this I think ZZ Top rents those things ... :) Of course lcm thought a class 1 old aluminum ladder was adequate for the south side of wierwille library I think B mitchell came off the roof to do the north side at some later date ... anything to save twi a dime a nickel saved is another nickel for more drambuie and a better bus ...
  9. yeah ... or Meramac Caverns but no one can see this from the road ... I'm like a half mile down a lane off the blacktop maybe Jef Mackeey will volunteer to do the high work .... heh Maybe I'll rent a lift when I get to the barn.
  10. You are such a spoil sport vegan ... but I agree I think a typical ratio of patients to workers at a nursing home is like 3 or 4 to one. I wonder what it is one a cruise line. Of course a nursing home sends its patients out for all kinds of health care ... so that would have to be on board. The folks taking care of the ship also comes into play. Here you can get assisted living places for like $65/day, or $90/day for two. On a ship you'd have to consider the isolation from family factor.
  11. Why not start a crusie line that caters to retirees ... depending on the care you need, you could get on the proper ship that specializes in that. Need cataract surgery? That ship is going to Tahiti ...
  12. so Cory Lidle flew his plane into the Manhattan building sheesh ... an accident I guess he was a Yank pitcher man
  13. So Saint Lou is the underdog ... the over under is 9 ... what the hell does that mean? OK, I looked it up, 9 runs total, you bet over or under that ... duh but I still don't get the 175 ... do you like red better than blue simon? :) And the current line is 175? All I ever looked at was the spread. Weaver against Glavine ... doesn't look good for the Cards, but you never know ... maybe they get to Glavine early.
  14. you know ... tops backwards is spot, which is a dog so tops is the opposite of a dog ... which is a cat ... or a fine babe ... just thought I'd throw that word study in while we wait for the next puzzle :)
  15. you have to run the mouse over your name at the bottom of the page ... ok, those pages do have cute bottoms and I did flirt with them, but I didn't send them any emails ... 5902 messages here ... what a bunch of insightful revelation ... or is it just hot air? Painting part of the granary was today's chore ... but now I pretty much have to paint the barn ...
  16. Heh ... it's not acid, it's glue ... PVC glue ... this old chicken house needs a lot of plumbing work ... I leave the reply window open sometimes while I wonder off in other windows. Fortunately technology is not yet clever enough to know "Rhino is nose picking ... and it's a big booger" LOL I don't buy that country bumpkin routine excie ... bumpkins don't go to Broadway plays ... unless it is Minnie Pearl. I'm more the bumpkin type ... :)
  17. Nika, I am letting this years vintage age gracefully for a few months ... but I still have about 60 bottles of last year's red which is pretty good I think. But for me, if I don't get sick and get a buzz ... it is good. Tom, are you on the run from the law or sumpthin' ? You are always in a different town. And don't tell me you work for the Merry Ott or sumpthin' Simon ... sounds like you have a cool daughter ... you must miss her now, but look at all the vicarious living you get as a bonus. Do you have that truck in shape yet? Yankeys lost yahooo ... now if the Cards can close it out tonight ... life will be complete Complete, complete , complete in him I am my own grandpa .... I guess I'm forgetting the words ... Is this the karaoke korps now? We have at least one singing okie ... everybody please rise and turn to number 52 in your sing along the way ...
  18. yeah, you'd sound just like the taxi cabs ... aren't you the one with tongues like "booop boop boop beep beep beep" ?
  19. That is not my beautiful house This is not my beautiful wife ... Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down Letting the days go by/water flowing underground Into the blue again/after the money’s gone Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground. I have a couple big aquariums stored in there, but the damned squirrels or coons chewed the stand of one to bits ... chewed right through the 2x4's Dam rocky racoon ...
  20. What? I can't beetch about twi now? I'm still beetchin about that bad call at first base that let the Royals beat the Cards. (that was like '87?) Those effin umps will rot in hell, I'm sure. And as upset as I still am about that ... who is tellin me I gotta get over those twi bastids that effed with so many good people? Beyond the healing and get over it and whatever ... it is just a reality ... I will joyously light and fuel the fires of internet hell by always referring to those turkeys with appropriate degradation.
  21. lookin better for the cards ... they may get psyched up ... dodgers came back but have given it right back ... 6-4 bottom 7th i sure don't want no steenkin subway series go cards ... go anyone but overpaid yankees
  22. So this is really about a cheesecake laxative ... ? Or is it a kama sutra rework on some black body's physique while listening to instruments in the back of a 1989 Ford explorer? I didn't realize they gave out Nobel prizes for that kinda stuff, but I'd be interested in the video. (the no cheesecake laxative version please)
  23. that's my tree ... and what color do you think the drapes were that were on that tree? blue ... oh no they weren't .. they were fire engine red ...
