  1. Sure Sudo but you were doing such a fine job already :P--> So far there are 3 cabins rented. Two have one bed availble and I think the other has two or three beds left (Zix knows). The camp sites can handle 4 tents so if Cathy and Hawk get one apiece that OUGHT to handle any tenters (unless the whole lot of us show up in which case we take over the park and start our own country ;)--> ). And you think I'm kidding... You really do don't you But until then... Let me know via private topic if you will be needing a space. Now some folks bravely volunteered to cook a few meals for this gathering BEFORE it grew to @ 25 people I think we could have two communal meals, namely Saturday night and Sunday morning. There will be lots to do besides trying to keep up with a watch so I think this simplifies things some. How about a pot luck with the soup chile and stew serving as the foundational principle for estatic farting :D--> I think we'll need to figure out how much food we'll need for this not to mention kitchen help and or multiple kitchens so if you cooks could email me we could set this up. There are stores in Manchester and Shelbyville but I know nothing at all of their hours except they do roll the sidewalks up after dark. OK thats all I got for now... any questions?? be there or be square [This message was edited by herbiejuan on August 17, 2003 at 20:09.]
  2. I've reserved Cabin 10 and still have one bedroom left and plenty of floor space. Hmmmmmmm..........
  3. Yeah Atlanta is NOT a cheap airport to fly into or out of... Zix, mucho thanks for the airport info, I forgot Chattanooga finally got around to paving their grass strip.
  4. Hey Hope, Knoxville Airport seems to be the closest one to Tims Ford, from what I gather they've replaced the wind sock with a real live person And ummm yes the leaves will/ought to/should (take your pick) be changing about that time. I've got a cabin reserved and there is at this time one room with two beds available, fcfs... Mikey
  5. What we got so far... Chile fer dinner n mebbe some of Hawks World Famous Stew... Sausage n Biscuits n Gravy for breakfast... Gotta have some sort of lunch stuff for Sat and Sun so I'll pick up some burgers n dogs n buns fer that. Man it sure sounds like some good eats, sure am glad I"M going. :D--> Should we take care of our own chips n drinks? Paw I saw that Hmmm ;)--> Mikey
  6. The chocolate biscuits were quite good actually, just couldn;t gather up the nerve to smother them in sausage n gravy If you do a search on Tennessee State Parks you will find the TSP website from there you can navigate to Tims Ford and see what the place looks like. Currently there is one cabin reserved and most beds taken, campsites are on a first come first served basis but last year there were plenty of sites available all weekend. You will need to think through yer food as the nearest restaurant is 7 miles away and their menu selection is rather limited. There are grills and firepits and of course the cabins have kitchens so perhaps we could coordinate a breakfast n dinner thang or two depending on who wants to bring what. Hawk??? you still got the fixings for deer stew?
  7. Greetings fair and noble G'spotters It has come to my attention (short term memory loss not withstanding) that we are in dire need of another weenie roast. Therefore... We will be holding the next one at... Drum roll please! More drums please :P--> Tims Ford State Park (same place as last time) in middle Tennessee! It will be Sept 19th (late evening) through the 21st Tims Ford is a lovely lakeside park (big lake) with ample tent camping RV hookups and several REALLY nice cabins that can sleep 8 VERY easily and more with sleeping bags. There is fishing, boating and trails not to mention deer, rabbits and other assorted wild critters (Hawk swears he saw bigfoot taking a dump but I think it may of been the wild turkey he put in his stew :D--> ) Anyways come if you can we had a great time last year and if you have any questions you can private topic me fer more details. Mikey
  8. My hats off to you and Joan, it is cool to hear that your love for each other is strong.
  9. I'd like to post a few pics of some woodturnings I've done on the hobby thread but they aren't stored anywhere online. I've got them on a disk however, any tips? suggestions? ideas? Mikey [This message was edited by herbiejuan on May 04, 2003 at 8:15.]
  10. Thank you very much guys for the info I requested. I've downloaded 3 songs so far, mostly Stones tunes and one Cocker tune all of which I own already on vinyl. Since this venue considers what I did file sharing and so far the courts have agreed, I'll rest well tonight knowing that the cyber cops won't be knocking on my door anytime soon. -->
  11. I've been playing around with Kazaa.com's site and downloaded several tunes that I'd like to put on a cd. I tried to send them to the cd but it says i can't (albiet in different terms). Sooooo..... My question is, how do I do this? Many thanks in advance, Mikey
  12. OMG!!! I forgot it twas your Birthday, I'm glad you had a great one and had the kids by your side to enjoy it with! Mike
  13. This Saturday, April 12th is the Greasespots Official 3rd Anniversary! :)--> Many Kudo's to you fine folks who have made this site a safe haven where we can share our experience strength and hope and have together (despite our differences) overcome the oppression that became a way of life for many of us affiliated with that cornfield cult in Ohio. As a participant in this place for some time, I have seen lots of tears and laughter, heated debates and arguments and lots n lots of good old B.S. but through it all, somehow, we've managed to get the truth out about the way and by doing so opened the doors of deliverance to thousands. My hats off to Paw (and his litle elves too ) for their patience and fortitude in dealing with all the annoying annoyances that most certainly have been a part of running this site. My hats off to you who have taken the time to write and respond to these threads and most expecially those who opened their lives and hearts to those who were in dire need of a friend with an ear (and heart) to listen. Mike
  14. Wowsers another 29th birthday??? Hope it is a glorious one fer ya Mikey
  15. Happy Happy Birthday to ya Kathy! Yer what 29 now? Many more 29's to ya girl Mikey
  16. Hey anybody have any idea where this guy got off to post twi? He lived in the SF bay area during the 80's. Any help will help (oddly enuf :D--> ) Mikey
  17. She just nibbles around the edges some :D-->
  18. I like that idea about raising worms, they are quiet, don't require much space and above all work for less than minimum wage :D--> Soap making is an easily learned craft whereby one can turn $10 worth of materials into $30+ worth of goods depending on the local market. Millersoap.com has instructions with lots of different recipies faq's and links. Several retired folks that came into the farmers market did so to suppliment their income and have a good time in the process. I am fairly certain a few actually did, it went well and did good for it's first year and most of them are coming back next year. A NC farmer, Alex Hitt grows on 5 acres and does exceptionally well, his info is on the web. Residential window cleaning is a good gig too, practice first on you and your friends houses, make sure you know how to avoid knocking over stuff in the home and get some experience taking in and out storm windows (aka SuperWindowMans Kryptonite). I know some cleaners that make REAL good $ doing this (with a couple of years experience and reputation behind them) and as long as the economy is sputtering along like it is there are people who will pay to have this done once or twice a year, Sooooooooo...all you aging RC folks ought to dust off those old squeegies or check out the janitorial section at HD ;)--> and see what you can come up with :D--> Gutter cleaning, yard work, pet sitting (didn't that already get mentioned?). Oh yeah...simple home repairs. One common complaint I hear (and get requests for) is the difficulty of finding someone to do small simple home repairs. From replacing a piece of sheetrock to painting a closet to hanging and taking back down Xmas lights, homeowners have a hard time finding someone to do these things. I own a 150 yr old house and learned quite a bit about plumbing, electricity (it bites ) carpentry, roofing restoration work etc so you might have to set down with a pen and paper and try and make a list of what skills you've got and go from there. Anyways hope this helps, personally I am going to hang onto what business I have, streamline it some and finish up my education and explore this E.D. position G.O. is having difficulty filling (me thinks a leadership training course this spring may be on the agenda too, twi's consensus thinking and dictatorial edicts did little to help me in this regard) Oh yeah almost forgot, there are still grants and such for people who go to college, perhaps taking advantage of this would assist someone upgrade their marketable skills and provide some extra $ for living expenses to boot, might be worth looking into if say one parent is working and the other's been thinking of getting that degree they never got because of involvement with a certain cult... Anyways Happy Day!!
