9 outs left for arizona ... 4-1 rockies looks a little rocky for the snakes ...

I heard there was hail in Denver this morning ... should be a hail of a game ...

Thanks friend Dot ... I responded in kind But my email gave me a link to "manage my friends" How would you like to be managed? Who is it that calls their members "friends"? It's like the amish or quakers or something ... Suda, you are now a 5 star general like excie ...

That seems a common feeling, that we somehow put ourselves into the game that way. There must be some interesting studies on the whole fan ritual, attachment thing. Of course a lot is vicarious living of childhood dreams perhaps. They just showed "Field of Dreams" on TV ... the old ball field for the little town by me used to be alongside my lane. Maybe I should build a field here that's my uncle in the 1930's ... baseball was a big thing in the communities ...

I'll have to try Shiraz sometime ... sounds good. :) Now I'm wondering how many times you can vote. It seems to let you vote maybe 5 times in a row, but maybe it really isn't counting each one. Anyway I tried about twenty 5 star votes on yours but it never budged off 4 stars. But some of us like to have a little bad anyway, I guess

no, not emulate ... but some people surely get upset with things political ... like they were upset with Larry ... except he didn't really just have a wide stance ... Of course I'm telling the truth ... I don't want a list of special friends ... I put people on my list as my friend when they put me on their list, and it is nice that they do ... but then I have a list, which excludes people only because I don't put everyone on the list. Well, there may be a couple that I wouldn't put on ... Thanks for the beer DMiller ... you're a 5 star kinda guy ... cheers And thanks nottawayfer ... I think the stars are updated right after you click on a star ... so it updated the average ... I'd guess one or two from the left in the political forum decided to slime me with one star ... everyone else loves me ;)

Holy Cow ... I just woke up ... couldn't believe they were still playing ... This is good ... and Mstar used up all his mojo I bet
-
LOL ... you don't really want Boston to win 4 straight do you? well, OK, you do .. but I'd rather see it go 7, and am of course rooting for the lowly Indians... still lotsa time ..

So I have four stars now, but no free drinks ... oh well ... I feel great though .. many people had no stars, and I made them 5 stars ... so now they can get all puffed up ... unless they are like tiny tim, and promise not to get puffed up ... wasn't that part of his vows? may he rest in peace ... I guess he is under the tulips now ... instead of tip toeing through ... thanks for stalking me excie ... :)

That's hilarious flow ... except that it is so sad ...

I just visited about 25 people, and gave them 5 stars ... :) But I only have three ... must be my political wide stance ... Also if you check someone's name, then you get listed as having visited ... and the friends thing ... I don't really have a list of people I like ... I just put anyone on... I like everyone ... well, I don't want to have a list of special friends really ... anyway, it all seems to engender strife somehow ...

well sure it's been relaxing mstar ... your sox won three straight, then beat the Indians ... but they are down now ... do you feel a little restless? I get my HD hooked up tomorrow ... :)

Word in Bizness wood grain ... PFAL '77, corps tag, two years wow, two years college wow, minuteman ... ummm ... All I know is I'm saving them, in case they really are related to heavenly rewards ... you don't get rewards without your twi nametags ... what if you get to the gate and Peter asks, can I see your name tags? But yes, it was a pretty effective selling tool ...

she should be able to use social security benefits ... They shouldn't sign anything where they agree to pay for her expenses without consulting a lawyer. Family is not liable as far as I know, but hospitals and doctors would love to get someone to sign on a line to collect from them. The government should cover everything once she cannot. The hospitals probably just need her social security number and can figure out the rest. There may even be government payments to the family if they want to care for her themselves. That would be quite a task, but as I understand there are programs to aid in that, since it is cheaper for the government than full time hospital care. But there are smarter people here than I on this subject, so hopefully they will contribute.

I like rumrunners points about over simplifying ... and I'll bring up Al Gore's global warming. Not considering how many variables there are and how complicated determining all those really is, can lead to some simple conclusions that are simply unfounded. It does seem humorous or dangerous that the value of pi can be legislated. If pi=3.1, it can surely be proved that 2+2=5 :o And it seems the bigger part of the inaccuracy besides the truncated g and not saying "the final velocity just before impact", is not considering air resistance. Understanding that would help clear up that urban legend about the penny dropped from the empire state building embedding itself 6 inches into the concrete, because of the incredible speed it reaches. I think terminal velocity is when air resistance =g? Of course the questions are greatly abbreviated, but it would be educational to see just how many assumptions are made even in something so seemingly simple. so we would really need to consider: the shape of the stone, and smoothness, making it really impossible to be completely accurate the density g at that location the downdraft from the helicopter that dropped the stone ???

Well it was the same test ... I only missed two this time LOL

We just took this test a couple months ago ...

Like in politics, I can't even believe you are serious at times ... But despite your biased photo ... He pushed off the bag at about 90 degrees to give a full body block with the arm thrown up high. Here is the ESPN bit ... Justin Upton , running from first base, slid over second base and then rolled his right shoulder into second baseman Kaz Matsui's left leg, knocking the infielder to the ground. Second base umpire Larry Vanover immediately called Upton out for interference, resulting in a double play."I was just playing the game. I did what I was supposed to do," Upton said. "That's what you're taught to do when you slide is pop up.""It's his decision," he said. "I told him I was close to the bag."Vanover wasn't buying that explanation."You had obvious intent on the part of the runner to break up the double play, and when it turns into intentional, that's when he's out for interference," he said."Once he got to the base, I thought he threw his hip up into the guy, and his intent at that point is not to get to the base. His intent is to crash the pivot man, so you've got obvious intent there," he said.Said Hurdle: "It looked like a good, aggressive slide going in, and I thought he went out of his way to make contact."Upton, barely 20 years old, was in Class A when the season began, but on this big stage he didn't hesitate to let Vanover know how he felt in arguing the call."He's battling out there," Melvin said. "He's trying to take somebody out. He's trying to get us an extra out. He's trying to break up a double play. He was emotional about it."

It looked like interference to me ... I found this rule 7.09 (d) Any batter or runner who has just been put out hinders or impedes any following play being made on a runner. Such runner shall be declared out for the interference of his teammate; Rule 7.09(d) Comment: If the batter or a runner continues to advance after he has been put out, he shall not by that act alone be considered as confusing, hindering or impeding the fielders. It seemed clear he came way off the bag and threw the arm up.

looking pretty good for the Rockies so far 4-1
-
Since I know the answer now, I'll add ... it seems this is a matter of running into a double play, not hitting into it.
-
Not to derail this train of thought with my loco motives ... but I'm so happy I was right, though I think Simon was right at first, so Simon and I tagged up and scored before Tom was thrown out at first ... but the guy would have had to really be off base to not get back before the guy tagging from third made it home. There are many roads rails, that lead to Chicago, but Amtrak goes north to Butte, and west to Denver ... and we don't even have high speed rail yet ... so Linda, your math teacher was either dumb or a visionary :)
-
I was going to say the run would count if it scored before the throw got to first. It's not a "force play", since he wasn't forced to run, so it seems in the same category as the run down, where he is only out because he was caught off base, even though they don't have to tag him. The train going west will go to Denver so it won't run into the train coming from Montana ... Otherwise it would run into the Butte train just about 10 minutes outside of Butte assuming it leaves at 1pm mountain time, though a train going 200 mph might derail before it makes it to the other train. ... :)

yes that was correct ... and I added the link ... thanks for pointing that out :)

This is just a fun little link ... a bunch of cartoon like characters ... mostly musicians ... I never heard of two thirds of them, a few I got ... like these ... at the link, you hold the mouse over the image and the name appears ... doesn't seem to work here.
