Jal and others confrontation letter to BOT & clergy meeting
dmiller replied to pjroberge's topic in About The Way
And one more thing -- JAL was not the only one back in the mid 80's speaking out. I have a helluva lot more material than what I sent you, from lots of clergy, as well as others, saying the same thing that JAL did. However, he happened to write about it, and get it circulated. Strength in numbers??? Well -- usually, but I don't know if even that would convince you. Really -- give it a try. If everyone is saying the same thing, doesn't it stand to reason that at least a portion of them may be right??? -

Oldies -- the "mega-vagueness" you speak of is (perhaps) there, in the 37 page letter. However the "vagueness" of any sort (mega, or micro), encounters a head on collision with a brick wall called "reality" -- that is most eminantly dicussed, chewed over, and spit out on the Overview Tapes done by JAL. Guess you never heard those, eh??? Well -- I have, and it is 3 hours worth of tesimony/history/ and documentation (from many sources) of the horrors that went on. Listen to those tapes (btw -- they are old news now), and perhaps you'll change your tune, though I doubt it. This stuff really happened. Don't be an ostrich hiding your head in the sand refusing to see things as they are. Bless. :)--> -

Pat -- good to know you got the stuff I sent you. Was happy to provide it. Am also glad to see it is scanned, and out there for all to see. Those things seemed to be "done in a corner" (unlike Acts 26:26) -- and it is good that these notes finally see the light of day. -
Music Concerts: How Much Will You Pay?
dmiller replied to Nottawayfer's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
In the past couple of years, Paul Simon (along with Bob Dylan), showed up -- as did Brooks and Dunn, Rod Stewart, James Taylor, Bob Dylan again (by himself), Willie Nelson, and the Eagles. Average price for tickets were in the $75.00 to $125.00 range. Rod was the lowest at $35.00 per ticket. Eagles were highest at $175.00. I just got back from a 4 day Bluegrass festival, and the ticket for it was $60.00 for all 4 days, and 8 different nationally known (bluegrass) acts were there, and performed at least 2 sets each, as well as doing workshops for any who cared to show up. I guess I've gotten spoiled by the bluegrass circuit, and the festivals. If you can't meet the performer, have them show you how they do things, hear them tell stories about their life on the road, inter-act with them live (over a beer, or a cup of coffee, or at dinner, or in a jam session), I'm not interested in concerts. I'd be hard pressed to name an artist that I would actually pay money to go see in just a concert venue (rather than a festival venue), but if such a person/group did come to town, $20.00 would be tops, since I'd have to save some for the CD's that are invariably sold! I'm willing to pay the "cover charge" to get into a small venue, but the bigger ones (imho) just don't cut it. -
I agree. The fact that he even registered here surprised me. He is like all others here, a person with a name (a famous name, but a name none the less). And will post as we all do -- as we wish to do so.

Maybe send them a "peace pipe"? I'm betting Tom S. has a stash he would be willing to let go for this event! :D--> ;)--> :D-->

Wierwille books on eBay - going for HIGH $$$
dmiller replied to Jeff USAF RET's topic in About The Way
I hear that, loud and clear. I haven't sold any of my stuff either, and I have a lot that date back to the mid-70's, and then some. It is only the enticement of the $$ that makes me consider doing so. I would hope that whomever might be interested in purchasing "archival" twi paraphenalia, would be doing so from an historical perspective, but looking at it honestly -- I would suspect otherwise. :(--> I don't want to spread the myth either. It has been around way too long. This stuff has been in my basement for a couple of decades. Perhaps a few more years won't hurt them! ;)--> -

I've got close to 200 SNS tapes here. I've been using some of them as "blank" tapes for music and such. -
:D--> :D--> Good one!

He (James) was still a proponent of the law, and circumcision. Click on the link above (if you haven't done so already), from ckeer. The entire work is online, and you can print all of it out. That is what I did, and as I said -- it is an excellent read. The work offers many, many new insights to what happened in Acts. Now -- am not saying it is "gospel", but it sure gives you something to chew on! :)-->

Guess I should clarify, that "the re-enforcer" is used for a multiplicity of looked for, hoped for, and expected results, with the folks I work with. I think it's been shown, that it works with "potty training" too. :)-->
-
Working with the DD community (Developementally Disabled), we don't use the word "bribery", or "reward". We use the word "re-enforcer", and any such is given after the "client" does what is expected of him/her. And yes -- It works!!

And it is an excellent read too. :)-->

Is that a supportive, or denigrating "rant"?? --> John Galt can polarize people just like Mike! :D--> I read Atlas Shrugged many years ago, and enjoyed it. It did take a while to wade through it though. Especially John Galt's radio broadcast in the latter part of the book. Seems like that went on forever! --> WB -- I'll be "on the hunt" for Anthem. Thanks. And Geo -- I'll be looking for Judgement Day also. They both sound good.

Sorry to hear about the broken leg. :(--> I've had a few glasses of "lemonade" also. Hoping for you, that this turns out to be a "tall glass"!!

wwjla -- Thanks! (You too WhiteDove) I know what they are now. Frequently at some of our jam sessions, parents there that are picking, give their kids (which they sometimes bring along) those eggs to shake, and keep time with. I thought of that after I asked the question. Was just kidding about the "fiddling" part! ;)--> Guess I was hoping that if you could sing like Allison, that perhaps you could fiddle like her also. But I guess if you could do that, we'd be seeing you on the Opry, rather than here.
-
:(-->

A "mean egg"?? --> :D--> You've got my curiosity up, and soaring! If you play fiddle, and can sing, like Allision Krause, you are some one I would like to meet! ;)-->

Hmmmmm. The Canadian border is just 120 miles from me. Should I run for it now while I have the chance? --> :D--> :D-->

dammmmmm!!! Oak, I have gotta say this much for you. For an Agnostic, You sure know yer bible!! :D--> Ummm -- I'm getting a long post together, and with multiple verses. Not sure I am right on all of them. Can you drop by, and help edit??

Cynic -- thank you for saving/re-posting the preceding. :)--> Satori-- no, it isn't anti-climactic at all. You are correct that I am not inclined to challenge CES about what they put forward, but conversely, may I also add that I actually do have questions about some of their doctrine, as well as some "practical" issues" that are happening these days. Without going into any specificity here, I don't take all that is said by CES for granted, yet by the same token, I am willing to listen with "more-of-an-open-ear" to them, since I do think they are on the "right road". Even the "right road" has detours, switchbacks, stop signs, forks in it, and even an occasional accident that stops traffic for a while. Simply meaning that even on the "right road", sometimes one has to proceed at a slower pace, and use caution. If you had that conversation with John S., and if that was what you got, then that is what I will have to go with, since I was not there. That being said, I still have to re-iterate the fact that I have never heard anyone at CES say "I've forgotten more of the bible --- etc.". In all honesty, if I ever hear that line from any person, group, denomination, cult, street preacher, street sweeper, tv preacher, you name it, I'll be waving good-bye to them through my rear view mirror. I have no time for folks like that. "Pride goes before the fall". Ask Evel Knievel. I don't see this happening at CES, though I don't doubt that you do, given what you have mentioned. Again -- sorry I flew off the handle. Not having prior knowledge of your reasons for your post, I said what I did. Some of it I stand behind, some of it I retract. PEACE, LOVE, and BLUEGRASS!

I fought one too many times with Mr. R*z*rbl*d*. Took a while to get used to it, but my beard kinda "grew" on me. :D--> :D-->

Does Mr. R*z*rbl*d* know his name is being used here?? --> ;)-->
