This is from my textbook: DSM-IV-TR Criteria for Pedophilia: Over a period of six months, recurrent, intense, sexualy arousing fantasies, sexual urges or behaviors involving sexual activity with a prepubescent child or children (generally 13 yrs of age or younger). The fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors cause clinicaly significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning The person is at least 16 yrs of age and at least 5 yrs older than the child or children in criterion A Note Do not include an individual in late adolescence invovled in an ongoing sexual relationship with a 12 or 13 yr old. Specify if attracted to: Males Females Both Specify if Limited ti Incest Specify type: Exclusive Non Exclusive And yes teenaged girls can act slutty but if it's a prepubescent child behaving that way, start digging, somethings up. I have had two girls, both prepubescent make sexually suggestive moves towards me. In one case the mom told me that her daughter had been over at a friends house and gone online cam to cam with a boy they met. Once mom found out about it, her n her brother (a deputy sherrif) paid him and his parents a visit. They now moniter her activities a lot more. In the other instance it was revealed later that a neighbor had been routinely molesting the neighborhood kids. He is dead now.

My teacher made a really big deal out of this, saying that most of us would be counseling pedophiles throughout their careers. She also said that statisticly there are more who do not act out with a child (fantasizing or stealing underwear) that commit the act. and MJ I agree the other side of town would be prone to staying quiet about the problem, if not totally ignoring it.

Its nice to be able to accept oneself for what one really is, to be able to look in the mirror and see the good the bad and the ugly and accept that it is indeed a part of what makes each one of us who we are. I think manytimes folks judge others based on fear (for starters) and a delusional sense of self righteousness which on closer inspection reveals many of the same traits we find disgusting or distastefull in others.

We had quite an interesting discussion in my abnormal psych class about this last week. I think posting pics lulls folks into a false sense of security. Many times (as evidenced by the ongoing RC scandel) child molesters remain undiscovered, sometimes for their whole lives. Often times these people seek out and hold positions that place them in close contact with children (teachers, ministers, rec dept employees) and use their authority and implied power to silence or shame their victims. So to think that those three men (or women) are the only perps in the neighborhood is delusional. Looking at it from a clinical pov many perps were themselves subjected to either sexual or physical abuse and are repeating the cycle. From this pov then it seems they are only *going as far as they were taught*. From a clinical pov while there is no *cure* there are some new treatment options (mainly CBT) that show some results in ending the cycle of abuse and while this does not mitigate the crime they committed it does lend hope that this sickness can be stopped to one extent or another.

But be that as it may, I suppose I should make it clear that any decision to close this site due to the hassle of dealing with challenged posters who enjoy wasting the moderators time with mindless drivel lays with me and not paw. AS you may know (or not) I am the benevolant dictator bent on world domination and conquest therefore all decisions dealing with closing this site down end up on my desk whereupon I ponder quite specifically the details of said proposal and then either veto it or agree to it (depending on which star rises first in the east). It then passes on to my able assistants (the tooth fairy and 7 dwarfs) who go over the plan with a fine tooth comb (to remove the nits) whereupon it goes to my secretary Colin Powell who types it up in triplicate for the GSC boards approval. I think it is a question of needs and wants. Some groups use a bare minimun of income to fund administration costs, others eat up any and all funding and use little for the work at hand which sometimes leads to indictments and headlines. A group like derway, providing as they do a minimum of member support should be quite capable of running itself with a staff of at most 20 people for the 5000 or so active members (who are doing most of the work for free anyways). I suspect most of derways overhead goes towards maintaining an infrastructure that isn't needed anymore.

My impressions of the roast are thus: It was great to actually be awake and get to chat with folks more than at past events. There is a sort of catching up going on as we shared our own versions of spiritual growth and simply enjoyed each others company. We've known each other for near on 3 yrs now and have shared in each others joys and sadness and that is what makes the roast unique (IMO). A year to catch up and visit, see how we're doing and how the kids have grown, to actually physicalize (?) the GS experience. In other words hanging out n shooting the shi+ can be fun sometimes :D--> In terms of what makes the roast work, heck just pick a spot n a date n see what interst ya garmer up, seems that a east coast thing could be held a bit further north and close by an interstate (I-75) and near enuf an E/W corridor to make driving simpler. I think we need to get Cathy a cabin all her own and maybe arrange to lose her kids at walmart for a day or two (somehow I think she'd notice). Any idears on spots?
