  1. Perhaps those who continue to twist the knife, ignore personal testimony, and demand *proof*, should have the *Scarlet Letter* affixed to their avatars, or posts, or both; Warning others of what to expect in the next few paragraphs. V We all know what the *V* stands for, and this is just a thot! ;) :)
  2. Personally --- (just my imo), I wouldn't attend either one. I'm a quiet guy, with quiet reflections about life. For what it's worth; *The Greaest Cargoes of Life Come In Over Quiet Seas*, is where it is at. Any sort of *exhuberance* (like this), is a turn off. I've been to churches like this --- and folks come for the show and the *glow*. I couldn't then, nor could I now get *into it*. Too much noise and hype for me. How can one *tune into life* with all that racket going on?? Some of my best *church moments* have been in nature's settings, contemplating myself, life, the grand scheme of things, my position within it, etc. As I said --- this is strictly an IMO. If your method works for you --- wonderful. I hope it works out for you. :)
  3. There once was a *train* rolling down the tracks at 90 MPH; And we were standing between the rails on the *CROSS* ties. We got run over. Plain and simple.

    ROA '76

Elvis died in 1977, though there have been numereous sightings of him ever since. If it's August ---- It's ROA Time. :)

    Busy day

Well hey!! If you're retiring -- you have that much more time for twig, and witnessing!! :D (How many green cards have you got, anyway??? I've got a few to spare!!) :P Congrats on the moving *onward and upward*. Here's wishing you *Da Best*. ;)
  6. This is from a fella I know of over in Great Britain. (Yea, yea, yea --- a banjo picker). He posted this on another site, about a tradition they have over there. Thought it might be appropriate to re-post it here. I (for one) never knew this happened.

    4th of July

Thanks Frank. I did, and I did. :) Got home from work this evening and settled down with an American micro-brew beer. Pulled out the 1962 Gibson RB-250 banjo (both it and all it's accesories made in U.S.A); Sat under a flag (that I received in 2000 at the voting polls) on my front porch; and picked the Star Spangled Banner Bluegrass style. It was a good day. :) Happy Fourth to all.
  8. Coffee, and a Danish for the newcomers! ;)
  9. Here's hoping you had a good one! :)
  10. Yea. I got a copy of his Adultery Paper a year (or so) after it came out. Seems the Org went into *High Protection Mode* immediately. Not only was he (John) labeled *possezzed*, but so would anyone who even READ the thing. Clamping the lid tight on Pandora's the lock box. If I recollect correct (it's been a while since I've read it), he never mentioned names. He never singled out anyone. He never mentioned specific instances. He merely said ---- ADULTERY IS WRONG, and backed it up biblically. Yup -- reading something like that there will certainly induce devil spirits. Opening up your mind to *outside influences* -- even if it is God's Word. A paper (such as this) should have been part of CFS, instead of the porn videos. I'm reminded of the old adage --- "The guilty flee, when no one is in pursuit". Alla dem dere in da Org musta bin feelin mahghty guilty! Ummmm Hmmmm!!!! "What happens in the cornfield, stays in the cornfield." :(
  11. I thought this was really creepy how descriptive this is of Wierwille. Brushstroke -- at your age you are MUCH more perceptive than I was in my lifetime. Keep on thinking the way you are. It'll save future heartache with Steph. Waysider is 100% correct. Docvic died of cancer, and he ALWAYS taught that cancer was caused by a devil spirit inhabiting the body of the person afflicted. Well --- guess which category that puts him in, eh?????? He condemns himself by his own teachings, yet (on the other hand) expects folks to listen to everything he had to say about the bible. I don't know this for a fact (perhaps others can chime in here), but I have heard that the last ROA he was at, he had oxygen tanks ABUNDANTLY available to him, so he could keep on breathing. Here's a so called MOG who taught *Believing equals Receiving*, and *Cancer is a Devil Spirit Possession*, succumbing to the *Devil Spirit possessing him*, and UNABLE to utilize his own teaching of Believing, to produce the deliverance for himself, that he mandated that others should do for their own deliverance. Mention this to Stephanie, tell her it's ALL documented, and watch the relationship disappear. If she's die-hard twi ---- She won't take kindly to this here. And you'll be better off because of it.

    Another groaner.

Saw this on another site. Enjoy! ----- >>> This personal story of a preacher was shared by my sister-in-law, Scarlett. In the words of the Reverend himself: As a young minister, I was asked by a funeral director to hold a graveside service for a homeless man, with no family or friends. The funeral was to be held at a cemetery way back in the country, and this man would be the first to be laid to rest there. As I was not familiar with the backwoods area, I became lost; and, being a typical man, I did not stop for directions. I finally arrived an hour late. I saw the backhoe and the crew, who was eating lunch, but the hearse was nowhere in sight. I apologized to the workers for my tardiness, and stepped to the side of the open grave, where I saw the vault lid already in place. I assured the workers I would not hold them up for long, but this was the proper thing to do. The workers gathered around, still eating their lunch. I poured out my heart and soul. As I preached the workers began to say "Amen,""Praise the Lord," and "Glory"! I preached, and I preached, like I'd never preached before: from Genesis all the way to Revelations. I closed the lengthy service with a prayer and walked to my car. As I was opening the car door and taking off my coat, I overheard one of the workers saying to another, "I ain't never seen anything like that before and I've been puttin' in septic tanks for twenty years."
  13. I got the same one, Waysider. Dot --- yes you need to do this to embed it here. :)

    Song of the moment

An all star cast doing ----- >>> Sawing On The Strings (The guitar break is done by Tony Rice --- using Clarence White's old 1935 D-28 Martin guitar, SN 58957 --- one of the most famous guitars in the world.)

    Song of the moment

Joe --- Thanks for that link!! I'd all but forgotten about Forkey Deer/ Forked Deer. LOVELY fiddle tune in *D*. We used to do it all the time for square dances, when I was in the Wild Thyme String Band. The key change from part A to part B always seemed to energize the dancers! Hearing it again ----- >>> I had to pull out the fiddle and pick along!! Those two started it out right -- but DANG!!! they went into keys that taxed the fingers! Here's a tune that would sound good on any front porch, living room, or concert hall, done just like the folks doing it here (another of my favorites on ANY instrument) ----- >>>
  16. If your Limerick sounds better in German, Tell it that way so we're hearin', What you meant when you spoke, then you won't have to joke; "I wish you could've heard the ORIGINAL one."
  17. Mike --- hey there. :) For the record --- I have no bitterness. Honest! And given the testimony of first hand witnesses that abound here -- there's not much falsehood to *feast* on, as you suggest. I'm not sure what your *superior set of ammunition* is (though I can make an educated guess), and it has failed in the past, run it's course, and has been found wanting. DWBH posted a COURT DECISION, concerning twi, and then asked a simple question. We're not discussing the merits, (or lack thereof) of pfal. It was a court decision, and the ramifications of it is what is in question.
  18. Pineapple and Canadian Ham Settled down on the pizza pan.. There on the dough, They decided to go, And say I am what I am. ;)
  19. While asking a man named Raf, About pineapple on pizza he laughed. That's flat bread he said, with tomato sauce on it's head, There's nothing Pizza about that! ;) (giving the nod to Dooj, before things turn ugly!!)

    Guitar Talk

And --- I should add this. I'm on a mission. Yea -- I have BGAS bad!! The 20-hole tone ring I used to have in the Gibson was fine. Original equipment. Strong, powerful, loud, good tone, you name it. It had it. I won a Kulesh Vintage 20-hole tone ring in a contest on a different banjo site. A $375.00 piece of metal that fit my banjo like a hand in a glove! (Sorry for the analogy there!) My "62 RB - 250 sat up and TALKED!! D@MM -- did it ever sound fine! Only problem is --- I know that there are better rings out there. The strings I finally settled on are cryogenically treated (Yea -- I thought it was a gimmick at first too), but these guys sound better, stay in tune better, and are cheaper than any other brand. The company that produces the Cryo strings, also makes a Dannick tone ring, for the banjo. They're out of New England (Mass - I think). They just came out with a no - hole Dannick, that is taking the banjo community by storm. I want one. If their strings are that good, (and yes they are --- I'm here to tell you) and do everything and more that is promised --- I'm betting their ring will be equally good, and taking one's banjo to the *next level*. Everything I have heard (from the pros), suggest that that ring, plus the old wood I have (for the rim, neck, etc., on the banjo I have), would be a perfect match for tone and volume. Here's a pic of the Dannick 20 - hole. I'll be ordering the no - hole. 900 bucks for that baby there. The no hole will be comparable in price. I paid (about) 500 bucks for my banjo in 1971. It's worth a lot more now. :) The banjo is an instrument, but it's also a *machine*. Better working, machined parts make it MUCH more efficient. Yup --- I've got a SERIOUS case of BGAS.
  21. There is this thing we call pizza, With pineapple on part of the piece of the slice of the pie that both you and I munch contentedly saying Eureka!! (It's FOOD FIGHT TIME!!) WOOPS!!! (Did I just open a can of worms, here??) ;)

    Guitar Talk

Hey there Joe. :) Yea -- as older age sets in, and I pick less quick (or proficiently) than before. My left arm doesn't work like it used to, so I play less fiddle these days. Extending the arm out to hold it, is a chore and hurts if I play too long. --- As in I used to play for square dances --- 15 or more minutes per tune. Banjo and mandolin (on the other hand) being (usually) played in my lap while seated, is easier since the arm isn't extended like it is for the fiddle. Sometimes my fingers lock up on me too, but (conversely), the more I pick (guitar, mandolin, or banjo), the more they loosen up for me and it's easier to pick. Maybe if you just pick a little at a time, and space it out you'ld be OK with it?? Dunno -- just a thot, and speculating here. Here's something you MIGHT be interested in (I haven't checked it out myself; and just heard about it tonight ---), but it sounds interesting. I'm just passing along the post that contains the info --- OK? No endorsements or nuthin!! ;) Like I said -- I first heard of this tonight but I do know that Tom and Steve have Focal Dystonia, and Tom has had to quit picking banjo (recently) as a result of the disease. As you probably know, Tom was the original/ only banjo player for , and Steve is with .
  23. Sure Bumpy --- Here's my comment to your comment as pertains this thread. ;) Hey There Bumpy. :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~??!!! ((wth?!!) There -- I feel better now!! I guess *non discussion* is truely good for the soul, eh?? <_<
