When it came to the money -- Geo has to be right.

Good night. I hear what you are saying. Questioners are not infidels. Nor are over-zealous believers. Seems like GS can be both battlefield, and clearing-house of info and discussion. If it weren't both, it would not be GS. I love it here, and for those reasons. Sweet dreams. :)-->

still laughing over the DWA statement, but -- ahem! time to get serious! Yes, and here they are. I got "in" in 1975, and back then you were NEVER called on to manifest at meetings unless you had been thru the Intermediate class, where "interpretation" was taught. Am guessing now that the twi "take" on it was "if we did not teach you how to do it, you don't know how to do it." --> First time I got called on to manifest, the guy running the twig didn't know that I had taken just pfal, and NOT the intermediate class. He called on me to "do the honors", and nervous as hell, I did. Without a flaw, (according to twi theology), since what docvic taught as "interpretation", was actually nothing more than prophecy, but I did not know that then. To expand on this subject, we'd have to move to the doctrinal Forum, but suffice it to say, that I did what was required, and though nervous, I did it. Needless to say the TC got himself a new one, reamed out by the BC, who knew I was "just" a grad of the foundatinal class, and nothing more. (Hear that Mike?? Just a grad of pfal???) I, for one, had NO problems with it, and in fact, it gave me a "high", knowing I could do what the Word said. It pleased me to no end. I could do, (or in those days -- it was called "operate"), what the Word said, and perhaps that is one of the things that kept me there for the next 10 years. Dunno, but perhaps. Fast forward to 2004. Here we are. Do I still speak in tongues? For myself, I can only say ABSOLUTELY. Daily. Hourly. You name it. I rarely ever pray for any person, or situation "by my knowledge". Perhaps I am naive, but when I think of a person, any person, I consider that as a call to pray, and since I do not know what is going on with them, I trust in the fact that God does. And if SIT is "the Spirit praying thru my spirit" (or whatever), I am believing (sorry about the use of that word - but it is applicable), that God called me to pray for that person, situation, etc., right then and there. Now -- do I do the same in a church setting?? No. I do not go to church. I would love to find one that could at least articulate with a small modicum of sense solid, half-way accurate belief in the bible. I would settle for half-way, but I don't even find that (these days). Were I to find such a group here , I would be glad to participate, and if they called on me to manifest, yea -- I'd be really nervous. It has been such a long time (20 years now) since I have done so in public. But then again -- there's that "high". "What a long strange trip it's been."

Why I reject belief in the Bible

You're correct. -
Why I reject belief in the Bible
dmiller replied to Refiner's topic in Atheism, nontheism, skepticism: Questioning Faith
I asked a Messianic Jewish pastor this one time (no -- I am not a Mesianic), and he just said "It's all one book". He did not elaborate further. He and I have "gone around" about the administrations (of which I am a firm believer in), but reguardless, OT ascribes attributes to God that rightfully belong on the adversary's door-step. If you are truely interested in the "dual nature" of God, please go to www.truthortradition.com Not trying to "brush you off", but these folks do have answers -- even if they are an off-shoot from twi. -
That will happen when they are serving ice water in hell!! Don't even need to suspend it, just toss it out with the weekly trash, and then sidle up to the "Table of Challenge". --> Refiner -- for an nbw, you're catching on mighty quickly!! :)-->

Thanks. Guess I could check Barnes & Noble, or something like that, but would appreciate the info. Last time I saw him (again in Bayfield), his bus was parked on a county road in front of some local bar,and he and the "boys" were inside soothing the vocal chords after their performance. He was a gift to mankind, and I always wondered if the folks in the bar knew who was there with them that night.

Yea -- I remember that. The "Orientalism" about how bread was cooked on stones, and soon the stones took on the appearance of bread, since they were flat, round, and saturated with whatever it took to cook the bread. The "Orientalism" continued to show how God was able to tell the difference between the two, and if you asked for one, He wouldn't give you the other. Not completely sure how this is applicable to this question, but I am thinking that we got what we needed, when we needed it. Again -- I'll say we should of been looking for the "exit" door sooner than we did, because bread soon "fossilizes" and begins to look like the stone it was cooked on. And I, for one, wasn't smart enough to tell the difference in time. :(-->

Yep. You are right. Dot -- you are an awesome person. I read your story. What a travesty. I had no idea. :(-->
-
Dot -- I think it was I who made that statement, not Refiner. I did not mean to imply that just any group would do when one is/was looking, since looking involves choosing, and objectively evaluating those choices. Some will obviously grab for the first "life-line" thrown to them, yet there are others who will look for the "life-line" that won't break, and choose that one instead. Sounds like you did the latter. What an awesome post! Thank you.

Socks ---:D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> This is gonna take forever to ponder, and get the true significance of it all!

But -- (a big but), if they change the "original doctrine" (and I was quoting Refiner), I have no problem with the "off-shoots" since they are trying to rectify matters. They could obviously fall into the same trap, ditch, whatever you want to call it. Off-shoots aren't too bad, just make sure you look for the exit door as you enter, in case you need it handy.

Refiner -- you have yourself a good one!! :)--> PS -- if you ran for prez of that Journalist Society that Raf is running for VP of, would you be the Ref Raf ticket?? --> :D-->
-
Refiner -- you may be a cynic, :)--> but you are right about the "uniqueness" not being relegated to one group. Lots of "prey-ers" out there looking for those who are offering "prayers", and guess we all got caught one way or another. --> You also pointed out the "crisis conversion", and again -- you're right. Whoever gets there first, makes the "sale". Even if an outfit turns sour, it may have been just what the person needed at that time, so the "sourness" or "rotteness" of whichever Org "got the sale", takes back-stage to the fact that they were there and effective for at least a little while. Was that the same with you and the various groups you were in? How do you see your past involvement, and the entrance into it? Was it the same as others have said here, or different? Was your's a "crisis conversion"? Not being nosy, just curious.

BlueSunday -- I was there too. Did you ever hang out at "People's Park" on Kirkwood Avenue? Those were the days. Lots of discussion, music, you name it, wayyyyy past midnight!
-
I hear that. :)--> And also, Luke 11 is the only place mentioned in the Bible where the disciples actually ask Jesus to teach them something. And this is what He comes up with. Yes -- it is important. I still remember docvic saying "why cannot I pray this prayer?" (whatever session of "da class" that was in) Who was he listening to?? -->

dmiller replied to Jeff USAF RET's topic in About The Way
Aye. True. And the public may actually get wise, and buy worthwhile books to grace their bookshelves, instead of this drivel. -
Ditto! Welcome and have fun here. Free deals like this are not the norm, you got here right on time! ;)--> Ted -- again, thank you. You're very generous to share this way. Music is special to all of us, and your music is really special.

$214.00 for 8 books. --> Should I hang on to mine and hope the price escalates, or sell while the selling is "hot"? -->
