Thanks for that link, Mstar. :) Heard some stats on Phelps today that I hadn't heard before. He's 6'4" tall, but has legs the same as a person whose 5'8" tall. His upper body is the same as someone 6'8" tall, with a 32" waist. If he spreads out his arms, the span is 6'7" in width. He has oversized hands and feet (size 14 shoe). (His double jointed ankles help, acting as an extra advantage in the water). His mother (when he was in grade school) was told he would NEVER amount to anything. He was "Too shy, too hyper-active (ADHD), too this and too that". Now he is THE most decorated Olympian of all time. What a performance this week, eh?

Hey there Jeff. PM is not the same as IM. All posters here at GSC can PM (private message) any other poster who is a member of the site. This is true on almost all boards, and it's always been a feature *available* to those registered here. It can be disabled by an individual poster (should they choose to do so), and that's what I was wondering. If you go to your MY CONTROLS at the top of the GSC page, that'll get you into your profile settings. Once there, on the menu on the left side and down near the bottom you'll see BOARD SETTINGS. Hey there George. Last year I had a three week vacation set up. I was in Indiana visiting my folks before heading over to the BBQ, and a day or two before I was going to leave there to go to Texas --- Dad fainted and cut his head badly on a kitchen cabinet. It wasn't pretty. I felt I needed to stay in Indiana for the rest of the vacation. If I recollect correct, he was getting out of the hospital the day the BBQ started. THAT's why I wasn't there. I hope I don't see a repeat of that this year, eh?

Michael Phelps takes 8 gold medals in the Olympics. I didn't think it could be done, but it was done tonight. 8 gold medals in one event at one Olympics with 7 of those Gold being world records, and 1 being an Olympic record. I'm not all that interested in sports, but the possibilities here had me captivated and watching as he got one gold medal after another. Kudos to him. Raising a glass in his honor here -------

There are two boards that I am on, that require that one be *authenticated* before being allowed as a member. If you're not a member, you don't get to see what is being discussed. Plain and simple. And that's for everything. You see the front page, and if you can't log in --- you DON'T get in. That aspect (might) work here for *hidden forums*, but not overall. As pointed out --- some areas on this site need to be OPEN to all seeking solace or info about the cornfield cult (such as About TWI/ Open/ Etc.), and there are other areas that might need to be private, free from the prying eyes of the Way GB and from those wishing to do posters (here at the site and questioning the ORG) harm. It's an idea. Might actually work. Time will tell if should it be implemented. I've one thing to say about ONE of those two *other* sites I'm on: I can safely say ---- it has been the subject of MUCH discussion, searching, questioning if it even existed, etc., on other boards that have been (somewhat) related to that one. (Won't say who's questioning!) ;) That it exists is a reality. That it is *hidden so well* was due to the secrecy of the members (myself included). Those looking to find the url of the site couldn't/ can't do it, cause we ain't talking out of school. When we were invited to it, we knew it wasn't for *publication* to the masses, or anyone else for that matter. That's what will be needed (should something like this be implemented here). Whoever is invited: *To the Special Room*, needs to know how to Zip the Lip about it's existance, if it is going to be successful. Then --- once you've spoken in the *private room*, keep those posts and comments there; and don't share or refer to them out on the general board. :) My IMO -- but I've seen it work. ;)

Docvic used to come up here to Minnesota for fishing trips. They had some lodge they rented northwest of me here (I forget the name of it now) and if I remember correctly, it was a bot *planning* session for them at the same time. Maybe (if the story is right), it happened up here.

For anyone that didn't see the 4x100m swimming relay last night, run over to the nbc olympics site and check it out. The video is under the NBC Encores section - "Swimming Day 3 Finals." The mens relay is at the end of the clip (at about the 12 minute mark). This is one of the most exciting olympic finishes I've ever seen. Watching the teammates celebrate after the race was simply priceless. What makes it even better is that the anchor swimmer for the favored French team was talking trash before the race and how they were going to "smash" the Americans.
