  1. Dot -- what a great story! keep on keeping on the "CROSS" road. :)-->
  2. I guess your "definition" of God, and mine differ then. :)--> Mine put together the universe in 6 days, and then took a day off.
  3. I saw that quote too. Not being disrespectful or anything, but why bring that up here? PS -- I love Dot too. She is an inspiration, an absolute treat to talk to, and a stalwart companion in prayer there in the Prayer Forum. I didn't like what they said over there about her either.
  4. I don't see GS as being very "fundamentalist". If you want to see "fundamentalist", drop by "Bible Discussions" on aol. Certainly some of us here (myself included), lean that way, yet I also see the cynicism here as well. I haven't yet checked out the other site, so I can't speak to that. For what it is worth, I feel many times that I do not fit in either - be it music, work, politics, "religion", social views, etc. The one that "bothers" me the most, is the music scene. The bluegrass crowd disdain old-timey music, and the old-timey music crowd disdain bluegrass. I happen to like both, yet trying to reconcile one music style to another (to either of these two "camps"), is like trying to get blood out of a turnip. Worse than trying to get a Baptist to forget water. --> But I still go and pick with both groups. What they "think" is immaterial to me. What they "pick" is the more important thing. I won't let the bluegrass crowd ruin my love for old timey music, anymore than I would allow the old timey folks ruin my love for bluegrass music. Two distinct styles -- and I am caught in the middle of them. I don't fit in completely with either one, but that is ok. I never did, and am used to it. I take all the good I can from each side of the equation, and leave the rest behind. :)-->
  5. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY!! :)--> :)--> Lucky numbers. Lucky girl. Lucky Mom! ;)--> Have a great day.
  6. Should be easy to do. Anyone named Riff - not allowed in! (since Raf is already there.) :)-->

    :D--> I know it is in the dictionary somewhere. But usually not here at my place!

    My Agenda

    Summer? What's summer? :(--> The "joke" around here is that summer comes once a year, on the 4th of July. Not this year. We're totally "socked in" by fog from Lake Superior, and it is 54 degrees outside right now. --> My Saturday "agenda" is -- get off work at 8pm, come home, turn the computer on and try to keep up with all that is happening here. But if it is a nice night, I'll forestall coming home, and go for a drive up the North Shore. I'll also get out one or two of the instruments, and pick along with a CD or two. Saturday is the one day a week I watch TV, and I tune in to Antiques Road Show, Austin City Limits, Red Green, and the Kentucky Network "Jubilee" shows. Both TV, and the computer are in the kitchen, so I can keep one eye on the TV, and the other on GS. The instruments are all in the dining room, easy to grab if I hear a good tune being played on the TV. And then there are some Saturdays that I actually get something constructive done! :D-->
  9. Rascal -- Amen to that. :)--> I didn't mean to suggest that SIT was the only way. Matter of fact, I'm envious of you for being able to "talk things out" with the understanding so well. What Word Wolf said about using both, and what you said about choosing when to use that which you have -- both make perfect sense. (personally - I prefer the truck too, when it comes to vehicles!) ;)-->
  10. Roy -- Now I understand. Thanks. :)-->
  11. LMatters -- I don't watch tv, and never saw "Happy Days". Thanks for the explanation, though, it made sense, and now I think I know (a bit) about what Zix was/is saying. I do know the name "Fonzie", though. ;)-->
  12. What does "jumping the shark" mean? Anyway -- I voted for maybe. Someone, somewhere in one of these threads said something to the effect of -- "Things go in circles here." I tend to agree, tho I hate to admit we have only one oar in the water !!
  13. Potatoes wear jackets???? Hmm. :D-->
  14. That's why I asked for (and got) the FiddlePicker "category". I am coming up on post number (whatever) that would have put me into the "Thinks Gore won the election" category. Am glad Paw granted my request.
  15. And again -- SIT may have been a matter of "faking" it with some, but (imho), it is prayer that God looks for, and is NOT something He looks at as "validation" in a "believer's" meeting. --> Forget the believer's meetings. Do it on your own, privately, no one else around, that sort of thing. Just do it before God -- you and Him, no TC's present, and see what kind of answers you get. SIT is one of the greatest "gifts" to mankind in my opinion. If you had a million dollars in your bank account, you would "tap" into it. If I had a 1923 Lloyd Loar F-5 mandolin (cream of the crop - for those of you that don't know about mandolins), I would pick it. If I had a Porshe 911, I would drive it, and not park it in the garage. What I am saying is that we have a very special ability to speak directly to the Father, and though one experience (twi), might have soured that, don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. :)-->
  16. --> --> --> Is this really a quote from me???? I never froze up. Or are you saying you did??? I don't understand what you mean. --> I guess I am naive enough to believe that what God promises, He can do. My bad -- as they say - (whoever the Hel* they are. --> I did it, and once this thread got started, I remembered how it was for me in the beginning. Speaking in tongues (or rather the definition thereof), is one of the few things docvic got right, even if he did get it from someone else. It is NOT a gift. It is proof that you have Spirit within. And for those who do not wish to utilize it, fine. No problem. Do what you wish. As far as I am concerned, those who don't utilize this, and/or take advantage of it -- you may as well have won the POWERBALL, and decided to toss out the winning ticket as "so much trash".
  17. Ex -- take a look in Acts about the first occurrence of SIT. I know you don't like the bible (or so I assume from what you have posted), but there was never a "message from God to the believers" in the original SIT. It was men speaking the wonderful works of God, not God giving a message to the believer's. docvic had it wrong.
  18. I never was, nor will be, unless I knew them personally, and could have face to face talks. One ex-cult board is enough for me! There is enough going on here to keep me busy, ignoring household "chores", watching seasons change (while still here), seeing my car depreciate in value, etc., without getting into another board! ;)--> While giving "live links" a passing glance, I am only interested in another's "cult" if they are seated across from me at a table, and we are "breaking coffee", as Oak says!

    My Agenda

    We used to say that on stage. :D--> "Send yer request's written on the back of a $50.00 bill, and don't throw coins. They hurt the instruments!" -->
  21. If it is full of food and beer, I call it my "support group". :D-->
  22. What an excellent question! :)--> Seems to me that 2/3rd's of the "spirit kingdom" were still "the good guys", yet we never did hear about them. -->
  23. Pass me another wine-eskie please. ;)-->
  24. WW - shhhhhh! :)--> Raf runs a Christian site, don't cha know? ;)-->
