  1. Jumping through the *hoops* at GSC Radio! ;)
  2. I've got a dumb question here. Am I talking about the same thing you all are?? Rise and Expansion (from what I know), was all about the *eight great statements*. The first *great statement* was Acts 2:47. Did lcm change everything in the book, versus the class he used to teach??
  3. Hey Rocky --- Happy Father's Day! (P.S. --- take Garth's advice and mellow out with a cold one or two!
  4. Barry Abernathy, now with the group Mountain Heart has no fingers on his left hand. Listen to him pick ---- :)
  5. For what it's worth -- MG did take (if I recollect correct), a leave of abscence for a while, to pursue a degree at Earlham College. :)
  6. Larry -- don't know if you've seen it or not, but David Anderson wrote a book about Acts (copyrighted in 1989), and can be found in it's entirety on the web. The title is The Two Ways Of The First Century Church. He encourages folks to copy it from his site, if they want the book. It's an interesting take on the book of acts. Click the title above, to get there. P.S. -- David Anderson used to post here at GSC, and (I think) was in the A/V department with twi way back in the early days.
  7. Was one of the vows ----- "I promise to remain calm, while she has the Mic on the right side of the Hall?" (Hey -- congrats!!)
  8. I don't. But then again -- even though some of twi's stuff is analyzed and found on the web, it's usually docvic's stuff versus lcm's that you find. It's not a burning interest to me as to what others think (or say) about twi publications, but I have looked occassionally for various things. I never read the book, though I did sit through the *class* with him teaching the Rise and Expansion (the eight great statements) a couple of times. I've still got the syllabus here with the notes I took, and though it's been a while since I've looked at it -- I have always considered it an interesting read. Whether or not the *eight great statements* are true, it's intresting to see the correlation of the greek words used in specific areas there in Acts. Lcm isn't (imo) spewing *crap* (like he did with the original sin theory). Again -- he may be right, he may be wrong. As I said -- it's an interesting thing to think about. Food for thought, something to chew on mentally. :)
  9. http://www.grandmonceau.com/ Wow!! Nice digs!! (PS -- the music was beautiful, and I'm NO fan of opera). :)
  10. That's not a limerick. Limericks have the: A A B B A format of rhyme. Here's an example: Jonny found sincere provocation, at the liquor store's check out station. Seeing *Made in Vagina*, on a t-shirt it kinda, Made him want to start pontificating.

    BAD NEWS

    prayers here too. ((Mo))
  12. KoffeeKups -- Hey there. Welcome to GreaseSpot Cafe. :) Yes -- there is such a site. Click HERE to find folks. Cortright's site gives you the option of clicking on the map (to find believers in a given area), or clicking on a flag to find them in a different country, Live links provided for the above --- and --- an alphabetical believer e-mail list below all that. Just click on the first letter of the last name of the person you want to locate. They may or may not be there (on that site and it's listing), but many folks from the past are. Ps -- which twi were you in?? 1, 2, or 3??? Reason I ask -- is that I was in twi-1, and if you were in twi-3, I don't know how many names of your compadres would be there. But regardless -- good luck, and happy hunting! ;)
  13. Can't remember back that far. :) First *real job* was working at an auto parts store. Then I worked a factory job at Otis Elevator. Quit that to do missionary work in Italy. Have had some interesting ones since. ;)

    Another Accent Test

Heh heh -- It's not. But there is a DISTINCTIVE southern accent amongst the natives. Mostly down in the southern part of the state, and not predominant at all in the northern parts. Beats me where it came from, but it's certainly there.:)

    Inkblot Test

I didn't choose one of their *suggestions* for that question, so I didn't complete it, and it wouldn't give my reults. :) (Almost everthing looked like *none of the above* to me.)
  16. To what extent have you been brainwashed? You have overcome most brainwashing! Way to go! You don't trust many people and you don't care about what other people think of you. And you use logic when making decisions. Click Here to Take This QuizBrought to you by YouThink.com quizzes and personality tests. :)

    Another Accent Test

Ps --- I was born in Terre Haute. Granted I never grew up there, but I stop there all the time (on trips back to see the folks in Indiana), since they seem to have the best prices for gasoline.) :) They may have a *hoosier twang*, but the REALLY strong southern accent is further south, and especially over in the Illinois, Missouri area. :)

Terre Haute's accent is NOTHING, compared to the southernmost part of the state!! :P
  19. HA! That reminds me of a stow-ry I heard once about young ladies in a high school, who went to the bathroom, did their business, then put on lipstick and *kissed the mirror*, leaving an imprint of their lips, there on the glass. (This may be true, and then again it may not be -- but it shows ingenuity on the part of the Principal of the school if it is). He corralled a bunch of the young lady students, gave them a lecture about lipstick on the mirrors, then took them into the ladies room, accompianied by the school janitor. The Principal continued his *talk*, and then said --- "FYI --- this is how the mirrors here at *** High School are cleaned." Where upon he motioned to the school janitor, who --- took a toilet bowl brush, and thoughly cleaned a toilet or two, then without rinsing the toilet bowl brush, proceeded to vigourously clean the mirrors, right above the sinks. Problem solved!!
  20. Hey there Sushi. Saw this earlier today, but didn't respond in time. So my wishes for *your day* will have to be *belated*! Regardless ---
  21. Rules posted in a local pool hall here in town : 1.) Ball caps may be worn while indoors; 2.) Bill of the cap may be worn forward or backwards; 3.) Bills of the cap may NOT be worn sideways; 4.) PANTS MUST BE BELTED ABOVE THE WAIST; 5.) Swearing will ONLY be tolerated, if a bad shot was taken; 6.) If you are in doubt, refer to rules #1 through #5. THE MANAGEMENT. :)
  22. Ya learn something new every day!!! :P
  23. Hiya sprawled out. :) Perhaps an *assumption* was made about *folks like you all*, but I'm thinking it was a valid one. Given the track record that GSC posting has concerning CES, it's not hard to discern. Personally -- I think it was an accurate statement/ observation. Not trying to denigrate what you said --- but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where most of GS posters stand, concerning CES. ;)

    Another Accent Test

What American accent do you have? (Best version so far)Midland ("Midland" is not necessarily the same thing as "Midwest") The default, lowest-common-denominator American accent that newscasters try to imitate. Since it's a neutral accent, just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from the Midland. Click Here to Take This QuizBrought to you by YouThink.com quizzes and personality tests. (Same results as on The other version here) Still sound like a Hoosier, even after 30 years abscence. :)
