Hmmmmmmm. And the saying is ???????? What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas OJ should too. In jail. :)

I've tried a lot of things in my time, that I just couldn't hack. :( ;)

Jim -- TOMMYZ is right. That's a mandolin, not a guitar. :) And yes -- it is tuned just like the fiddle/ violin is. If you hold it in your lap, and look at the strings (going from left to right), the strings are tuned G D A E. The fiddle has 4 strings tuned to that pitch. The mandolin has 2 each of the G D A E strings, thus the eight tuners you see there. TOMMY -- sorry this thread got derailed, but I do have one more thing to add. ;) There is an entire *mandolin family* that corresponds to the *violin family*. violin ---- mandolin... tuned to GDAE viola ---- mandola..... tuned to CGDA cello ---- mandocello. tuned to CGDA bass ---- mandobass.. tuned to EADG The difference between the violin family, and the mandolin family is --- the violin family of instruments are played with bows. The mandolin family of instruments are played with picks. From the 1880's to the 1920's, Mandolin orchestras were hugely popular. Mando-Fever swept the country, with co-mando orchestras, cashing in on it! Personally -- I don't like the sound of a lot of mandolins together. They sound (to me), like a bunch of electric staple guns stuck on full auto! Here's all 4 mandolin family instruments together: (Left to right) Mandolin - Gibson F-4, ca. 1920 Mandola - Gibson H-2, 1917 Mandocello - Gibson K-4, 1924 Mandobass - Gibson, 1929 And a pic of a mandolin orchestra *back in the day*: Tommy -- again -- sorry for the de-rail. Here's hoping your gig goes well. (edited for a speeling errur)

Comedy (on demand) from a 33 1/3 rpm Vinyl disc. Where DID the good times go, eh???

I guess I'm trying too hard to be *PC* here. I thought Greenhouse had to do with Gas, not Glass. ;)
-
Flaming??? One of our own here at GSC posted this tidbit on another board. :) (Names have been deleted to protect the guilty!!!)

Hmmmmmm.

A little too far for me to come to, but I'd love to hear your band. :) Last time I played for a dance, I took these with me ----- (Here's hoping fun is had by all!)

I agree with Dooj. (And thank you Dot for *sticking up for me*.) I quit talking to Larry when I made a few (honest) comments, and got *reamed* for daring to suggest he was wrong/ misinformed/ whatever. My questions/ observations/ analogies were sincere, and without malice. The response I got was the antithesis of what I expected. So -- to make a long story short -- I'm ignoring the guy. :) I don't give a ratzzz azz what he may (or may not) say from now on. He had his chance, and blew it. Big time. Although sounding human (on the DeCaffinated thread) about himself, it's a shame he can't do likewise on other threads in different forums. Someone who spits venom and poison on many threads, yet is kind and docile on another thread, merely tells me he is being *charmed* on the one about himself. Life is too short to deal with egomaniacs. Online or off. :)

Yup. Rules and Regs as far as *requirements* were kinda glossed over. I think you're right. Numbers was what counted (for that class). I could be wrong -- but the push was on for any and all to attend.

One of the folks from Australia (an ex-JW board I'm on), posted this several weeks ago. He was amazing then, and is amazing now!!! Truely wonderful to see such a humble man, with such an incredible talent. :)

I would add some comments here -- but it would relegate this thread to the politcal forum. <_< <_<

I blew off Geer like so much *smoke on the water* when I heard him teach --- "If ya wanna walk on water, practice with puddles". Yes -- I have a tape of him saying that. What BS. Sorry - but when he made that statement ---- He lost ALL credibility with me.

That book wasn't *required reading* for AC 79.

Great clip!! (Ebn --) I didn't catch the last line either, from Jeremy.

HA!!!!! George -- I was thinking of the exact same song!

Boy ---was THAT ever edifying!! <_< Kinda reminds me of other (cough!!) individuals who have *devotees*, that will praise them to no ends, regardless of deeds done, eh?? ;)
