I'm not in a rush to get the HD .. will enjoy the big bright picture for a bit .. then get WOWed again witht he HD ... but the free equipment deal for subscribers ends in /january ... so may go ahead now. I'll need the new dish too, not sure if that is included for free. Gettin' late for the yankees ... 12 outs left ...
-
Looks good for the Indians .. but NY does have the talent .. maybe they are waiting to get inspired ...
-
At least for the National league, it seems odd that both series went 3-0, when the end of the season was so close for all the teams. OK, the cubs were weak, but it is good to see the lower class doing so well (speaking of salary) Boston is the exception ... so they need to lose ... but I guess the yankers still have a chance ... slim to none ... and slim is overpaid ... Clemens era this game is about 13 ... oh, I got the 47" 1080 p lcd phillips .. but don't have the hi def yet ... still nice.
-
I didn't remember it, but 8 heads was pretty good as I vaguely recall ... pollyanna
-
I was just chit chattin .. I don't even know the guy ... I'm lookin at a phillips 47" 1080p for $1700, WalMart has it .. cool about DISH HD for tbs, they obviously respect the rocky phone calls ... DISH will give me the basic DISH HD equipment if I commit to 18 months HD upgrade with them, which costs $20 more per month I will add that I played first base, not for my power, but because I was misunderstood ... I was recruited to pitch, but I looked too serious so coach thought I didn't like it .. so he put me on first ... moron ... I had a little real coaching from a good pitcher ... I coulda been a contender ... I coulda been somebody ... (instead of going in the way corpse) and that is the only reason why you don't see my name in the record books ... /bar commentary

Well I guess that is true ... his presence handling game situations isn't the same if he is in street clothes ... but it would still help some. And if he isn't really producing ... well, what do I know ... I've never even been in "the room".
-
if that means for his presence in the locker room ... why not just pay him to be in "the room" and get a player to do the playing? So this round could be all wrapped up by tomorrow .. but that would be kinda boring ...
-
reminds me of a sand volleyball final in new orleans near the (old wood) quarter ... hot night coed doubles ... the termites come out in swarms and we play with them sticking all over us, spitting them out as need be ... only much worse than they show there in Cleveland ... top of the order coming up for the tribe ... this should do it ...
-
they seem to have come out about the 7th ... but since it helped cleveland (maybe) ... figured Gawd sent them against the yankees ... plus I'm just following up on the "evil yankees" theme struck ARod out ... bottom nine ...
-
Man guy on third again, line shot right at first base ... Indians just can't plate em ... the yankees really are evil, God has plagued them with bugs ... another wild pitch yahooooo Go tribe ... one wild pitch whole season, 2 in this inning . .. God has sent his bugs ...

How about paying everyone a base salary, and then pay the rest on actual performance? They could weight it a little for division/schedule weakness. Big bonuses for playoffs ... At the end of each game you could read how much each player made that day. This year I think I saw Clemens got about a million per start. If it was performance based he might have gotten the minimum.

It seems Google has started with bigger cities ... my county GIS site has much better maps for rural. And they even have property parcels, soil maps, contour lines, ... pretty nifty.

1 New York Yankees $194,663,079 2 Boston Red Sox $120,099,824 3 Los Angeles Angels $103,472,000 4 Chicago White Sox $102,750,667 5 New York Mets $101,084,963 6 Los Angeles Dodgers $98,447,187 7 Chicago Cubs $94,424,499 8 Houston Astros $92,551,503 9 Atlanta Braves $90,156,876 10 San Francisco Giants $90,056,419 11 St. Louis Cardinals $88,891,371 12 Philadelphia Phillies $88,273,333 13 Seattle Mariners $87,959,833 14 Detroit Tigers $82,612,866 15 Baltimore Orioles $72,585,582 16 Toronto Blue Jays $71,915,000 17 San Diego Padres $69,896,141 18 Texas Rangers $68,228,662 19 Minnesota Twins $63,396,006 20 Washington Nationals $63,143,000 21 Oakland Athletics $62,243,079 22 Cincinnati Reds $60,909,519 23 Arizona Diamondbacks $59,684,226 24 Milwaukee Brewers $57,568,333 25 Cleveland Indians $56,031,500 26 Kansas City Royals $47,294,000 27 Pittsburgh Pirates $46,717,750 28 Colorado Rockies $41,233,000 29 Tampa Bay Devil Rays $35,417,967 30 Florida Marlins $14,998,500 So the Yankees spent twice as much as the Cubs, and about 40 million more than Arizona, Cleveland and the Rockies combined. That was 2006 ... it went down a little for 2007, but then they added Clemens at $20 mil, right? Jason Giambi, NYY $23,428,571 2.Alex Rodriguez, NYY $22,708,525 3.Derek Jeter, NYY $21,600,000 4.Manny Ramirez, BOS $17,016,381 5.Todd Helton, COL $16,600,000 6.Andy Pettitte, NYY $16,000,000 7.Bartolo Colon, ANA $16,000,000 8.Jason Schmidt, LA $15,703,946 9.Barry Bonds, SF $15,533,970 10.Richie Sexson, SEA $15,500,000 11.Bobby Abreu, NYY $15,000,000 I see $100 million for the five Yankees there ... and Clemens was $20 million wasn't he, again that is 2006. Now I see Clemens actually cost the Yankees 26 mil, if you count the "luxury tax" charged for exceed a certan team payroll amount. I think that means the top 5 yankees make more than all complete teams except Boston. The Cubs were at $99 million this year.

How can you NOT root for the Cubs? I wonder what the odds are for the Cubs winning this round now ... 20 to 1 ? And of course it is natural to root against the Yankers ... they spend more on their top five guys than most do on the whole team. Well, this site says the odds are 14-1 for the Cubs to win the world series I think. Boston is 2-1 Rockies 3-1 Indians 7-2 Yankees 4-1 Arizona 7-1

yahoooo .... Cubs get a lead 2-0 yes, there are some cub fans at the game

All I know is a decent graphics programs will let you do layers, and you can fade the layers in and out with varying levels of opacity. So you could map your locations, then make a new layer for each competitor, or each stage of growth. But if you want something that presents them for something like a meeting, I guess you'd be talking powerpoint maybe. In other words ... I don't know. :)

No, but I saw why the Cubs lost game one ... Confused Cubs Think They're Going To Arizona To Start Spring Training PHOENIX—Chicago Cubs players reluctantly followed Coach Lou Pinella's orders to pack their equipment for a trip to Arizona Monday, causing many on the ball club to wonder why they were starting spring training nearly six months ahead of schedule. "We must have done something right this season, though, because I heard our first exhibition game is already sold out."
-
Thanks for the entertainment psalmie :) It sounds like it was some basic math problems that they tried to make interesting ... but maybe confused some things .. but no big deal. A guess parents learn a lot that they forgot the first time through school ... I wouldn't have known about torque but for what you said. George might be of some help in chemistry too ;) he was studying real science while I was being a WOW and a college WOW ... sigh ...
-
heh ... yeah it was easier to root for Gibson, Brock, Boyer ... than Ron Santo ... Cards had a couple world series when I was a kid, they won in '64 and '67 and lost in '68 ... Cub fans were learning to be long suffering ... ;) ha ... well, I'll predict a Cub win in 5, but Accuscore figures 45% to 55% odds against them for tonight, with a 1.5 run spread. back to back homers ... 3-2 rockies after 5
-
the length of the "wrench" is just from the definition of torque I think. But they say pressure ... and Jim's definition says pressure ... but they both really just give force, as I see it. Obviously they didn't go to U of Illinois :) But I got it "right" on the 2nd try, except for some rounding ... not sure why they say the size or type of bolt ... all we really did was multiply the 40 pounds force by transferring one turn of that distance into 0.1" downward.
-
DISH wasn't carrying Cardinal games at the beginning of the season ... also some negotiation problem. And even after most was resolved, I think we still didn't get games against Atlanta that used to be on TBS. With all the different providers, and then the MLB season ticket .. it can be a mess to figure out. I was about to dump DISH for Direct, except Direct didn't have our local channels. Then when their pitcher died, we started getting the games .... So the Rockies play at 2 central time ...

It would appear the flying pig had it right from the start, according to Jim, but George makes some sense maybe ... it is asking for pressure, which would include the area the force is acting on? like psi ... pounds/square inch the 2 pi r just gives the distance over which the 40 foot pounds "acts" in one turn ... which is transferred (friction free) to one tenth of an inch down? ''''''''''''''' 2pi x R Q = F x --------- '''''''''''''''''''' P Where Q = pressure exerted by bolt ' F = force exerted on end of wrench ' R = length of wrench ' p = thread lead Assuming a 1 foot wrench, 40 pounds pressure and 10 threads/inch... ''''''''''''6.283 x 1 40 x ------------ = 2513.2 lbs '''''''''''''''''' .1 so ... 40 pounds x 6.283 x 1 foot / .0083 foot = 30,163 pounds but that is not pressure? So the 3/4" is the area the pounds works on? Whatever the area is, it seems you need that to get pressure instead of force. Many of those physics brain cells have died for me, but their ghosts want to know the answers.

I remember once questioning the numbers, just based on how much effort that would have taken from the war effort. But it seems all the effort to imprison or exterminate the jews did hurt the war effort for Germany. But one million or six million seems the same to me, as far as really comprehending that many exterminated. Still I agree there is certain stigma attached if you even doubt any of the numbers ... it is like a sacrilege. I suppose the genocide "hate crime" aspect makes it most horrible, but what of the other 65 million that died in WW2? 40 million of those were civilians. Are their children all receiving reparations from Germany, Italy, or Japan? 16 million civilians deaths in China, 11 million in the Soviet Union.
-
I'll play along for fun :) wouldn't twice as many threads per inch make for twice the force down, with same torque applied? so 3/4" is the diameter of the bolt at the threads ... giving an area (or a distance)? so the 40 foot pounds / area times threads per inch ? needs some conversions

hap and I are giving expert ANALysis in chat yeah, i was sup-rised tbs had it
