I've always wanted to go to Galax, Va for the "Fiddler's Gathering". I guess it's gotten bigger, and bigger as the years have gone by. Now they have all sorts of events there, including band contests.. Here's a clip from this year's band contest. YIKES!!! <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw_wQHq_XE8?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw_wQHq_XE8?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw_wQHq_XE8?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

I used to have the address of a person from (location will be left unmentioned) who has all of vpw's teachings on CD. All of them, from SNS tapes. If I recollect the price was around 80 bucks. I was offered the chance to buy them. I declined. Nuggets of truth there (to be sure), but not enough "nuggets" to make it worthwhile. And - - - all those "nuggets" came from someone/ somewhere else. I don't support (any more) plagiaristic "teachers".
-
well - - - Shucks. We were "being taught the Word, as it hadn't been known since the 1st century". None of us (then) expected anything less.
-
I've got a (pretty much) complete set of SNS tapes, from 1975 to 1986 (thereabouts). EVERY SNS tape promoted twi, and it's "superiority" when it came to "biblical teaching". It was NOT unusual for twi to denigrate others, to gain their own "superiority" regardless of topic.

Agreed. I have an affinity for SIT (these days), that I didn't have back in "the day". The above post was a "tongue in cheek" joke. A bad one perhaps/ but tongue in cheek "joke" none-the-less. SIT means more to me (also) now than it did back during twi daze. It's more of a reality than twi ever taught it to be. I know there's several (maybe many) here that feel it to be false/ old wine/ coerced indoctrination/ etc. Cool. Fine. Whatever floats your boat. Some folks think that man never went to, or stood on the moon. I don't argue with them either. "Someone convinced against their will - - - - - -" (fill in the blank). Adding to the actual topic at hand here (familiar spirits) - - - Yes. I remember docvic teaching that they (familiar spirits) were those that were "familiar with the person". If i recollect correct, the verse he used was I Samuel 28: 7 ff. I could be wrong about that though. No - - now that I think about it, I'm not. He taught that in one-of-his-many-classes-but-don't-ask-me-which-one. It was most likely PFAL 77/ or AC 1979. Shucks - - - It might have been in the original pfal, for all I know. Anyone got a copy of the class, or the books? I don't.

Was that him, or the drambuie talking.

Musicians too. "Hey, hey, hey. How Y'all dooooooing tonight!!!??? If you've got any song requests, Write em on the back of a 50 dollar bill, and send em right on up to the stage!"

Paul After Jerusalem Arrest

Here's something for you to peruse, teach. :) http://my.en.com/~anders/intro.html Have fun. It's by GSC's own David Anderson. It's free to print off to "make it your own". -
Never made it inside that auditorium myself. The one time I tried to, I was denied access. It was at ROA 85. I'd made no donations for the building thereof, and I was leaving twi then anyway, so it was no skin off of my nose. As far as I'm concerned, it's a "whited sepulcher". Clean looking on the outside, but inside - - - ??? I didn't see AOS until 2 or 3 years later, when JAL was wandering around the country and showed it here in Minney-soda. He was on one of his trips promoting the (then somewhat new) CES. I'd been invited to a "public ex" he was doing there. He showed up at a River Road Fellowship (hosted by Vic Barnard), and played the video for those in attendance. I remember thinking (about AOS once I'd seen and heard it) - - - "What a dark/ dark/ DARK presentation this is"! I hated the subject matter/ I hated the music/ the overall feeling (once done) was completely depressing. And the prez of twi had the "leading role" in that production. How fitting.

Pursuing a personal dream? To quote Excie - - - "hahahahhahhaahahaha"! NOT AVAILABLE! It's the word, the word, and NOTHING but the - - - - well, you get the picture.
-
GsG - - - They wouldn't let you carry it on board?? Something like that should easily fit in an overhead compartment. edited to add - - - that's smaller than a banjo case, and those fit overhead. Hmmmmm.

Who knows what his mind was thinking? Or was it?

Raising "Holy Hands to the Lord"?? Nawwwwww.

This is something I missed from page 1 from this thread. Imo - - - U of L was just one more "caste system" in the twi hierarchy. Oh sure, I was a part of it and didn't understand that at the time, but that's neither here nor there (now). If you were a part of the U of L, you had "special status". Not the same as Corps, but close to it since you had access to their "teachings". Along with the tapes, you got a gold name tag with your name under the U of L designation imprinted upon it. It was (imo) one more way to extract money from (yet) another "untapped" crowd there in twi that was "lurking in the wings" waiting to be recognized/ wanting to hear teachings/ and get "special credit" for it. Can't go Corps? Don't wanna go Corps? Successful in your chosen occupation? We've got the ticket for YOU! "Learn the ABUNDANCE of the Way Corps teaching, in the COMFORT OF YOUR OWN HOME". Their audacity knew no bounds.

Sorry about that JJ, Leeches are pretty common up here in Minney-soda. The variety we have up here are mostly found in lakes/ swimming areas/ etc. Not usually found behind a pulpit in a church, but it's been known to happen.

Mueller WAS the man he knew to be, NOT the man he wished he "knew to be" (like docvic's tombstone reads). I thank God for TRUE men of God, not charlatans. I can't EVER imagine docvic saying the above quote of George Mueller.

You know - - - Now that I think about it, I think I do. It's here somewhere around the house (no idea where though). Back to topic - - - - I'd already "done my year" when docvic wanted "4 Grand To Stand". Once was enough for me. I've no clue how many went WOW in 78/ 79 , but we lost quite a few during that year here in Mn. And no, we didn't lose them to the long/ cold winter here either. They left pretty quickly. Perhaps it's to OUR credit, that weren't 4,000 of us willing to be a part of the "4,000" that year. Maybe folks were "smartening up by then"? I don't know. For those of you who DID go that year, it was most likely like my one and only year "on the field". Interesting at best and dismal at worst, and glad to be "done with it" at the end of the year. (edited for spelling)

Who'd a thunk (back in the 1970's) to doubt the story of the "India Mission"? Especially in a "bible class"? No "search engines" then. No computers or WWW. I guess you just had to take the MOG at his word, eh? Snow on the gas pumps/ closed airport/ bright lights at PFAL filming/ and "miracles" on that trip to India??? All that and more leads me to honestly believe that docvic made ONE true statement, which was: twi headquarters is located on the original Wierwille farm there in New Knoxville, Ohio. But given everything else he said, even that might be considered suspect, eh? Probably not, since the family name WAS painted on the top of the barn. What a long, strange trip it's been. (edited to add - - - Thank you skyrider for those links. Shedding new light (maybe old light to some) but it's NEW LIGHT to this generation.

About 15 years ago, I was at an open stage/ coffeehouse to listen to some friends of mine play. They did an old Beatles song acoustic style, and some college kids at the table next to me said (and I quote): "Wasn't that song written by Paul McCartney with that group he was in before Wings??" Suddenly, I felt old.

Q.) What's the difference between a banjo and an onion? A.) No one cries, when you cut up a banjo. Q.) What's the difference between a trampoline and a banjo? A.) You take off your shoes to jump on the trampoline. Q.) Dropping a banjo and a set of bagpipes from the top of a 10 story building, which lands first? A.) Who cares? Q.) Is the viola really bigger than the violin? A.) No. The violinist's head is bigger, making it seem that way. Q.) How does Pavarotti change a light bulb? A.) He doesn't. He just holds it up, and lets the world revolve around him. I never should have looked at this thread. I've got a TON of these jokes!

As far as pertains "Biblical Research", docvic was a "leech", biting the hand that "fed him".
