Raf -- you're sending Flat to Tampa? Guess the schedule changed, and if so, that's ok. Flat might get here in time for the John Beargrease Sled Dog Race (a 500 mile "marathon") for those who run sled dogs. :)-->

I remember "Beautiful Ohio" -- wafting across the campus there, at AC '79, like some eerie extra-terrestial musical forefinger beckoning to all within hearing distance. Play it, and they will come -- and like zombies we did, in the early morning hours, dressed in our *best*, bibles and (more importantly) syllabus' in hand, checking the name tags (is it on straight?), pads of paper (do I have enough for all the "words of wisdom" I will hear?), pens (can't run out of ink, in the middle of an inspired teaching), and then there was .......... that sooonnnggg -- leading the innocent, into the unknown, and into the dark halls of "hollowed" learning, where those that knew little, propounded much, mesmerizing the unwitting with words, much like the music previously, so that ALL (is it all without exception, or all with distincton), left just as glassy-eyed as when they arrived, many hours previously. No doubt the next prez (whomever it may be), will find an equally hypnotic melody to invite the *masses* to learn "much", about "little". I would vote for Eagle, but I don't think his plans would *fly* there at twi (the wierwille institute). :D-->

Yay Krys!! Was thinking the same thing. :)--> What cha think Abigail?? Could they give him extra material to read, once he gets all the stickers on his assigned work?? Might give him the incentive to "push the paper" a little faster, if he knew he could get extra things to read out of it.

Where do catholics get holy water? Do they take a gallon of water, and boil the hell out of it?

Well -- for what it is worth --- vpw cited sources, but at the same time made out like he was the great one, who "ferreted" these truths out, from the many myriads of the doctrinal "quagmire" that inundated the average "Joe Believer" -- who couldn't figure out a thing, without the "MOG" to tell them what to beleive. Oh sure -- I'll grant you that he taught this stuff, but I will also say that he did his best to make sure that we knew that he was the one teaching it to us, and there-for taking all the "glory" for the discovery of these many doctrines "hidden" until revealed to him, personally. IMO -- he only mentioned sources to validate himself, nothing more. He did a good job of "validating" himself, on the cover of the Way Magazine, for many years, and he did the same theologically, by "citing sources", if only to prove his particular point might actually have some sort of credence to it because (while someone else discovered it) -- he was THE TEACHER. -->

Sudo -- I'd have not gotten it, were it not for Wafer Not's post, and then listening to the "spiel", that you provided.. The Blue Ribbon goes to Wafer Not, not me. :)--> I just put two and two together, but didn't have the original "two" to work from! :D--> Thank you Wayfer!!!

Wierwille's Wacky Dispensationalism
dmiller replied to TheEvan's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Oak -- you just listed 20 "Administrations". 2 X 5 (twice) = established grace (times 2) meanining it is really established! or -- 4 (time of probation) X 5 (grace), means that Grace wins in the end. or 20 (2 X 10) equals ordinal perfection, established. or 1 (unity and commencement) X 20 = who-the-heck-knows!! You could start your own denomination, (with proper promotional material), and figures like this! :P--> -

I'll agree with that statement, 100%. ;)--> -
Hey Sudo -- what is the prize? --> A one-way all expense paid trip to New Knoxville? :D-->

I'm a 52 year old non-disruptive, basically well-behaved person, who would rather play too! :D--> Maybe the teacher should be the one sent to the principal's office, instead. (Aw shucks -- I see song said it first!! Snuck it in on me while I was writing this here.) A five year old like that, can't have the "grasp' that the teacher (in this case) seems to expect. When you meet with the teacher, perhaps you can suggest (lovingly), that "honey" works better than "vinegar". The DD folks I work with (developementally disabled), are the same in many ways -- and though they have guidelines to follow also, one has to "work with them", and give them lattitude when needed. Guidelines can be followed, while accepting the person for who they are, and working with the "quirks" that are presented in each individual case. Maybe this teacher is doing this, and maybe not -- but I think you're right. He/she needs to lighten up, and realize who they are dealing with. If that teacher can't do that, then I would wonder about their qualifications as a competent instructor. But that is just my "IMO".

For Anyone Who Stayed After the P.O.P. - Why Did You Follow Martindale?
dmiller replied to Oakspear's topic in About The Way
Uncle Hairy is right. When vpw died, the "spell" was broken for a lot of us. POP only served to prove us right in our exodus. I did go to a few fellowship meetings after it all came down, but the vitality was never there, and I had heard too many stories by that time to be able to reconcile what vpw taught, with what was happening. Little did I know (at that time), that I was just seeing the tip of the iceberg, so it pleases me today, that I never stuck around. after that. The few times I did try to go back (to the local fellowship), I was made to feel MOST unwelcome. Wish I knew where they are today -- I'd look em up, and say "Thanks!". -
:D--> :D-->

--> --> CES agreeable to getting back together with twi?? That's news to me. I don't think that one is going to happen.

Dartanian3m --- That was beautiful.

:D--> Maybe! 4-square congregations claim to have a "well-rounded" theology.

Better buy some Bon-Bons then, Tom! :D-->

I don't know if it was vp, or someone else who described the Sabbath as a "tithe" of 1/7 of your time (linking it to the 10%), but I remember hearing it defined as such. I agree Oak -- it is a rest, and not giving anything, although one could say that since it was required -- it might be construed as a tithe (of sorts), but I don't see it that way.

Did the Leaders of TWI Stick with Wierwille's Plan?
dmiller replied to Oakspear's topic in About The Way
I don't know if I would say "betrayed", so much as I would say "over-zealous". The few times I remember the *straying* you mention, were due to some gung-ho BC, who thought they had the right way of carrying out HQ's directives, but didn't. A case of not looking before they leaped. -
