How beautiful KIT. I think about this often. I feel it comes down to the LOVE/charity aspect. When God said "love your neighbor as yourself", many people look at themselves and say 'well, I need to love myself more.' But that is not the case. We already LOVE ourselves enough to wake up, get dressed, stuff our faces, buy things, etc.................so really, we should love others at the least just as much. It is a beautiful thing when you find a friend like that. It reminds me of the love God and Jesus had for us. This song by Steven Curtis Chapman is one of my favorites, No Greater LOVE Man of courage with your message of peace What is that look in your eyes? Why have you come to this faraway place? What is this story you would lay down your life to tell? What kind of love can this be? There is no greater love than this There is no greater gift that can ever be given To be willing to die so another might live There is no greater love than this Broken hearted from all you have lost How can you sing through your tears? What is this music that can bear such a cost? What is this fire that grows stronger against the wind? What kind of flame can this be? This is the love that God showed the world When He gave us His Son So we could know His love forever Beyond the gates of splendor

Thanks free2love, but glory to God for sure. He is really working overtime on my heart lately, and put that verse to me 3 times in one day through various things. WILD! I just love relying on Him to get me through the day, and not my old way of ''leading'' him around. Glad you were blessed, it blessed me too. The other part of it was the "boasting'' aspect. We did a word study on that this week and .........hello???We are not to boast in ourselves but in Him! Love that. bliss

if God is love, who needs jesus?
bliss replied to sprawled out's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
I personally, and doctrinally think it is not a matter of forgiveness but a matter of reconciliation. Legally, since Adam and Eve broke God's commandment, the penalty was spiritual death. In order to get that spirit back (legally, because God is just) He had to send a saviour to redeem mankind, the relationship with God. ( I still believe this) Lets say one of your children takes your car without your permission. The law says you have to be old enough to drive. Your children know this, but being 12 years old they decide to disobey anyway. They get in the car, and drive down the highway and hits another car and both are totaled. Do you forgive your child for disobeying? Of course you will. Is there some kind of legal problem to deal with that is still there? Yes. Just because you forgive your child doesn't mean there is no consequences. Once the legal issue is resolved, then you can move on as long as the judge doesn't revoke a future licence. Lets say you, the parent, now have to pay a price. $100 whatever to the court, as well as damage to the other persons car. But, legally, your child would have this on their record, but because you paid the price, the judge can be merciful and clean the record so he doesn't have to pay for it later. Now, you forgave him for disobeying and justice forgives him. To me, this is a mediocre example, but since you used your own children, I did for the sake of arguement. We can go to God's word and look..... 2Cor 5:18, 19, 20 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled (re-connected, united) us to Himelf by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation ( re-connection); to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling (re-uniting/connecting) the world unto Himself, not imputing (reckoning) their transgressions to them; and having laid upon us (the responsibility or burden of ) the message of the re-connection. On Christ's behalf therefore we are ambassadors.......be ye re-connected to God. (paraphrase, from the companion bible) This is not a "forgive and forget treaty", but a command to return to God by means of the new connection, only available by the death and resurection of Jesus Christ. We now have the access to God that was lost in Adam. I will pray for you sprawled out, that you can see with your spiritual eyes. I hope that you aren't giving God the black eye because of TWI. But, as always, this is where I put my faith and heart. Opinions do vary. -
Meaning he's doing it (staying alive) for the people's sake? Sounds like it. TWI used to try an explain this verse about "death is gain". I never understood. I will look up my notes on it, unless you know already................ You can't run me off

You think? I am sorry, I am not a doctrinal wordsmith like you all. Maybe if I spend more time down here? I have a lot of stuff that I am discovering on my new spiritual journey outside of WAYLAND. It is quite exciting, I have to say. His Holiness does involve fire, and pain and faith. That is why Romans 6 talks about "living sacrifice". It's a continuous thing we are to walk in.

Ok i need to finish my thought here...........if "faith without works is dead" then, dead can mean works that are done without faith? just thinking out loud. God blesses saint and sinner alike, would you agree, Alan? Then what is it? To me, it is about a RELATIONSHIP which is why I disagree with the notion that TWI taught us a true relationship with God. They just taught us what a book said about God. The rest is up to us. Going deep/stripping down all masks and facades, brings a closeness factor that for me was totally missing before. most of the "all nine all the time'', believing = receiving, all power" doctrine did nothing but elevate us, detract from God and make us all a little nuts.

Oh, "I"am sorry Allen, "I" must have misunderstood this post. was God mentioned in it??? Not picking at you, but, really, you should look up "boasting." It would do ya good. You are correct, that God is always at work in peoples lives, no matter what "works'' they do. Todd- the repentence thing is a really big deal. Too many of us Twiers thought to admit we are sinners or unworthy meant "condemnation". It is not true at all. It is about humility and godly sorrow. So we would say "greater is he that's in me....." and sin, and never repent truly, because "we've been forgiven". that is why we would carry such an elitist view. IMO
-
Very interesting Todd Not many people would be comfortable doing this It would mean they 'd have to come face to face with "THEMSELVES" (ahhh the horror) I'd have to face my wretchedness my guiltiness my ugliness my selfishness my worthlisness my sins maybe then, just maybe this is what it takes to truly understand what Christ did for us. I know we "know" what He did for us. But, he paid the price so we didn't have to, because of all those things we are. Only Adam/Eve and Jesus were born innocent. If you think you are innocent, then you blame others for everything. My pursuit is holiness= complete dependence on HIM.

Just check out James 4:13-17 Belle. That pretty much sums it up for me. James 4:13-17 (KJV) Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. 17Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

a holy kiss for you Roy! It's your birthday It's your birthday........

first, ya'll need a spankin! second, Allen, I love ya, so please do a word search on "boasting". Your boasting should be in the LORD only, and not of yourself. Those examples may be a great testimony, but should give GLORY TO GOD, and not yourself or your methodology. Next, I'd love these threads to be "free" thinking to all possibilities, and not just are preconceived doctrine tell us. It is all about perception. so I love reading others "view", so that God can show me what I need to know. John 14:26 .............."the holy ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring you to remembrance..............." let us not forget this..............in TWI we didnt' even know this verse exsisted. (me anyway) now, lets kiss and make up and get on with it

Here is an example of how I started getting OUT of this mindset: We live behind a farm. New developement here. Developers are trying to buy the land behind my house, which means, instead of trees, I'll get a neighbor. Now, I could say, "I am believing for nobody to sell this land". That was my knee jerk response. Then a neighbor came over and we discussed it, and she said, "well, what if a family is PRAYING for a home and this is the only place it can be?" All my believing ??? What am I believing? Even Jesus PRAYED :"Lord , THY will be done on earth, as it is in heaven?" God does say to pray a lot....... (James 5:16) then, let HIS will be done. Boy is this a weight off my shoulders. I like to now say "Lord, what is Your pleasure?" It sounds better than "will" to me, but same heart. We are to believe that He is, believe who He is, and believe that He is a rewarder to those that seek HIM. It doesn't say to believe for a new car, or for no neighbors, or for a "perfect" life.......... He seeks His glory, we are not to revel in our own. The whole "believing" concept makes us glory in ourselves, or condemn ourselves. The whole 4th and 5th chapter of James is awesome in this aspect; "...13 Go to now, ye that say, "today or tomorrow WE WILL go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14 whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15 for that ye ought to say "if the LORD WILL we shall live, and do this or that." 16 but now YE REJOICE IN YOUR BOASTINGS: all such rejoicing is evil.... as always...imho bliss
-
Ahhh yes, good ol ''believing".... don't you all know that God Almighty, rearranges the whole universe to accomidate "me?" Oh, yes, one time, I ''believed'' to sit next to a "normal'' person on a flight, and wouldn't you know, it happend! Sorry, couldn't help it..................recent example from an innie.... I do not negate God doing MIRACLES in peoples lives, but that is NOT because of OUR believing, it was because we just believe in HIM.
-
An Emphatic NO! In TWI we were trying to know ''about'' HIM, instead of knowing HIM. God is not into ''events'' (heavy revvy,)as TWI taught us, God wants a relationship! imo
-
Ya Clay, I never quite understood this verse. The only thing I ask is if the "dead in Christ" could be living but 'dead to a relationship with Him" then why do they get raised first? Still pondering.............. bliss oops, i meant the other verse where we He will "bring with him". That I never understood.

Thanks Clay! :)

Mr.Bliss and I were just recently asked by very top leaders, "what can we do to get you to come back?" After a 10 page response of huffing and puffing from me that I had to get off my chest and never sent......... mr.bliss calmly kept a list of about 15 things, and sent it respectively. Do you want to know the response?

I was relieved when I told a bible mentor at our Baptist church that "I don't know about believing the trinity, and that considering where I came from (cult), it was hard for me". She said, "just go to God, and have HIM show you what you need to do, and what He wants you to learn.'' They don't shove it down anyones throat, and personally, I like Jesus being my intersessor for once! -
