Sudo I'm guessing that what with the extra folks along with Steves adventure (the cameraman editor and guide) that his sponsers had a Dr and antivenom nearby. His injuries were probably not expected ( I mean how many times do you hear of a diver getting speared by a stingray?) Me thinks he pushed the limits one too many times and paid the price for it but on the other hand what a good ride he had (and we who share in his adventures and awareness)

I'm sure they do or will. I was a daring kid too Lingo and i sorta relate to his life in a modest been there done that sort of way, he pushed limits I wouldn't have but that is what an explorer does is to push the limits of reality and challenge our thinking. I'm a momma hen too tho and want my junior explorers to have a decent set of skills to cope with such uncertainties and not to face these things unprepared.

All I could think of today was Crickey that hurt! I loved watching Steve talk about and then handle the animals he was telling us about. his philosophy of understanding the animals pov helped solidify a union between us (man) and them (our pets, animals and nature and each other). He showed us just how interesting and compelling nature could be and how much fun it could be if you were willing to step outside normal bondaries and take chances. My most perfect vision of Steve was when he almost got bit by a pet gator and then went on to explain on real tv why it happened

It does John I did a bit of woodworking awhile back and some of the tools I used took on a very real part of my life. I bought alot of woodworking tools over the years but there were only a fw, mainly my gouges and chisels that ended up meaing alot to me, maybe like Willies early tries at the accordian? In any case a few tools meant more to me than the others, like my banger and knocker and long handled deep throated gouge and nova chuck..throughout Willies life that guitars been there, from the mariages and divorces and irs liens maybelles been there :) I'mglad to see he's been faithful

I saw Willie at the Tabernacle Theater in Atl a few years ago, he rocked! Willies guitar is like Willie hisself, a worn but true instrument.

I think most people experience the effects of mental illness in one form or fashion during their lifetime, either with a parent, sibling or close friend. Most of the time we do not talk about it because it's embarassing and shameful so we avoid the issue and move onto more pleasant topics. As part of my healing process I got to talk with a alot of folks with varying degrees of sanity about about their childhood. Some of my therapy pals were regional pharmacy managers, airline pilots and medical drs, others were housewifes, felons and homeless folks or close enuf to force their family to bring them into treatment. Much to what was shared at our therapy sessions stemmed from childhood issues, no matter the income level one thing was clear we all suffer from the affects of mental illness one way or another. I think the ability to talk freely about what is deeply troubling us within a group of trusted peers is helpful for the recovery process however we should be wise in who we consider trusted especially when dealing with the internet and instead seek real longlasting theraputic relationships. I have seen the betrayal of trust far too often online and feel the need to add this caution.

I like it Belle, I remember in the mid 70's when Subaru came out with an outback look alike with two bucket seats in the back with seatbelts no less. I'm glad they came back with the old model, I always thought it was a good looking ride, Congrats and Enjoy :) Mikey

I've owned a few Fords and never had to push the gas tank limit but I have not filled my tank since gas went beyond $2 or so a gallon so I dunno what it would cost to fill my tank but a 20 gallon tank times 3 would cost me $60 to fill so its relevant me thinks.

Did it have moon windows? I never got much of a chance to ride in the back but I hear the view from the back was wonderful. I rode on top when I was in back so I couldn't tell ;)

That makes alot of sense, have it and not need it rather then not have it and need it :) In that case I think I would rather go with a diesel 4 wd unit, maybe a Landrover or Rangerover. I'm not so sold on the truck idea that I can't explore other options like a well built and roomie car, heck I owned and operated the ultimate wowmobile a 68 Old's Vista Cruiser

Tom that is why I'm hoping someone has had experience with a bigger 6 cyl, or a more econonomical 8 or a diesal alternative, I've looked at VW's diesal and I'm still pondering I've looked at alot of campers in my size range and decided I could lighten the load by at least 500 lbs and retrofit it into a more efficient unit but I need to be able to pull it with an economical 6.

My current one, a 4.0 ‘96 Ranger has 250,000 miles on it. My previous truck was a Courier with a Mazda engine and 386,000 miles on it. I’ve also run F450’s and bigger rigs and worked on an old GM diesel plant as part of a sawmill setup. I’m planning on keeping my Ranger as it’s been maintained for the most part by me and I am a bit anal about that BUT I’d like to buy a well built truck that can pull a 28’ camper yet not eat up the gas. I looked at 6’s and mine is about as powerful as they come and I don’t think it will pull A 28 footer through the mountains with any dignity let along power. I looked at 8’s but they drink more gas on a regular day to make my truck worth retrofitting with boosters, air suspension, a nitro kit and a pull chain. I’d like a blend of both, power and economy so any retrofit or mid sized engine that would allow me to pull ahead of traffic on the upslope with my trailer yet not spend a lot on everyday commuting is important. I’ve looked at Cadillac’s 4.6 and while it is interesting the power train isn’t. If you have suggestions I’d like to hear them, I’m about to buy a horse and buggy…

Let it go, the effort to rehabilitate twi will take more energy than it's worth. It would be better for our friends to provide a sustainable retirement for its old timers and maybe get current on whats going on in the real world.

Oh yes then there is the idea I had... Where will these restless kids begin to rebuild twi? One God, two or maybe three? Creation or Evolution or a mix? Devil spirits or Mental Illness?/ Ministring or Professional help? Credability or a joke? I think it would be better for those kids (I'm old ok...) to start addressing basic twi related issues like from whence they came and just why they want to revitalise twi rather than do their own thing

Can TWI be salvaged? NO I haven't read the posts that followed the origional question. I am sure there were abundant reasons why their answer and mine is a resounding NO. IF they WERE to attempt to teach true biblical teachings they'd have to refute a half century of teaching and practice and I doubt they are willing to give up their heratige quite that quickly. Not to mention every one of them would have to give up their seat of power and face reality,their Kharma and unhappy former members. I don't think they are there yet. Mikey

Lets see. in 76 I was asked to drive two twi girls to the region coordinators house after they were found drunk in the washington memorial pool. As I recall they were gonna be charged with public drunk except someone convinced the cops they had been drugged. Apparantly they met up with and witnessed to two navy men and drank some wine, apparantly the wine was laced with stupid drugs and the girls took off their clothes in lincolns pool.

I'm more impressed by the the dude that'll stand on the beach and command the storm away than a shortsighted preacher warning of logical events based on her perceptions of current events.

Wow I have to respect you for how much you suffered being at the corp of weirwilles madness. In was a simple believer and I did similar stupid things like driving from Ft Wayne to DC during the 78 blizzard and setting a pfal class up in a new location in under an hour and making it work. While I respect the corps origional intent I must say that many times what the corp came to do in an area had more to do with edicts from headquarters than the reality on the ground. For the most part you guys were out of touch with reality from the time you hit the ground. In 74 when I was introduced to the way fer the first time I was warned of the corpbots. I think I met Donna for the second time at that meeting, she was quite charming and goal oriented but I saw a touch of dishonesty in her demeanor. I went wow shortly after (75-76) in Knoxville and ran into a bit of way indeciscion when Patty B visted my tc and told her we could continue to fight the local rednecks over having a black man attend twig or move, we moved. From my persepective on being on the ground trying to *do the Werd* you guys were more a hindrence than a help. I hope this helps you put a nice perspective on this debacle.
