  1. "a 1/2 pint?? and only every three weeks?" That is like 4 shots, every 3 weeks! --> Guess you are not a picker then, eh?? ;)-->
  2. To address the original question -- God speaks all the time. Perhaps this thread should be titled "Why don't we listen more often". In a word -- yes. Without going into details, I once got myself into a jam, and had no way out of it. What I had done was criminal, and retribution was required. Being sorry did not cut it. I had no way of paying back the offended party. I don't normally "agonize" in prayer (perhaps I should more often), but I did that night, and I got an answer in the form of a friend's name visibly floating over my back yard, as I looked out the window. Long story short. I called him up, confessed what I had done, and asked for help. I got it. He pulled me though the situation in more ways than one, and I thank God for it, and him. My experience is not to be equated with the snowstorm on the gas-pumps, but it is not "a temporary form of mental illness" either. And may I say, mental illness is NOT NORMALLY temporary, and I think you are doing a dis-service to the entire disabled community by even bringing up such a statement as that. You (imo) are making light of a very serious disorder that many suffer from, through no fault of their own. If you want to see mental disorders, don't just bandy about the term, come and work with me for a week (if you can handle it), and see what it is really like. If someone (anyone) states their opinion because of conviction, it is not mental illness. Temporary, or otherwise.. -->
  3. A person sexually/physically abused as a child, will retain memories for years also.
  4. Wayfer Not!, WhiteDove -- Thanks! :)--> I'm headed to Sam's Club today. I'm getting low on coffee, and need to get some more for next week. I'll check out the book section while there.
  5. For once -- I am thankful that I was in twi-1. None of this was leveled at us then. ABS was the big thing then, debt was an unheard of entity. -->
  6. With whatever "good" twi offered --- the main thing I got from them was an introduction to E.W. Bullinger, and his "Companion Bible". Granted --docvic claimed much of it for his own, yet I would have never heard of the works of Bullinger, had it not been for twi. I have several versions of the bible here, yet Bullinger's (yea, yea, I know - KJV - --> ) is the best I have ever had a chance to look at. I got born again at an Evangelical Meeting; I learned to speak in Tongues through a Catholic charismatic group; Twi supported those teachings, but did not initiate them; The only thing I can credit them with, is the intro they gave me to Bullinger.
  7. Gee -- I'm feeling left out. I've not heard of this book before. I guess I can go to the local "Christian Bookstore" for it. Sounds popular. --> I went there once for a bible, and they had one shelf only, for bibles. :(--> The entire store was filled with "feel good" parephenalia, and I don't want to categorize this book before I have read it, but it sounds like it fits the description. I'll try to find it, and take a look at it.
  8. (Humming along with Dovey) -- I once was lost, but now I found .... :)-->
  9. WyteDuv -- awww shucks!! (where is the "kicking-a-dirt-clod gif when ya need one!?) --> :D-->
  10. Dovey -- Here is what Steve! posted on page one of this thread. It explains everything. He comes to you via snail mail. You send a postcard to the school via snail mail, and send Flat off to his next destinaton the same way. :)--> BTW -- How are ya doing?? :)--> --> :)--> David
  11. Never thought I would agree with Hap so whole-heartedly, but --- :D--> :D--> HA! Get new windows, forget the TV, save some money on cable, HD-tv, etc., and watch the reality shows right out there on your own street!
  12. Krys -- my house was built in 1896, and I have windows like that too. I did pretty much everything Long Gone said (several years ago), to fix the broken ropes on the front porch windows. The hardest part for me, was to get the molding off slooowly, so that the wood did not split, and break in pieces. The rope itself is easy enought to replace, but the first time I did it, I bought some kind of "braided rope" that stretched way too much -- and had to re-do it with a different type of rope. Like others here have suggested, I also used a wooden board to prop the thing open before it got fixed. Good luck! :)-->
  13. True. Nor do they think they have a calling from God, that has to be brow-beaten into said "students", like some others we all know of.
  14. WHERE IS FLAT STANLEY??? --> oh no -- you don't think he's been kidnapped, do you? Meebe them there evil Republicans sent him to 1600 Pennsyvania Ave, and he got deployed to Iraq :(--> Flat Stanley, where are you?
  15. Song -- you got your post in while I was writing mine. I can deal with a handshake. Sounds righteous. ;)-->
  16. The only "Gita" I know of is In-a-Gadda-da-Vida", and Homer Simpson is someone I am not familiar with.. The Iliad was part of high school curriculum 35 years ago, so forgive me if I have forgotten all it says. --> If they were, I missed the import in pfal, yet "The Ministry of Angels to Believers tape showed me the importance of steadfast prayer. Whatever docvic taught about angels, he did not teach that they are enabled by our prayers. Geez -- Daniel was OT, had no Christ in him, and look at what he did. A helluva lot more than most of us can claim today. I never heard that in pfal Maybe that will answer your question. I hope so!! :)-->
  17. Please don't call me "sir". :(--> My schizophrenic tendencies might start acting up. :)--> You just quoted my answer, then asked the same question. I guess I don't know what you want an answer to. Mea Culpa (Ithink) -->
  18. Song --- Yes. I recognize those lyrics. From a pretty good rock band, I might add! ;)--> Used to have a bunch of their records. The scripture quotes I was referring to (from the tape I mentioned) that I had not heard taught before, were from Daniel, chapter 10. Kinda showed me how it is recorded that one man prayed for 3 weeks, was heard the first day, and because of adversarial interference, his prayer was not answered for those 21 days, because of a spiritual battle going on that he had no knowledge of. That's what I meant, and that was one of the things I got out of the tape teaching. Twi did a lousy job with the entire angel subject. First you have them (guardian angles), then you lose them (now you are born again), but now you have no protection, because Our Saviour is an "absent Christ". And --- fortunateone --- you said: Since you and I cannot do those "molecular tricks", may I suggest that your last sentence there is indicative of things that you and I might consider demeaning, yet they do them anyway? Just a thought. :)-->
  19. You meant 1 Cor.15:19, right? :)-->
  20. Ha! Good one. Ya got me there. ;)--> Guess we'll just have to ask Jesus when He returns, eh?
  21. CKnapp3 --- What goes up, must come down! :D--> :D--> :D-->
  22. wwjla -- sorry to say, not this year. :(--> the "business" is all about dividing, and the distribution of, an estate in the family. It could have been put off until next year (and I suggested such), but I got out-voted. -->
  23. Song -- you are amazingly adept at selective quoting. --> You took the time to copy, paste, and try to discredit Jeff and CES by quoting what you did, and ignoring the post immediately above the one you copied. The one above the one you copied and pasted says: If you have the words "I'm sorry" in your vocabulary, now might be a good time to practice using them (to Jeff, and CES), since you have made an hugely egregious selective quote, in an attempt to discredit, that has left you with a pretty flimsy platform to stand on. If you disagree with them, say so. Don't stoop to "dirty politics" to try and prove your point.
