How many GSers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
dmiller replied to sprawled out's topic in Open
Well -- the standing joke about how many banjo picker's does it take to change a light bulb is: One to change the bulb: and 5 others who say: Earl never did it that way!! -
Mark --- here's hoping you had a good one. ;) Happy Birthday. :)

How many GSers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
dmiller replied to sprawled out's topic in Open
One to change it, and an entire limb to ask "Did you do that by revelation"? -
I was looking for a class ACT hat to post a picture of, but couldn't find one. :( I'll just have to settle with a simple Happy Birthday! :) Hope it was a good one!

Allen Munde is (arguably) one of the best melodic banjo pickers, on the planet. :)

Rainbowsgirl -- Hey there. How be be ye?? :) I went from this : to this: Dang!! Just realized I have 5 applications open, and they all respond immediately with a click. That never happened before. I'm liking this. Very Much!!

Oh --- I need to add that I got the Aluminum keyboard --- definitely *light to the touch*, and when i click on a link (website), it's on the screen almost before I get done double clicking. This is one Freaking Screaming Machine!! :B) :B) :B)

This should (probably) be in the computer section but since some of us were discussing Macs vs PC the other night in chat, I thought I'd put this here. I just got a new iMac, 24 inch screen, 2.8 GHz 2GB memory 320GB hard drive 8x double-layer SuperDrive ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB This thing came loaded with more *bullets* than this old boy know's how to shoot. ;) I've got a LOT of learning to do, but I will say this --- The screen is large enough -- I can get two pages up and viewable at the same time, and the audio on this thing is better than my home stereo system!! Not sure if that's a compliment for the audio available on the iMac, or a comment on the quality of my current stereo system!!. Anyhoo -- Just thought I'd toss this out here, for perusal... and maybe discussion. :)

Did you go out with a bang, or silently into the night?
dmiller replied to JavaJane's topic in About The Way
Yup -- That Christmas carol Silent Night comes to mind ----- >>> "Silent night, Holy night. Left the way, Without a fight." Like TommyZ says -- they left me before I left them. :) -
Oh --- Thought I might make an observation here zbrick --- (your contact info). Happened to be THE WAY with the following contact info ----- >>> Where in the H E (double hockey sticks) is a web address (WITH EMAIL CONTACT INFO) Or, a phone number, where one can call and talk to a real person????? Write??? Snail mail?? What's a stamp even cost (these days???) I haven't a clue. Repeat after me --- *Dark ages*, *Dark ages*, Dark ages*. Since they didn't even provide it on their (COUGH! COUGH!) web site, I'll give folks (here) the land-line number they (twi) were too cheap to put online. Area code (419) 753-2523 That is taken from one of twi's own publications. I'm guessing it's the same. It costs money to switch things, eh? The phone # was published in the twi Bookstore Catalog from 1988. Nothing ever changes there, so why would a phone number be different, eh? (P.S. --- BUT if anyone decides to call that number, be prepared for them to ask (basically) WHO THE H!!! ARE YOU?, and to be put on hold, and you'd best have your area leader's name handy, as well as your twig leader's name handy because you're going to need *credentials* . You'll be *contacted* by local leaders (at their convinience), if you're NOT active. They (twi) won't give out S hit for info over the phone, if you aren't a current member. I know. It happened to me, recently.) A biblical fellowhip, research and teaching ministry??? Right! The Jehovah Witness's, Mormons, Baptists, Pentecostals, (You name the ORG), have more compassion (not to mention contact info) than these bozos. Sorry, If I need something along the lines of what you are offering, it's already here at GSC. And in spades.

Well --- I took a look and saw the first page only. Does one have to sign up/ sign in to see the others? Seems I couldn't access them, if I didn't, but that might just be me. I copied this from your front page (to post here) ----- >>> Where to start? ----->>> And I'm NOT being confrontational, just stating the facts, OK?? :) The entire POP paper can be read here at GSC. Comments and threads about it abound. CES has it's own sub-forum with all the evidence needed as to why it imploded. AOS also has many threads about the *rainbow man*, and how he was *doing his own thing*. Grease Spot Cafe has the largest population of folks willing to tell the truth about the REALITY of twi. Pfal -- (if you search in the back pages of the doctrinal section), has threads MANY pages long about it. Adultery and fornication (both in the bible, and by the mog) are regular topics here. There's folks here who've helped build the vpwow auditorium, AND the corps chalet. We (at GSC) have discussed past ROA's, what happened, to whom, when, and how. A lot of us were Wow, Corps, Fellow Laborer's, U. of L., etc. All Innie, all the time --- >> but NOT no more. Do you REALLY want to invite us to that site?? Honestly? We don't *just get along* (See Paw's thread on the open section), because we now are free to speak our mind, and guess what?? We differ, and it's cool. But (most of us) have been here long enough to be man/ woman enough to apologize when things get out of hand (as they occassionaly do). So -- with all that said --- I wish you well on your site. I think you'll find few (if any) recruits for your site from this one. Again -- this is meant to be informational --- NOT confrontational. God bless. David (edited fer da dang gum speeling thang!) ;)

Have missed your posts and hope you are doing well, especially on *your* day. :) (how's the running tiger??)

Here's hoping you had a great one!! Happy Birthday! (P.S. --- 3 of my fiddle bows STILL need re-hairing, and I'm still waiting!!) And (word of warning here ---) I'm wearing knee pads so you can't bite em!! :P

Heard this one on the WWB Internet Station tonight. Jim Mills ---------- banjo. Andy Leftwich ---- fiddle. And some group called Ricky Scaggs and Kentucky Thunder adding vocals! ;) Halleluiah, I'm Ready
-
I'd pay good money to see Gillian and David. Awesome writer and picker. .By The Mark is one of the most powerful songs I've EVER heard. Done here with Ricky Scaggs.

Looks interesting!! Thanks, Seth! :)

Same here. :)

That there is the ONLY *pride* celebration I would support. :)

Thought I might add an update. Local news media said today (Sunday, July 20th), those viewing the airshow was over 40,000 folks, and NO accidents. and --- since when does a paint job make a jet ready for wartime maneuver's??? Eh? Methinks it's the pilot and the equipment *available* that determines that.

I was in Morehead Kentucky (at the state university there), attending a music camp. :) A bunch of us there stayed up to listen to the radiio about it. We were speculating about what the first words from the moon would be. We got it wrong.

Be kind to the Police. Even if you have reason to believe you've been wronged -- be kind. Their's is a tough job, and belligerance doesn't help you at all (even if it DOES feel good at the time). Two stories (both true) that happened to me, concerning me and my *lead-foot*: 1994 ----------- >>> I was driving for a pre-press company and traveling every other day from Duluth to Minneapolis (150 plus miles). Down there on I-35W (heading into Mpls.), I saw a state cop on the other side of the road suddenly go into the grass on the median to turn around and come my way. Yup -- He was after me, driving the company owned Toyota wagon. I knew I was speeding (the speedometer read 70 MPH), and the limit there was 65 MPH. After asking for my license, he said "Do you know how fast you were going??" I tried looked shame-faced, and said "Yea I know -- I was going 70 MPH." The following conversation took place: Trooper: No you weren't! I clocked you at 85 MPH! Me: NO WAY !!! This speedometer read 70 MPH!!! Are you kidding me??? Trooper: Sir -- do you think I would be facetious in a situation like this?? Me (backing down): No sir, I don't think that at all, but this speedometer DID read 70 MPH. Trooper: So your speedometer is off, huh?? Me: This is a company vehicle, it isn't mine. He went back to his car, checked me (and the vehicle) out over his radio. He came back to my car, handed me my license, and said: "Mr. Miller --- I see you haven't had a speeding ticket yet. Let's keep it that way." And he turned back to his car after telling me to have a good day. :) 2006 ------ >>> I go back and forth between Minney-soda to Indiana all the time to visit family there. Wisconsin cops are VICIOUS (more so than any other state I've driven in), for speed traps. Coming back to Minnesota (if I recollect correct it was a Labor Day holiday), I got caught. The Wisconsin troopers set up a bunch of laser speed detectors on an overpass, and had 10 to 15 cops waiting down the road a mile away to catch offenders. (Portage Wisconsin I-90/ 94 West --- if anyone cares to know the location!) Came over a hill, saw all the cops parked on the side of the road, and one of them pulled out right behind me. I pulled over, and immediately got out my driver's license for him before he even got to the car. He (kinda) smiled when I handed it to him before he could ask for it, saying: Trooper: Well, thank you! Usually I have to ask for these. Me: Figured you'd need it, and you look busy. Save you some time for asking for it. Trooper: Well -- we clocked you at 92 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. That's too fast! Me: Well -- I was just going with the flow of traffic. (I got a stern look here, and then said --- >>>) Me: Guess I was following the wrong crowd, eh?? Trooper: Yup. You sure were (but he was smiling when he said it). I got the ticket, cost me almost 300 bucks, but it coulda been worse. If I'd been beligerant, he could have made my trip home much worse for me. Even if you're in the wrong (like I was) --- a soft answer turns away wrath. :)

Oh -- and lest you get the wrong idea (and I don't think you did) ----- >>>> I'm in favor of peace myself. Wouldn't wish a war or international conflict on anyone. Don't remember where it is now --- but there's that verse about *war and rumor of war*. Best be prepared, if it happens. Don't want to bring a knife to a gun fight eh?
-
I imagine there are many more questions that could be asked. I hereby state that I do not claim to have definitive answers to them, as MY answers would vary by each question, and they would STILL be only MY answers from MY perspective. I'll post these questions for your considerations anyway. ~HAP I figured I might hear this from someone ---so I'll answer while (hopefully) NOT relegating this to the politics and tacs section. Hap -- I know you're NOT being confrontational, merely asking, surmising, etc. With that being said ------- >>>>> 1.) Yes. Not sure where your statistics came from, but according to you 90% of the air time is a success. 2.) Perhaps. CIRRUS DESIGN, (local manufactuer of planes, and now jets) was the main sponsor. Not sure what their *take* in this was, nor am I aware of whatever negotiations went on finacially speaking, and what they may or may not have realized monetarily. 3.) Yes. 15 to 20,000 (or more) folks showed up to see the show (both paying) and non-paying customers. There were at least 10,000 folks inside the gates, and (perhaps) twice as many lined up along the roadway outside the gates. 4.) Maybe, maybe not. Seeing the Air Force in action (for those that have an inclination to fly), would be powerful indeed. Many other branches of the Armed Forces were there as well, with booths set up for folks to visit. They were talking, not flying. 5.) IMO --- not a valid objection. (see answer to #3) Now --- the *tricky* one -------- >>>> Observation #6. Yes -- It was indeed the *Virtual Army Experience* that Ms. Michelle Naar-Obed (member of the local Catholic *Loaves and Fishes* orginazation) objected to. She got prominent coverage in our local paper. Others here in the community chimed in voicing their opinions, saying something like *this* shouldn't be at a *family event*. Well, that's all fine and good --- EXCEPT there was (to the local newspaper's credit), ONE article describing that Virtual Army Experience. The author of that LONE article told *the other side of the story*. What Ms. Michelle Naar-Obed FAILED to mention was --- this VAE was for soldiers to RESCUE people. Everyone that decides to do the VAE, has to sit through a session in order to understand who is a threat, and who is not. Nother words -- if yer a trigger happy guy, and just want to shoot folks, you're gonna flunk this thing ---- Yes -- you get graded on your *performance* when you leave the booth. You are told IN DETAIL before you enter the booth who IS, and who IS NOT a *bad guy*. The objective is NOT to kill people, it's to rescue those who are being held against their will. Somehow --- the *peaceniks* missed that little tidbit of info, in their uncontrollable urge to protest any and all things that guarantee their freedom to spew such sh!! against those who provide that right to them. So --- This is NOT a rebuttal. Merely telling you what things appear to be here in the *hood*. But thank you for your observations/ questions. Made me think about why today was REALLY special! (edited to highlight Cirrus Design).

I've talked about this diet before here at Grease Spot, concerning two of the clients that live at the group home I work at. They (both males) are 5' 2", are victims of Prader-Willie Syndrome, and both used to weigh 400 (plus) pounds. Currently --- both weigh in at 133 (or thereabouts), after 14 years of MEASURED meals, with NO sweets, and only diet soda WITH (minimal) exercise 4 times a week -- they are where they are today. Carbs, protein, and veggies (along with fruit) are allowed in their daily diet. It's the measurements that count. NOT saying this will work for all ----- >>> But it did for them, and their condition is genetic, so they really can't help it, but overcame it regardless. Just a thot.
