  1. Waysider -- It would be sacriligeous to post a clip of Mother MayBelle without her Gibson Archtop!! (Actually -- I don't think there are any. She never picked without it!)
  2. Yawnnnnnnnnn! Successfully eh??? Methinks you just joined ranks with Oldies, and others. If TWI wasn't SUCCESSFULLY sued, it just didn't count --- >>> right? Same difference. Shuck and jive indeed. <_< (My imo)
  3. Just one more example of man using religion to get something for himself, eh??
  4. Forgot to add this P.S. --- Cindy!: Yes you can find (some) IU bumper stickers in Bloomington, (though they are pretty anemic/ plain/ bland/ etc., etc., etc.) If you are looking for a window decal, you'll have better luck. You didn't mention window decals, so I didn't know if you were interested in them or not.
  5. The gumment (I think that's how Garth pronounces it), is putting a band-aid on an open major wound. If *serious economic stimulation* is the "goal" --- do something SERIOUS to achieve that end. NOT what is being offered. I guess if they (the gumment) want to seriously do something -- it's outta their league to think of; Oh -- say --- something like --- hmmmmm, let's see --- getting rid of federal tax on gasoline? Naw --- that won't work. Too practical. Makes sense. Can't have that.
  6. This by Escher -------------->>> while FREE BIRD plays.
  7. Hi Joe!! Yep ----->>> KEEP ON THE SUNNY SIDE. :)
  8. Hey Jeast -- Welcome to the site, bro!! I was in southern Illinois for a family funeral, and swung by Bloomington for about 15 hours, before heading north to Minney-soda again. I looked for a sticker while I was there. The Varsity shop had none, T.I.S. had none, and Kelly's (next to Nick's on Kirkwood) had none. The only place I didn't look, was the bookstore in the Student Union Building. It was too much of a hassle to get parking to go in there to look. So --- those 3 other places (for sure) won't have it, jeast. Cindy! -- I talked with a few folks, and they said that you probably WON'T find a sticker that has the University seal on it -- as that is reserved for the individual school stickers. (I.E. --- School of Medicine, School of Music, School of Business, etc.) The only ones I found with the logo on it said HOOSIERS, and NOT Indiana University. You might find something online??? Anyway -- good luck in your search. Not much to be found in Bloomington.
  9. A little of both for me. The more I asked questions, the less they liked having me around. Got to the point where I went less and less to twig, on my own volition. No fun, fellowship was *strained*, fake smiles, etc. I'm sure you all know the *drill*, eh? Finally (after dragging myself to twig one day), it was *suggested* that perhaps I should not come back. I acquieced, and didn't go back --- more for my sake than theirs!! One person there at the twig found out I had a copy of the *Overview* tapes by JAL. She wondered (aloud) at twig why these weren't being listened to and considered or discussed. I don't remember the exact response that she got from *leadership*, but it wasn't positive. She then told (whoever was in charge here that year), that she was gonna get hold of me, and listen to them. She got the word that I was a *bad apple*, and not to contact me at all. Short of the long of it is -- she did. She came to my house and listened to all 3 hours of those tapes. JAL laid it all out on the line in his *overview* of twi, and all that had gone on. She wasn't happy (after hearing the tapes), because she (like a lot of us) thought docvic could do no evil. If I recollect correct -- she was M & A'd from twig immediately after -- just because she came here to hear *The Rest Of The Story*. Yup --- twi is a *loving, friendly family* group intent on spreading the Love/ Gospel of Jesus Christ. RIGHTTTT!!!!! (Not in ANYONE'S dreams!)

    Super Fat Tuesday

We don't get to vote up here for the primaries. They have this thing called *Caw-cusses*. Pile of ----, with opinions added -- IMO.
  11. Any bear that has acclimatized itself to human surroundings, should be immediately shot. Sorry -- but that's the truth. Humans have fed them/ provided dumps that the bears congregate to, immunizing them from *natural fear* of mankind, etc. Living here in northern Minnesota, and having worked at the end of the Gunflint Trail in the BWCA -- there's lots of bear stories that I could tell, and not (necessarily) always in the bear's favor. There is a current story (here in Minney-soda) about a bear named Solo. CLICK HERE! Buncha greenie/ liberal/ posey-sniffers have their panties in a wad, and seem to think this bear deserves life instead of death. They even used pepper spray, to roust the bear out of hibernation, in order for it to move from under the porch, to a *safe* location, away from those who would *do it harm*. (As if they didn't). It's the folks in Ely Minnesota that got this bear to where it is. I guess they all think her *cute* or sumpthing. So now it (and her cubs) have been relocated to the U.P. (Upper Peninsula of Michigan). What good does that do, eh??? Solo is going to go looking for the food she was used to back here in Minney-soda. Nother words -- handouts from humans. When I worked at the end of the Gunflint Trail (75 miles above Grand Marais, Minnesota), I was at the county dump many a time, taking out the garbage from the outfitter's company that I worked at then. Every time I went to the dump -- there were bears in abundance there. Onced they have gotten the taste of *free food* from humans --- there is no going back for them. Just my IMO.
  12. The Surf ballroom is 1 block from the cottage my great grandfather built in Clear Lake Iowa. Mason City airport is (about) 5 miles away from Clear Lake. The plane crash happened a few miles miles away from the Surf ballroom. The Surf is still there today. They still have nationally known acts coming there. The street it is on has been renamed Buddy Holly Drive. Just thought I'd toss that tidbit of info in.
  13. So --- 30 years ago I knew this really great guy, and his wife, and kids. He and his wife, and I and my (then) wife, and a few others ended up staying up late all night long talking/ discussing/ arguing the Word on a regular basis. The old gospel song *Precious Memories* comes to mind. Anyhoo --- Joe (that's his real name) was surfing the net for folks who sang old TWI songs. He ran across my screen name (from what site -- I don't know but it's also my REAL name), and sent me an email wondering -- If I was the same guy he knew 30 (some) years ago. That was yesterday. I haven't heard from him in all these years. We had lost contact. It was with both shock and pleasure that I saw his name in my *inbox*. A real blast from the past, and a pleasant one at that. Yup -- TWI sems to have it absolutely coy-rect. Da internet(s) are of the debbil. Cain't have common folk re-connecting, eh??? Cain't have *positive* experiences being shared over the miles, or years, eh? Cain't have old friends saying howdy without *approval*, eh?? As far as I am concerned --- TWI can suck a donkey's d**k. There is NOTHING about fellowship/ research/ yada yada/ promoted by them. All they are interested in is a stranglehold at the level of the throat. Had my friend listened to their CRAP ---, he wouldn't have been on the computer, and would'nt have gotten hold of me. TWI has about as much *spiritual insight* as --------->>>>> (hmm -- better not say it, might get sued!) Regardless -- the internet is a friend, NOT an enemy. I don't give a ratz azz what the *fine folks* at TWI Hdqtrs say. Sorry -- I had to vent on this one, given the *spuritual revelations* that emanate from *New Nocksville*, and their decree that the intenet is of the *debbil*. P.S. --- All the above is my IMO only, and not neccesarily the opinions of those who own/ moderate/ or frequent this site. :)

    Pick a Car!

Honestly -- you can't beat owning a Subaru. :) You've got a choice of sedan, wagon, or SUV -- and they JUST DON'T BREAK. All wheel drive (all the time), and gas mileage that beats most other cars. I have a Subaru Legacy (sedan) that get's better gas mileage than my folk's Honda Odessey Van, and their Civic Hybrid. ;) (P.S. --- It's faster too!!) (edited fer speeling --- :( )

    wake up

There's A Tear, In My Beer (Beauty must be in the eye of the beer-holder, eh??) ;)
  16. To answer your second question --- It (pfal) was *cheap and affordable* when I first took it. Money wasn't an issue with it --- though the time commitment did offer *opportunities*. Your first question requires a detailed answer -- which I'm not prepared to go into just now. :)
  17. Shucks -- what Waysider done did say is coy-rect!! After all - he plays harmonica, and knows first hand when a pause needs to be taken!
  18. There ya go Ex. (And everyone else too). :) (It's easier for me to read this way also.)
  19. P.S. --- when we (Bow and I) mentioned Eb, John's banjo strings are tuned 4 frets lower than normal.
  20. Dooj -- here's the song we were talking about in chat tonight. This isn't the best version, but it will suffice. Ron was right -- 100 year old songs *get the message across*. Perhaps this should have been in the *music lover's* thread, but I thought it might get lost there. LORENA Here's the other one I mentioned -- by John Hartford. ;) Oh wait! The second song was in a differernt discussion! My bad! John Hartford--- may he R.I.P. 12/ 30/ 1937 to 6/ 4/ 2001.
