Alan Munde (and band) playing POWDER CREEK.

I may be FORCED to come to Texas. This banjo resides a mere 200 miles from Ex10. And it's for sale. I've got a serious case of BAS happening here (Banjo Aquisition Syndrome). :)
-
Sudo -- here's hoping you have a good one. :) (Psst -- now it's YOUR turn to click on the rainbow for a *greeting*). :)

(IMO) --- as far as the class goes -- he first started lying when he said: "I hauled 3,000 theological works to the town dump (Gehenna), and started reading the Bible only." (my paraphrase). He mighta, coulda, *did done that* -- but the phrase "I read the Bible only", is both blatantly erroneous, and an outright lie, captured on film, and probably in print too. (I'm too lazy to look it up in my books here.) If he hauled ANY books to the town Gehenna (as he put it), he certainly saved a few, from which he plagiarized freely and copiously, with complete impunity, if not immunity. Docvic got caught. Quoting scripture in the beginning of pfal --- good start. Claiming that was his SOLE point of reference --- big mistake. There's too many folks smarter than he, who can dig up skeletons, and lay the bones at his doorstep.

Hey there CowGirl -- just getting this greeting in under the wire. :) (Click the Rainbow for some *Mandolin Mood Music*). No -- I can't pick this well either, but it sure is fun to listen to!! ;) Here's hoping your day was a good one.

Worthy of being re-posted. Personally -- I think this to be as civil of a reply as one could hope to expect for. :) (edited to add the second *as* in the last sentence! I KNEW it shoulda been there!!)

Deja Shoes ---- walking a mile in them, I remember why I got rid of them the first time. 4.) Deja Ooze ---- Wasn't I immersed in this before??? 5.) Deja Clues ---- didn't I see these warning signs on the path to Deja Ooze? 6.) Deja Crews ---- Wasn't the first time I signed up for the corps like this? 7.) Deja Two's --- Oh No!! He's on my crew AGAIN!!! 8.) Deja Spews --- recollection of numbers 3 through 7.

Garth -- you need to learn to read what (is written) that you quote, before making statements to the contrary, that negate what you quoted. :) (Ps -- I said one thing -- and after quoting it, you assumed I said something else).

I would hope that they would retain this one from the Blue "Sing Along The Way" book: Please turn to number 45, in your Sing Along the Way book --- (Dorothy?? Rhoda??) #45 HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN (Verse 1) How long has it been Since you talked with the Lord, And told Him your heart's hidden secrets? How long since you prayed? How long since you stayed On your knees 'till the light shone through? How long has it been Since your mind felt at ease? How long since your heart knew no burden? CHORUS: Can you call Him your friend, How long has it been, Since you knew that He cared for you? (Verse 2) How long has it been Since you knelt by your bed, and prayed to the Lord up in Heaven? How long since you knew that He'd answer you, And would keep you the whole night through? How long has it been since you woke with the dawn, And felt that the day's worth the living? CHORUS: Can you call Him your friend, How long has it been, Since you knew that He cared for you? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Were they to sing this one (with feeling), they might accomplish something. Until that time, they won't. But I thought it a valid suggestion. :)

a quote from the Sullivan banjo website --- No union there. No need for *eternal security* from the company for health care. Unions had (and deserved) their 15 minutes of fame back in the day. Workers at companies (such as this one), never saw the need to employ unions. (I use the word *employ* deliberately). Product and customer satisfaction reigns supreme. If that happens, the company grows (as this one did). When the main concern is building a quality product that one can pass on to a grandchild, (luckily) unions are out of the question. They certainly wouldn't add to the company *mission statement*. :)

Eagle -- you could do like Bill Monroe (the Father of Bluegrass) did. Back in the late 1970's, He was proffered a bible by a woman to swear upon. Since a heated arguement was going on ---- Bill snatched the bible, and belted her with it! (New definition for *Bible Belt*, eh???) One tune Bill always did in his show was: "I'm Using My Bible For A Roadmap". Immediately after this incident, many groups parodied this song with: "I'm Using My Bible For A Blackjack". :P

(imo) Unions are sand in the machinery of life. Regardless of that, I hope Sushi (and all other's) get to return to work soon.

Waysider -- Here's an answer for you about that.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhjhhhhh!!! Don't tell anyone, but ------ rumor has it that this is Garth with his first computer!!!
-
Yup -- and then perhaps they could sing I DID IT MY WAY. :)
-
Maybe she could add *TECHNO-EYED* JOE on it. Performed by the Rednex. :)
-
I agree with Socks --- (if that isn't being redundant). ;)

Oh --- and I might add a postcript here. When the Mormons were here, one of the (two) young guys looked at my house. He commented -- "Looks like your house needs to be painted". I agreed. He said "if you ever need help, give us a call. We'd be glad to lend a hand" Needless to say I was impressed, though I never did take them up on that offer. If they are going through what you and I once went through --- graciousness and kindness is a GOOD thing to exhibit. Probably will do YOU more good than them, eh??? Just a thot!!! ;)

Shucks. I'm kind and polite to everyone that comes to my door. I figure (those witnessing), have had a hard day and could use a break. They always seem to come in *twos*! :P Have had a coupla Mormons drop by, a coupla Witnesses drop by, and -- a new Baptist church was starting up, and two of them dropped by. I've invited them all in (if I've got the time), for their sake. :) My front porch isn't *spacious*, but it's inviting so we usually sit there to talk. I make it a point to offer cold drinks, bathroom privilidges, that sort of thing to them. (Hey -- if they are out in the *hood* -- where's the public bathroom, eh???) ;) I don't drink coffee around the Mormons, I don't smoke around the JW's, and I don't drink beer when the Baptists were here. Nother words -- I try to acomodate what THEY believe in, since I (kinda know) where they are coming from. Unless I'm in a hurry to go somewhere, I NEVER consider it an impositon on my time to listen to them. I've been there, and so have most of the rest of us. It's always nice to be polite. I was on my front porch swing picking banjo when the two baptist ladies showed up. Being as how it's a public sidewalk out front of my house, I thought they were coming to my door to tell me how nice my banjo picking was! Then I saw the KJV bibles, and the denominational literature. I knew I was in for a whatever-ya-may-wanna-call-it. They had a *prepared spiel* (I kid you not), that the elder of the two ladies read off word for word. She paused occasionally to ask me a question (about what she had just read), and after I answered, she continued reading. Upshot of it all is (with those two), they left quickly once I mentioned speaking in tongues. I didn't do it in malice (heh heh heh!!!), but once I did --- they showed themselves the front door quickly. Guess my point is in all this ramble is -- be kind. Sure -- both you and I don't agree with them. Fer what's it's worth -- I ALWAYS show them the door, while refusing. But IT NEVER HURTS TO BE KIND TO THE INDIVIDUAL. That's all I wanted to say. :)

The Guitar has many *musical miles* on it. The Banjo has as many (if not more). The Bouzouki may be up for sale soon. (Too hard to stretch the fingers, to reach the correct frets). The William Knabe piano has more *musical miles* on it, than all other instruments here combined. It was my Grandmother's, and she got it in 1920. She was one heck of a classical pianist, and composer as well.

Those are my 3 fiddles. Looking at them (as you see them), the one on the left is a no-namer from Illinois, but is the best. Probably built around 1900 (just an educated guess). It's sound is awesome. The one on the right, is my old guy from France. (if the label inside is correct), it was made in 1750 (or thereabouts). It's got a (signed) *repair label* on the inside, from a luthier in Milwaukee, 1896. The Fiddle in the middle (sounds like the name of a tune!!), was made by an ancient ancestor of mine. It's the *family fiddle*. You can tell it's homemade, by the size of the F-holes, on the front of it. All 3 are sitting in the original *wooden coffin case* made for the fiddle in the middle. The fiddle and the case traveled many miles over the western plains, back in the mid-1800's.. It ended up in Iowa, and I got it from my great-great-aunt Ida ---- (who died at age 101 in the 1970's), and no one ever thought --- to ask her about the detailed history of this thing. It's as perky, if not more so (today), than it was when I got it.
