Ahhh. Sadly, I realized (when my "new" Nechville arrived), that at my age this will probably be the last banjo I ever buy. There's 3 or 4 other brands that I would love to have one of (ODE D model being chief), but it probably ain't gonna happen. The only other instrument I really want to have now, is a five string Dahlia fiddle - - also made in Minnesota. I don't think I'll be adding any more instruments to the household here anytime soon. And really good renditions of any tune he chooses to pick. I just got a new banjo myself. A Nechville Nuvo, made here in Minnesota. State of the art workmanship. No fifth string peg. All the pegs are at the peghead. The picking/ tuning possibilities with this banjo are endless! A Grease Spot Cafe theme song? There is one, and ONLY one (in my humble opinion) that really "tells the story". Whether you were in twi-1/ twi-2/ or twi-3 under docvic/ lcm, or rosie, the result was the same. We were all "caged". Kept within the boundaries set by them, and not allowed to explore personal freedom or goals set for us by ourselves. Does anyone else remember the teaching docvic did on "freedom" as pertains to a bird in a cage like I do? He did a good job of saying that the bird was free (within boundaries set by it's master), but not TRUELY free. As far as I'm concerned, they were @$$holes who promoted "freedom in Christ", so we could be subject to them instead. We were the "caged bird" docvic talked about so many years ago. Free - - - but only within the restraints set by him and his cronies. I never was on Waydale, so I don't know how many members/ lurkers/ etc., were there. Current membership of GSC is 2,824, and many here have multiple accounts (look at the birthday section). I'm guessing one could deduct hundreds from the membership here to arrive at an accurate number. Ahhhhhhhhh Yes!!!! LONG LIVE THE!! < < < - - - (all 205 pages of it!)

I was in 6th grade. Catholic Grade School. We were sent home for the day after hearing the news. On top of that - - - It was my parents 13th wedding anniversary on that same day. With the town (basically) shut down due to what happened, they stayed home that evening. There's a former "baby-sitter" who didn't get to work in Indiana that night, back in 1963.

I make it a point to be polite and courteous to whomever (and I DO mean whomever) knocks on my front door. Chances are they don't really want to be there either, and it NEVER hurts to be polite and considerate. No - - - the folks who HAVE knocked on the door don't get inside my house, but I don't "turn them away". That's what front porches are for. :) I've seating for 3 or 4 folks on mine. It comes in handy time to time. I don't have to accept whatever they are "selling", and they get the chance to "log time" at my house (if I have time to listen). Win/ win all the way around. Even though they didn't "score" with me (making the sale or signing the green card or whatever), they will with whomever they're proselytizing/ selling for. I remember those days myself and I don't envy them in the least. I wish I had been treated more kindly in my days doing the same. Sometimes I was. More frequently than not, I wasn't. But I'm guessing all of us here are familiar with THAT scenario, eh?

Am rooting for my "home team" here in Minney-soda (The Twins), but it looks bleak. :(

That's Sam. In bluegrass - - - there is only one Sam. Just like there is only one Doc, one Earl, one Tony, one Bela, etc. :) Sam Bush plays both fiddle and mandolin equally well, though noted more for his mandolin picking. The clip I posted was "2nd generation" New Grass Revival. Sam is the only member of the "1st generation" New Grass Revival group. The others picking there are Pat Flynn (guitar)/ Bela Fleck (banjo), and John Cowan (bass). The New Grass Revival was an "offshoot" of the Bluegrass Alliance. (Yup - - there's "off shoots" in music too). Original members of NGR #1 were - - - - Courtney Johnson (banjo), Ebo Walker (bass) Sam Bush (fiddle and mandolin), and Curtis Burch (guitar and dobro). Courtney died, and was replaced by Bela. Ebo got himself into prison, for a VERY long time. He was replaced by John Cowan on Bass. Curtis just wandered off one day, and didn't come back. Pat Flynn was hired to take his spot on guitar. That leaves Sam as the last original member. And the video I posted is the 2nd generation NGR (New Grass Revival). There you have it.
