I have to confess. I like to watch sports, and I enjoy seeing someone win. Hearing this guy's perspective on *team* effort took it to a WHOLE new level for me. I'd always known it to be true, but not till I saw it posted, as quoted above. TEAM -- dosn't always mean *defeating the others*. Working towards a common goal?? Yes. It isn't me vs. you. Working together for harmony in life (musically or otherwise), seems to be the ticket, eh??

Playing banjo with an orchestra Friday, June 29, 2007 Watch the video From a friend of mine in Massachusetts. :) Thought you all might enjoy the concert. ;) I'm not giving up on the youth of America just yet. (Ps -- bpm means --- beats per minute)

Hmmm. I don't see a link, to answer these questions.

I agree. 100%. Unequivocally. Can you say ---- >>> Liberalism Is A Mental Disorder?? Liberals care more about *Critters* these days, than they do a human fetus. No concept of reality. Bambi may look cute as a fawn, but grown up and on a highway?? Nothing more than a hazard. An accident waiting to happen, to someone's detriment. Fetus' are an *inconvinient responsibility*. A *mistake* something to be *rectified*. BUT -- (of course) -- THAT aspect is never seen. Nope. Who would think like that??!! Humans are MUCH more expendible. We need more *critters*, like God intended it, eh? I can't wait for a *critter lover* to hit a deer (or moose) on a backroad somewhere. What are they going to lament over??? Their car (if they are alive to do so), or the *unfortunate animal*?? I'm sure they would give their car more thought than the animal. More thought than they would consider giving to a fetus. Misguided priorities seem to be the order of the day (these days).

A fellow I know (on another site) -- has the sig line of: You need one gun for every year of your life, and a few extra here or there won't hurt I have no problem with that. :)

Name that tune - Classical Music used in a Wedding...
dmiller replied to ChasUFarley's topic in Open
I knew it wasn't the Taco Bell canon. We used to play that in jams all the time. I was thinking Vivaldi or Mozart, but that wasn't it either. Glad someone had a Handel on the title!! ;) (Ala has a hornpipe named after her?? Cool!!) -

Hmmm. Wouldn't load for me. :( -
While that is true (theoretically speaking), the door to (most) of our minds were shut and locked. Kinda hard to *leave* under those circumstances, eh?? MOG threatening death, mahem, and destruction if you decided to leave?? Give us a break Oldies. :) Who would have a choice given all that?? I'd say little or none -- but you obviously think differently. So I'll stop here. Whatever I may have to say would fall on deaf ears. It's all been said before, and you didn't listen then. You won't now either. (PS --- thanks for the definition of VMP).

Listening to the interview now. Thanks Paw and Kris. Paridiseden --- thanks. I do remember she was there one year only, and I do remember Dean and Laura being there. I had a chance to show Dean some stuff on banjo, and he showed me some stuff on guitar. You and I probably know each other. Did you ever go to listen to Dean at the Runcible Spoon?? Oldies -- what is VMP???

Get a big gun. High caliber, lethal, and no compromise. This guy (pictured below) was shot recently in Arkansas. Look at the size of dem dere paws!!!

Duluth is a city built on a hill. At the bottom lies Lake Superior, and the hill rises dramatically (about) 1,000 feet above the Lake quite quickly. If you're at the bottom of the hill (by the Lake), and travel (about) 15 blocks UP the hill, you're at the top with it's MUCH higher elevation. Anyhoo -- there's a big church up at the top, with a big parking lot that has an incredible view over the Lake. You can sit in the parking lot and see 30 miles over Lake Superior way over into Wisconsin. I go there frequently to watch a full moon, or the Northern Lights when they are out in the sky. But I'm rambling here. We had a perfectly clear sky yesterday evening, so viewing conditions were perfect. My workplace is *up over the hill*, and I live *down the hill*, and this church is about half way in between. I got off work last night around 7:30 pm, so on the way home I stopped at the church parking lot to watch the eclipse. Awesome sight!!! Last night Lake Superior was half ice and half open water --- with the moon's reflection shining over both brilliantly. Then once the eclipse started it got really dark because both the moon and the reflection of it over the Lake diminished in direct proportion to the totality of the eclipse. We had (about) 8 degrees below zero weather so I stayed inside the car to watch, with the heater running! Quite a few other cars were there besides my own with folks watching the celestial *treats* free for the viewing. By the time the moon started to regain it's normal whiteness and brilliancy of a full moon again -- it had risen too high in the sky to be reflected by the Lake again, but overall it was a fine time to be alive and looking skyward. (edited to add: Geo ~~~ It was the Coppertop church, but I figure you might've guessed that already!) ;)

Docvic said it ---- We did it ---- Nuff said. What else do you want to know?? ;)

Ya know??? I haven't read any of this thread yet, except for this page. I might muster up the energy to go back to page one, and then again I may not. But I saw a mention of Ralph D., and his teachings. I remember one. :) Couldn't tell you where or when ---- but it was like the Hippy preaching to the choir!! He was teaching on (I-forget-what), and was in the OT quoting a verse about the *Deep Things of God*. I think it might have been: I Chron. 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.. Which he followed up with --- (said in the best hippy voice with an illegal smile) "Man! So cool! How deep is God, man??? He's like --- TOTALLY DEEP!!! How far DOWN do you have to go to understand TOTALLY DEEP?? I was laughing then, and still laugh today when I think of that time. *Biblical research* at it's finest!!

We (the branch) of Bloomington Indiana all took a road trip over to NK, for a SNS back in 1976, or thereabouts. JRR played at that SNS. They did the *Drop Kick Me Jesus* song. Never did hear Pressed Down do that one. Wasn't their *style*. They were more about *folk* harmonies (my imo), and less about instrumental integrity. JRR was more about instrumental integrity ALONG with harmonies and vocals.

Hey -- at least you got there in time to post an edit. That's still a sore point (with some of us --- myself included), that there is a time limit on editing. The *popular vote* on the subject was ignored. :( (Back to topic --- )

WG -- Interesting. How is it different?? Guess I'll have to read it to find out, eh? I'll be looking for that book, and will read it to see what it says. Thanks for the heads up. Is it comparable at all to J. Schoenheit's teaching on the Last Week Of Christ's Life? Or have you heard that one?? Or were you referring to something else? Regardless -- I'll check out your recomendation. :)

Hey there Mike. No -- I'm thinking that High Country Caravan came several (as in 5 or so) years later than Jordan River Ramblers. I remember seeing JRR at the BRC before a Sunday night teaching service around 1976 - 77, and (if I recollect correct) once at the ROA as well as at the Heartbeat fest I went to. Whenever they played (someone correct me if I'm wrong about this), it was pretty low key and not hyped up like High Country was. :)
-
Jordan River Ramblers -- with Randy DeBru** on banjo. Great group! Had the privilidge of playing fiddle with them at a Heartbeat festival in the late 1970's. My ALL TIME favorite *WAY SONG* is "Children Of The Light*, by Sam Pruyn. Great vocal work, great guitar work, exquisite execution of all things musical. :)
-
As much as I disagree with some of CES's methods/ teachings, etc., I feel they have this one right. Just my imo.
-
Is that the same Kris Skedgell that used to be in Bloomington Indiana back in the 1970's??
-
Some folks figured out the CRY OF *TRIUMPH* Docvic didn't.

For Dan Fogelberg fans --- PBS will be airing him in concert on Thursday (at least in my area). Perhaps/ most likely in yours as well. Just a head's up for those who've enjoyed his music.

I'm thinking (according to the Gospel according to Peanuts), you and I are both 1/2 way there. I've got the banjo, but no dog. You've got the dog, but no banjo. It's been 22 years for me. These days --- I put a premium on a *quiet life*. It doesn't work for everyone, but it does for me. And --- I don't get invited places either. Most likely wouldn't go even if I were. Getting invited to functions just means one has to *live up to expectations* of others, which I can do without. Just my 2 cents worth. :)
