  1. Heh heh heh! I'll quit fiddling around, when you stop keeping things light!! (Not denigrating anyone here -- but the word is AVATAR.) ;) And (sadly) -- due to arthritic fingers, I will continue to *fiddle around*, as much as I can. My days are limited, but I had fun while they lasted. :)
  2. My suggestion is --- forget the twi toilet paper. Take your ABS money, and convert it to one dollar bills. Here's what those one dollar bills are made of --- Make sure your ABS dollars are stored in the bathroom, for use as needed -- put them in a sealed baggie (after used), and faithfully *deposit* them in the next horn-o-plenty. :) Not only will you be doing your @$$ a favour (by using cotton and linen) instead of cheap stuff, you'll send a biblical message to the twi ORG ---- "Y'all reap what you sow". Gives a whole new meaning to *stinking ABS*. (EFS)
  3. Herbiejuan!! How's classes doing??; How's the garden doing??; and How's you doing?? :)
  4. Speeking abowt speeling, I HAYTE it when I see it dunn pourly in a post. Barr nun!! Seriously -- concerning this part of the thread --- for those who can (or try) to spell correctly, it IS a bit disconcerting to see words spelled erroneously. With that being said --- Jean made a valid point (though it didn't add to the thread content as pertains to topic), and certainly could have stated it more gracefully. Other's castigated her for being *rude*. Well -- perhaps so. But where was the *gentle admonition* from *those castigators*, when answering to her?? I might have missed it, but I didn't see any. Nother words -- both sides could use a little work. :) Personally -- I *cringe* when I see someone spell *ridiculous* as *rediculous*, but I don't let that get in the way of my trying to understand what they want to say. I would never *call out a person* because of their spelling, but I have PM'ed some folks about the way they spelled certain words. NOT trying to be Speeling Poleece or anything, just a friendly tip, and it's always been appreciated. Shucks -- I used to spell MAYBE, as MABEY -- and REGARDLESS as REGUARDLESS. I think it was LG who pm'ed me, and told me how WRONG those two words looked to him! I remain forever grateful for his advice, and correction. So why do we need an ex-twi site?? Waysider said it best --- :) :) :)
  5. I'm surprised this isn't in the Soap Opera section by now.
  6. Here's hoping you had a good one!! :)
  7. My opinion??? I think John is right. (see the BOLDED part of his quote) :)
  8. :offtopic: That reminded me of a joke I once heard ----- When asked how she wanted to die, the matronly woman thought a bit and then replied, "I'd like to die peacefully in my sleep like Grandpa did, and NOT screaming and kicking like the passengers in his car!". :o
  9. Hopefully -- the cops will have to *bite the bullet* on this one, because of what they did --- Anyone else see a problem with what was quoted above??? Anyone else see where drugs were involved in this here??? Is there a reason why THIS particular car needs to go to D.A.R.E. events?? Hmmmmm. Hmmmmmm. (COUGH!!) Anyone??? Sorry, but I sure don't. Speed, yes -- but as Garth mentioned -- NOT the drug. ;) Any lawyer worth his salt (using this defense), would win it in no time flat. (No time flat = 127 mph in a 35 mph speed court zone!!) Personally -- I hope the local department (or whomever made this decision), get's their DUE, for taking this guy's car, AND MISREPRESENTING IT AS A DRUG RELATED DEAL. Sorry -- but that is my imo. These cops in Plainfield (regardless of how diligent they may be), have transcended the law, and have taken it into their own hands, by mis-interpretting the law for their own gain, and then compounding that *problem* (if you will), when they declared the impounded vehicle to be a new DARE vehicle, when the confiscation of that vehicle had NOTHING to do with the DARE program. How DARE they?????? Give me a break here. Jail the driver, and while we're at it -- jail the cops too. Right now --- I don't know who is the more guilty of the two!
  10. Mine is one of the most famous/ recognizeable fiddles in the world, seriously. It belonged to Vassar Clements, a great jazz/ fusion/ bluegrass fiddler. For a brief moment in time, back in the early 1970's --- I had it all to myself. Vassar and his band came to town to play a gig at a local bar/ music venue. I had seen pics of his fiddle, and when they took their first break of the evening, I went up to him and asked him about it. He and I talked a bit about it, and then he said (and I QUOTE!!) : "Here. Take a look at it. I need to get a drink!" With that statement, he handed me both his fiddle, and his bow, and headed to the bar!!! That wouldn't happen these days, but back then there was more trust (or something). So -- he went to the bar, and left me holding a fiddle (probably) made by: GASPAR DUIFFOPRUGCAR (which) if it is an original, was made over 500 years ago. This has not been proven unequivically, but the antiquity of that violin has scholars agreeing that it is at least 300 years old, and *probably* older. Yea. You bet I *plunked* on it. I felt unworthy, but it was something I had to do!! :D He (Vassar) came back from the bar after a bit, and re-claimed the thing. Never saw him again in concert, after that night. Heard him many a time on the radio, and on records/ and cd's. He never played any other fiddle than the one he gave to me to look at, that night back in the 1970's, in Indiana, at a bar, while he went to get a drink. Sadly -- Vassar passed away in 2005. This is the back of that fiddle --- Here's a pic of the front of it --- I chose the peghead for my avatar, because it looks a bit like I do, and is my tribute to a man who helped shape the world of music --- as I know it.
  11. Dooj -- HERE'S THE LINK, so you don't have to go back to page 1 to find it.
  12. Dooj -- It's in Illinois. I gave the link to (one) of the blogs I found about it, in the post just below the picture I posted of the car (as it now is). Imo -- the *local finest* are over-stepping their bounds. :) (EFS)
  13. Abi -- you make a good point about the drunk drivers. The only problem I see about that issue versus this one (and I'm NOT arguing with you) :) is that the local police, courts, etc., (all over the country) DON'T enforce the DUI laws to the limit (as well they should, especially since there are so many repeat offenders). One of the things that irritates me about this is, this guy is getting FINALITY concerning his car, and all the repeat DUI guys, are getting *AMBIGUOUS* sentences. (Jails are too crowded these days -- let's let them out on their own recognizance) Would that the cops, courts, etc., show this same FINALITY to the DUI crowd, as they are showing to this other guy who also broke the law, but had some eye candy mounted on 4 wheels while doing so. Yes -- this man should go to jail. Yes -- he should have driving privilidges revoked. Yes -- he should receive a hefty fine. (I once got a speeding ticket for 22 mph over the limit (on an interstate highway), and that was a $285.00 fine I had to pay. Can't imagine what his might be.) I dunno. Seems like a double standard going on here, but like I said -- I need to read up more on this confiscation thing. (EFS)
  14. Hiya Groucho! :) So far -- I haven't said ANYTHING about my opinion on this. The above was a quote from some blog that I found when I googled the story. I think I gave the link to the site, just below the quote. Cars like that are made for speed, but I agree -- NOT IN TOWNS OR NEIGHBORHOODS! Take it out on the open road, or something, if you want to do 127 mph. He definitely should have a punishment like -- ohhhh - sayyyy-- a 5 year driver's license suspension, but allowed to drive back and forth to work in the meantime --- in a Yugo! By the way, regardless of my opinion on this, this story did pique my interest about the confiscation issue. Conservation police do this all the time to hunters, that they had *caught* in some violation or other. Guns, vehicles, personal property can be *confiscated* for minor infractions. I need to read up more about the subject, but this story seems to take it to another level entirely. EFS (Edited For Spelling).
  15. Looks like they didn't get it for *free* though. (from THIS SITE
  16. And --- if you take a look at his site, he has documentation from EARLY (1st, 2nd, etc.,) editions of some of twi's books, that you (and I) don't see in our later copies/ editions of how words were edited out, giving docvic the *authorship* of the premise talked about and effectively naming him the *researcher who discovered all this stuff*. P.S. --- When I first got a computer 3 or so years ago, His site was one of the first I ran across, when I looked up twi. It was empire.net, and NoWayOut, that led me to Greasespot.
  17. Hey there Oak! Happy birthday!! This one's for you and if you have any friends over to celebrate, tell them to bring their own!!
