Here's another question to ponder -- If God joins together, and the state legalizes divorces -- isn't that a conflict of separation of church and state?? ;)--> bad dmiller! I was married before also, and have been divorced for a while now. The "piece of paper" and the vows made certainly did (and do) mean a lot. As in a lot of cases -- we *grew apart* (for whatever reason), and in the end we were unable to work it out. Hearing this talk of *breaking vows*, makes me wonder where we actually broke ours, but as the years passed -- the gap between us widened. My ex is re-married (and has a child this time), and she had no qualms about the second marriage. I have had the chance to get married again myself, but never did. Things just weren't *clicking*, but if they had -- I would have had no qualms about re-marrying either. Nor would I have worried about the previous marriage, or vows spoken. We tried to work it out, but like Cindy! said -- "we stuck a fork in it, and found it *done*". Not only did we not try to *break the vows*, we tried to work things out -- so if marriage were to come up in my future, I wouldn't feel guilty about the previous one at all, or the vows spoken once upon a time.

I remember the same. The Giver was one entity, but the gifts were many and varied.

Back in the 70's, an excuse was given that it was actually God you were honoring by being *especially kind to the household of faith* (that in itself is a true statement), but it didn't take long to warp it out of it's original meaning to serve their purposes. Ironically enough -- it was the "tweaking speaking" that got me interested in the outfit in the first place. Guess it all had that *catch-phrase* appeal, designed to "sell the product and hook the customer". And after 10 or 11 years, it was the "tweaking speaking" that finally caused me to really see what they were doing to the both the Word, and the english language. (A quick ps. about this) --- The first time I really got *ticked* at them for word-substitution was when there was a bluegrass group in twi -- and for the life of me, I can not remember their original name (maybe someone here remembers) --- but they were *dubbed* as playing TrueGrass, since BlueGrass gave a negative connotation. --> *Blue* had to be replaced by *True*, and though I forgave them for the serious indiscretion -- the seeds of doubt were sown. "BLUEGRASS IS THE VITAL FORCE OF LIFE"

Yea -- right. --> If they (twi) had any integrity at all, they would stop all this analogy crap, and stick to what the Word says. Twi totally ruined Ephesians 6, when that line of BULL was propounded about "Jocks of the Spirit". If they were interested in promoting a *ministry* and teaching God's Word, instead of a *broadway show*, and someone's demented "take" on "what it really meant" -- they would of canned that teaching so fast, it would even have made the Jolly Green Giant jealous. If they want to be accurate, they would stick with the *sword of the spirit*, and forget the athletic thing. You throw a javelin, and lose control once it has left your hand. When using a sword -- one can inflict intended damage on the *target*, repeatedly -- since you retain control of the weapon. I've said it here before, and I'll say it again: THE -- ADVERSARY -- DID -- NOT -- COME -- TO -- COMPETE!! He came to Steal, Kill, and Destroy (John 10:10) WGB, BOT, BOD -- and all that are still "in" -- your's is a sinking ship (on the sea of life), as you continue with all this ludicrous verbal posturing, that's forcing others to believe it as (cough!) doctine. --> I left you all 20 years ago because you (then as now) can't get it right, and still insist on promoting Private Interpretation over truth. *Tweak* all y'all want. I got into trouble frequently too -- almost from the very start. My ex and I, and another married couple came from a Jesus Freak group and into twi -- asking more questions than they could (or would) answer. The 4 of us took the class, went to twigs, but hung out with each other a lot discussing all the new stuff we were learning. We were always being reprimanded for one thing or another. B*ll M*rton was the guy who got us to all take the class (we were in his twig), and he was constantly being called on the carpet by J*hn Sc*tt for the *unruliness* of our twig. I remember once -- the entire branch motored on over from southern Indiana to hdqtrs for a Sunday night service. J*hn Sc*tt wanted an orderly caravan, the entire way -- no one lagging behind. The four of us "miscreants" were all in one vehicle towards the end of the caravan (which had about 10 or so vehicles), and one of the ladies had to use the bathroom. We pulled off the interstate to a gas station, figuring we would catch up quickly enough, and I saw it as a chance to refill my thermos of coffee as well. Within 5 minutes - we were outta there, and hauling the proverbial a$s to catch up. Well -- we caught up all right. They had all pulled over at a rest stop, waiting for us, and we blew right by them at 70 per! Woops! :D--> We pulled over on the side of the interstate to wait for them, and pretty soon here they all came, and every last one of them pulled up behind us. We got a first class lecture right there on the shoulder of East bound I-70, about not following what *leadership* said. :(-->

Mike -- I bear you no ill will. Never have, never will -- regardless of what you believe. I did not try to *come down hard on you*, and am scratching my head right now, trying to figure out how you came to that conclusion. --> I try to get along with ALL, and am more than willing to listen to the *opposition*, cause if you don't hear the story from their mouth -- you have no cause to complain about the beliefs talked about. Now -- I don't agree with you about pfal, and you don't agree with me (and others) about the bible. If you think we are *communicating better*, perhaps it is because I am trying my best to be polite, and attentive to what is being said (by you). I am hoping you can transcend pfal, and see there are other ways than that to God. But --- given all you have said in the past, I doubt that that will be a *happening* thing anytime soon. . . .

Well -- except for your first sentence, I agree 100%. I happen to like KJV, but I have several other versions here that I look at also, and trust -- just as much. Also have a small library by various authors, that cover a wide range of subjects, and while I consider none of them the *authoritative* definition of any given subject -- they are worthy of perusal, and consideration. Doc falls in that category. What he says (said) is no more than a *commentary* on what he thought the bible said or meant -- and as I've said before -- he got his knowledge from other folks, and passed it off as his work. Now --- reading Doc's works, or any of the others --- I see them ALL as nothing more than one man's *interpretation* of what the bible means, on any given subject. I don't accept any of them as the *end all* for doctrine -- but they all do give me something to think about, and chew over. Pfal may lead to God, but if it does -- it isn't the only set of books out there that does so.

You made 3 points here, and I have 3 responses: #1 priority --------------------- BINGO! #2 no priority is idolatry ------- Maybe. #3 impossible for God to bless --- His ways are greater than ours. You just said it yourself --- God's Word should be the number 1 priority in our lives. God's Word --- not pfal; Not having it as a priority doesn't necessarily lead to idolatry, but it could; God can bless anyone He chooses, regardless of their *practices* -- like Saul (aka Paul) for instance.
