  1. Oak --- I read that in appendix 182 in my Bullinger copy too. Funny that E.W. would have that in there, since it shows (to me) that Jesus was human, and Bullinger was a trinitarian. The word husband in Mat. 1:16 is the word *aner* (Strong's #435), which means husband. If it had been Mary's father, the word used would have been *pater* (Strong's #3962). I'm thinking E.W. had this one right, and V.P. didn't.
  2. What point of reference were they coming from? If your brother ran into them shopping at some *high end* store instead of Walmart, their story might have a little more credence! ;)--> Mr H. --- :D--> :D--> :D-->
  3. Isn't that what it turned out to be?? I know Jeff, and I also am a financial *partner* to CES -- specifically to help keep that site in the top listings when one types in "trinity", in hopes of finding answers. Perhaps you feel badly for selling the domain, yet I see a lot of good coming from it. Perhaps you did not want it to be a CES site, but if your goals for it are realized --- then what you did should be construed as a success. :)-->
  4. You can find it here at Associates For Scriptural Knowledge. Have fun! :)-->
  5. Radar -- what is meant by *bad*?? I personally distanced myself far enough away from *leadership* and hdqtrs that whatever they did, had little (if any) effect on me. I was a part of twi, yet kept myself *insulated* from them at the same time. I moved to the beat of my own drum. I listened to what they said, and concurred with a lot of the rhetoric, but not the rules. Sure -- I was tossed out, M & A'd, and other believers were told not to associate, or talk to me. I was beginning to think that *heretic* was my first name, since that was how I was referred to -- but regardless -- I don't see that as *bad*, just saw it as the way things were. I guess your experience was different than mine, but I for one, wouldn't make a *blanket statement* saying that if something *bad* did not happen, you weren't involved with twi. My times with the outfit were *sorry*, but not *bad*, as I read the way you mean it.
  6. At least something wrong was seen, and dealt with. These guys did more to correct mistakes, than another *ministry* I am thinking of.
  7. To get back to the "over-loaded truck" aspect of this story, my experience wasn't much different. It was May of 1985 I went on LEAD, and it was one of those "traveling sessions" they held. The one I went to was in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We all met at the local mall, parked vehicles there for the week, and transfered all our camping stuff into the LEAD vehicle. I don't remember what kind of truck they had, but it was a big one pulling one of those sturdy Wells Cargo trailers behind it. They piled as many of us as they could in the back of their truck (there were about 25 to 30 of us on this session), and conscripted two other people (who had a full-sized truck, and a station wagon) to transport the rest of us to the starting point. Since all our gear was in the Wells Cargo trailer, they deemed two extra vehicles *enough* to get us all to the site. We were packed like sardines in those two trucks, and the wagon. I was in the back of one of the trucks, and I still remember one guy saying on the ride -- "This is nuts. I for one wouldn't mind abundantly sharing a little gas to help out." We all agreed, but we didn't question the *thinking* behind it. Since this was in '85 -- I guess they did not learn their lesson from your experience, HCW. The ride to the campsite was a pretty up-beat one despite the crowding. The ride home was subdued and silent. While we were out there, we were surprised to see a uniformed officer coming up the path, looking for "whoever is in charge here". It was from him that we learned docvic had passed away. I don't remember who was running the show that week, but the name Kevin rings a familiar bell. He (or whomever) decided to cut the week short by one day, and we all headed back to the mall -- in the two trucks, and the one station wagon -- where they put us to work dividing up the supplies into daily meals, for the next session they were going to run.
  8. Happy Birthday Shellon! :)--> Reading eveyone else's greetings -- and almost forgot to add my own! --> Here's hoping it is a good one, and hey?? ---- Speak up a bit more in the chat room! Yer so quiet we hardly know you are there! :D--> :D-->
  9. ROFLMAO!!!!! :D--> :D--> :D--> That there orange book must be a wee-pon of mass destruction, eh?
  10. Awwwww geezz ----- Now I gotta get out my vpw copy of "The Word's Way". Was hopin I wouldn't have to do that!! :D-->
  11. MTgal --- I stuck around. This was actually my area of choice (at the time), and somehow the years have slipped right on by. I was married when I moved here to Duluth (in '78), and in twi. Once here, both my ex and I decided to go wow, and since we had just moved into the area, we requested to be *sent* here (new town, no friends except *ministry folk* bla-bla-bla) and we were. I was divorced, and out of the *ministry* in '85/'86, and had put enough roots down by then, I decided to stick around. I never had a lot of friends back in Indiana growing up, except for old-timers that I would pick music with --- and by '86 a lot of them had passed away. By then I had met a whole new group of folks up here in the bluegrass scene. I think about moving back south every now and then, but that's all I've done about it so far. Guess my roots here are deeper than I thought. ;)-->

    Its Groundhog Day!

:D--> :D--> Naw -- I'm just telling you today what happened yesterday, since the results of the porcupine yesterday weren't reported in the local paper until today, even though it is yesterday's news and not to be repeated today ;)-->

    Its Groundhog Day!

You don't have to be Belle. There are no groundhogs up here, so every year a porcupine takes it's place. Early spring predicted for us! I'ts been in the 40's for the past two days, and snow melting like crazy. Such a sweet sight! Gotta love that Porcupine! :)-->
  14. Meebe docvic "threw out the bathwater, but kept the baby"! ;)--> And actually -- looking at the geneologies tonight, I realize I had forgotten that the *split* happened at David -- with his two sons Solomon and Nathan. Since Solomon is mentioned in Matthew, I can see Bullinger's reasoning for putting the regal line there.
  15. As far as #1 goes (I just skimmed some stuff, and didn't really get into it) -- wasn't the *key* word husband -- in Mat. 1:16?? Doc called that word father of Mary, instead of husband of Mary. (I think). And if I remember right, there were the *two* geneologies -- One for a King (Mat), and one for a man (Luke). Royal geneologies progress downward to the person in question. Whereas regular geneologies go from the person in question to as far back in time, as can be traced. Or was it the other way around?? :D--> Yer right -- some gymnastics on both sides of the court here! ;)-->
  16. And A la -- are you related to Lorna?? You two look a lot alike too! ;)-->
  17. I found his book at Amazon, and Barnes and Noble, but no bio of him. Sounds as if he is an English author/painter. -->
  18. Now that grosses even me out!
  19. Belle -- so true. So many things have happened to so many people over so many years, and so frequently, it can not be just a coincidence. David
  20. That's terrible!!! Sounds worse than another outfit I'm thinking of, and that's saying something.
  21. Whadda-man-of-god!! I'm guessing his *heavy revy* was somehow distinguishable from the stuff he flushed, eh? :D--> :P--> :D-->
