the Brewers are back in it now? I just said Brewers 'cuz my sister is in Milwaukee, so I was hoping they'd beat the Padres once they were out, to help the Rockies, where my cousins are ... and Hap of course ... so you are saying it is too late for the Cardinals now?
-
This says it for the Mets fans But at least they had a season of joy .... except for one game in second place. And I quit watching the Rockies and Brewers 'cuz they said they the Rockies were out ... man ... so one more game ... go Rockies ... Simon, will you wear a Cubs shirt to the Arizona game if you go? We had a Quincy cubs farm team for the cubs when I was a kid, so I can get behind them, but it was always a 50/50 cubs cards fan loyalty split here ... Would this be white sox, then cardinals, then cubs?

Well maybe it was true, except VP was the alcoholic ... and he never got better ...

That video was so inspiring ... is there a twig in my area? I'd lost the faith, but am ready to go back now ...

way to go Acts2 ... on ebay ... yeah, the curly haired red was 9th ... I actually remember her rolling her eyes at a lead gal trying to instruct her on how to use 3 tp squares, funny since that was spoken of in some thread here LOL Red Geranium? New Harmony? I'm west central Illinois, we have geraniums but not much hominy ;)
-
I saw a 9th corps redhead in there acts2 ... not sure of anyone else ... we sure knew a lot of twi in those days ... moving every year, new groups ... there is probably only one or two degrees of seperation for twits from back in the late 70's. :) If you don't know them, you at least know someone that knows them ...

I just saw all 3 second place teams in the National are 2 games back, and of those three, the Rockies and Phillies are one behind the Padres for the wild card. And the Rockies have won 9 in a row. That must be a record for "closeness" this late. And I can only imagine somehow Bradley's parents were playing Twister, and he was conceived somehow ... and so they named him Milton.

That sounds like Grosse Point Blank. He said they did tests and his character fit a certain ... "profile". LOL But yeah, how do you convince your servants to be thankful when they clean your toilet? And not only do they not get paid, but they have another job so they can pay you! And finances ... right ... it seems in every category, the rank and file did not get the real training needed. Perhaps our final contribution to the younger corps could be a manual on all these advanced leadership techniques. Or not ... :)

The leaves are just starting to turn a little here in Illinois. We got 142 bushels corn per acre on our little 13 acres ... not bad considering some 100 degree dry days in August. About our continued learning process, I'm not sure what else there is to learn from that distant past, but I suppose there is something. I'll throw this out ... farmers work pretty hard. It may be that VP's farm work ethic helped him achieve what he did, even as twisted as it became. And it may be that desire to escape the hard work led him to more nefarious endeavors. Perhaps what we learn as wise adults  can give us more insight into that little world that for most of us was our 20's. I'd like to offer some training changes for future Corpse programs. It sure would have been more fun if they had just put a few kegs of beer down on the garden level of Wierwille every weekend. It now seems alcohol was a key component of VP's ministry, and he should have shared that fully. And shouldn't those warm ups for public speaking have included more swearing? Clearly the ability to curse up a storm was vital to motivational techiques. The most important things were left out of our training. And why seperate men and women in the dorms at all. We should have been sharing rooms and showers ... it would have helped us all loosen up sexually, as VP helped Craig do. Why did only the top leadership get that training? I would rather have gotten my aerobic points having sex than running the stairs in Kenyon and pounding the pavement. So to all my 9th corpse sistern, I truly regret we did not koineneo more fully ... if only we had had drunken showers together, where we laleo'd foul language and practiced our tongues ... that would have really bonded us and made us all better 9th Way Corps ... Or was that happening over in Kipp or Kenyon, and I just missed it?

I'll root for the Cubs over the Indians in the Series ... The Indians last won in 1948 ... the Yankees have won 15 times since then. The Cubs were in the Series 4 out of 5 years from 1906 to 1910, and won twice. They haven't been back to win since then, but have been back 5 times, the last time in 1945.

Apparently that was how the British press interpretted what the Pope said ... which maybe was what he mostly meant when he spoke of the right to change religion. I missed this from that article ... A poll earlier this year of more than 1,000 young adult British Muslims found that 36% believe those who convert to another faith should be punished by death. YIKES .... So much for tolerance ... doesn't that make "mark and avoid" seem kinda wimpy?
-
It looks like the Pope felt the need to speak out about Muslims rights to convert to Christianity ... The Pope has again risked provoking the wrath of the Islamic world, by criticising its treatment of Christians. Benedict XVI attacked Muslim nations where Christians are either persecuted or given the status of second-class citizens under the Shariah Islamic law. He also defended the rights of Muslims to convert to Christianity, an act which warrants the death penalty in many Islamic countries. His comments came almost exactly a year after he provoked a wave of anger among Muslims by quoting a Byzantine emperor who linked Islam to violence.

There are also thousands of newsgroups ... for years I read stuff like misc.rural alt.solar.thermal rec.crafts.winemaking most email programs can access newsgroups I think.

I prefer multiple choice questions ... I think he feels the need to be in jail ...

Jim says he gets AA's for about 20 cents ... about the same as if you take the 32 out of the big battery. And if Jim's are alkalines, they would be a better deal than the heavy duty. Right?

It does seem there is demand for certain jobs ... then again I have seen janitorial go to lowballers that hire cheap (illegal?) labor. I don't know how it is now, but it was harder for the quality guy to ace out the guy with 50 cheap workers. But if you are going legit, you probably have to charge double what you really want to make per hour. Getting jobs and a reputation by working a little cheap at first might be wise ... but be sure to raise your rates consistently ... Maybe the other wiser janitorial types have better advice. Me ... I'm working on lottery numbers ... VP was wrong, God will give me those numbers ... come on lucky 7. :) That's my retirement plan ... though I may go to stock market gambling ... better odds ...
-
Well gee Hills .. just get a good space in the parking lot ... party with the tailgaters and watch on TV from the lot ... the beer & food will be cheaper too ... BBQ ... jello shots ... weeeeeeeeee .... oh yeah ... weee, weeee maybe a bucket for a bathroom ...

I saw part of the Final Four basketball one year from the cheap seats in the Superdome ... it was fun to be there, but hard to see any detail ... it will look about like this little pic here ... tiny little guys chasing around a tinier little puck ...

I just went ahead and put milk in the toaster ... it seems just punishment for burying the survivors ...

There was nothing difficult about your point ... it is basic moral equivalence. Because 0.01% of Christians support bombing abortion clinics, you equate that with the 10-20% of Muslims that polls have shown support terrorism. It is not surprising you know more peaceful Muslims ... I never sid ALL ... most are peaceful ... but percentage wise a lot more are supportive of terrorism. I don't expect you to get my point ... because you are on a mission ... "One of my goals in constantly arguing about this is to get people to see that there is no monolithic "Islam" any more than there is a monolithic Christianity." and ... The problem is that what you and others here are doing is combining moderate Muslims in with the equivalent of the Christian snake handlers. Most people do this out of either ignorance or bigotry, and I'm assuming the former around here. That is not the problem ... everyone here "gets" that probably 80% are just good folks, at least in the US ... of the other 20%, most would appear to be good folks till you hear of what the imams are saying in "church". sigh ... Imams and Islam are the big part of the politics ... recognizing that is not hatred. You have to cherry pick your history to not see Mohammed used the sword, and that Islam has a bloody history. Some were treated OK after they were subdued and under sharia law. Picking some relatively positive points about Islam and claiming that proves there is no huge negative is just goofy. The news doesn't cover positives much, whether it is Iraq or Islam. It is dishonest moral equivalence to claim the 15% of Muslims that support terrorism equals 0.01% of Christians that support bombing abortion clinics. Leaving a Christian group is much safer than leaving Islam ... your anecdotal evidence and ad hominem attacks not withstanding.

Right Cathy, sadly I put it here in open just because the contrast struck me. While twi effects were large for many of us ... and for some there was more impact than others ... at least we had no real fear of physical harm when we left. The emotional harm seems terrible, but compared to parts of the Islam cult, there is really no comparison. Maybe it is easier ot get out of parts of Islam in America than it was to leave TWI ... but thankfully nothing in the epistles supports killing people that don't show up for twig, or that don't bow to the east at the right times have fluent enough tongues.

Ahhh, thanks, I missed that ... The Cardinals really won a couple of those close ones, but the umpire machines were flawed giving the D-backs the victory ... It should have gone to court ... But yeah, I thought of you and Simon down there. This may be the year for Simon's cubbies ...
-
I'd like to revise my statement that the Cardinals are going to repeat ... it just doesn't seem to be in the cards. They were within one when they made their run ... for the bottom. They've lost 8 in a row now ... if they win the next three against the Cubbies, I reserve the right to change my tune, but otherwise ... Go Cubs

LCM info I thought everyone might be interested in

We are just concerned about the fallen MOG ... He probably does better selling hot dogs ... except it may not be his own stand ... poor guy. If he is really doing that, surely someone will get a pic. Would you like fries with that? I've never seen a hot dog stand outside Home Depot, except on contractor days. So he's a CBO for a fortune 500 company ... Chief Boiler Operator ... so he has his weiner in his hand all day. Well, he had more than his 15 minutes of fame. -
What amazes me P-Mosh is your constant claim of moral equivalence between Islam and Christianity. You claimed Christians would blow up the house of a congressman if he blaphemed Jesus, yet that has never happened. You want to ignore all the faith based Islam beheadings and cruel treatment of women and calls for death of those that speak out against Islam... apparently because you don't know these people. So you must think it was all made up by cable news and biased web sites ... good grief. Only major network news is safe for you apparently. As out there as TWI is/was, they haven't resorted to physical violence. That was really my main point ... people can leave TWI or other radical Christian groups without fear. Not so with the radical side of Islam. Leaving TWI ... piece of cake ... Thanks Dan ... another part of the article I first mentioned gave several verses about killing those that leave Islam. It seems it IS difficult to leave in many Muslim environments.
